If you need a tool the handle of a large set of channellock pliers will work.

I just used a pair of pliers with the rubber coating on the handle to remove the D ring. I just pinched the handle of the pliers over the D ring and pushed down. It was almost as good as having the tool.

Civilian ARs don’t come out that easily. The O-ring is set a lot stronger than military hand guards.

I know this video is old but I have an AR with a has block like that. I just bought a utg super slim high profile fixed front sight. If you have a gas block like that and that sl handguard together, the utg sight fits the bill perfectly.

Matthew Nations I have this same dpms rifle with the railed gas block. It sits lower than the top rail so I too had to purchase a higher fixed front site. Although now I’m thinking about just getting a new low profile gas block and a free float hand guard

I think the difference is less than 1/3” for SL vs standard. I got my upper assembly from PSA with the standard MOE hand guard and thought the same but based on the difference in size, it was not worth it.

@@michael5176 well dpms rifles are normally quality pieces, but since i got mine during the big scare they were cranked out quick and quality suffered. Don't feel like keeping a rifle I can't shoot so I'm getting a psa upper that works.

I have an Anderson am15 and was sold a magpul moe mlok handguard carbine size. Doesn't seem to fit. Ready to tear my hair out. 2nd one I was sold and still doesn't fit.

Hey Muddy Tiger, How do you like your slick side. I bought one about a year ago by accident. I haven't had any problems with it. But I am considering selling it because people keep telling me that I will regret it once it jams or it needs a dust cover. What are your impressions?

I haven't had any issues with mine but then again, I've never had an AR-15 type rifle jam on me, Not even my piston one. I've put about 600 rds of mine and even though this is a very small amount of rounds it has performed flawlessly for me. I'm not an operator or a soldier deployed in the desert or the jungle so not having a dust cover wasn't a must for me when I bought the rifle. Think of all the other types of rifles outhere that uperate without the necessity of a dust cover or a forward assist. If jammed, there's always the charging handle to eject/clear the malfunction, but that's just my opinion. Thank you for watching! -Jacko

The original Stoner design did not have a dust cover or forward assist. Those were added later because the troops were not that great at maintenance from what I have read. My S&W M&P-15 does not have the dust cover or forward assist and I have had no issues.

oscar ostolaza Some guns have an adjustment screw that you adjust to take out the slop between the upper and lower. The screw pushes up against the upper takedown pin block. It’s adjusted from the second hole. Stag ar’s have the adjustment screw.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me. I recently switched my handgaurd out for the slime line just like yours, and was wondering how your vertical grip fits and feels? I was told I needed to order the new MAG-597 new MLok grip for my unit, as the original mlok (like yours) fits sloppy and had wiggle? I like the original because it's a tad longer, but don't want something wiggly. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions? Thank you

I’ve actually never used the shorter one but this one is very firm. No wiggle at all. I’ve actually picked up the rifle bu just the vertical grip and it holds steady. If you mount it properly you should have no issues. I hope it helps. Thank you for watching! -Jacko
