Everyone's seen hot rod big bang theory, what id suggest you look at is any of sloppy mechanic's videos, specifically the one about the aftermath of blowing his motor on the strip thanks to a wastegate failure. he clearly shows that the rod absolutely shattered thanks to 30 psi of boost, but the rod bolts (which he had re used in three different motors) held up perfectly fine after dozens of 7000 rpm runs
That turbo was massive! Those air to water coolers are no joke. If he had dry ice and rubbing alcohol it probably would of went mid 8's and probably 6 more M.P.H. But that's fast enough 8.90's @ 150 is no joke👍👍👍👍
In the old days..we would weld chains on the frame and the shock tower..this would help keep the travel of the car down...you lose Alot of momentum going up then trying to steer the car...if you go into the other lane you lose the race and your time doesn't count either...**ONE#1**
+ZoniacHD I do you are implying that this car is only good in a straight line but I'm saying you'll understeer into a tree and he'll oversteer into the crowd if you were to try to race at a track
This is a dumb comparison, one is a purpose build drag car that cost money rather than make it and the other is build to perform in general, be easy to drive, be comfortable for daily use, and above all make Nissan money. Its been a well know fact that you can buy and build a car that is fast down a drag strip for super cheap if you know what your doing and where to get the parts you need cheaply, even if you pay someone to do the install/fab work.
That looks like a fun time! One thing I would do that car is replace all the glass for plexiglass windows. Unless he still takes it to the drive thru then ok I see why.
i have the same car, getting a 6.0 LS soon with 4L80e trans (running donor vehicle). i figure im way past halfway there in cost, just need a turbo and a strong rear end. this is what orgasms are made of!!!
its almost like the more it wheelied the better the time, those launches were gracefull not too much wheelie but just right and back on the ground before the wind becomes your enemy.

Ya the only thing budget is the motor setup . It’s honestly still a simple / light front end setup that knows how to hook and book . This setup would do amazing in the street
Actually, this car in particular in this stage of it was still around 7 or 8k, most expensive parts being the th400($3500 w/ converter), intercooler, turbo and lots of other parts were used so lots saved there and another $700 on a holley system when they were on sale years back, some chin-lee head studs, 2x walbro pumps, I wanna say stock e85 gm injectors but not 100% there, internals are just about completely stock, just cleaned and clearenced in house(literally) we fabricated just about everything on there so no labor cost to us
@@sk8erman2298 yeah and for a 8.90 thats really good! but them chin-lee head studs musta been related to bruce-lee to make it through a 8.90 pass lol can't go wrong with a Ls but yeah not cheaping out on trannys is always a must in my opinion or you end up spending more in the end lmao
No there a lot sketchier. George Ray's off the top of my head. Check out Ozark Raceway Parks Facebook page. Yesterday they excavated the first 300' of both lanes for fresh concrete, last week they completely reworked the runoff area of the track. I've hooked harder at this track than I have at any of the big Midwest NHRA tracks
Mikel Bentley I'm with you. I do this stuff everyday. But I have a welder. The skills to use it. A tool filled garage. Time to do it. Just the experience to build and tune takes years. So budget is a relative term. Like when Jimmy Hendrix says that lick is easy... Then I can't play it. I'm pretty sure Hendrix would have a hard time fabbing up an intercooler. Let alone breaking 9 seconds, on a budget.
@@mychannel-fm7gd except that it doubles as an air to water intercooler. Calling builds like this budget, is like eating McDonald's and calling it a diet. Sure, it is by definition a diet. A diet of something. This was certainly built on a budget. Just not the kind of budget most people think is cheap. For a sub 9 sec car, it probably is dirt cheap when you compare it to something like a Demon (new car that runs a bit slower)
+Syrus54 To run an 8.90 in the quarter that definitely would be considered budget. I have over 30k in my car it runs low 9s. But then again it is show quality and a much more desirable car. I built it late 90s, today it would cost more to build
