see this I agree with wholeheartedly. I think one of my strengths is getting multiple useable/unique images bc I'm a wedding photographer and that's always the final goal. Jared's strengths are definitely having more patience than me in getting a single image nailed really well.
Loved the fact that they referenced you, when I need a review in Sony world, Jared is my go to guy but I look to you for Canon related stuff! Love your work Peter!
Posing for client use: Vanessa. Posing for artistic expression: Jared. Gotta give it to The Fro! They do make a dynamic duo, though, and would make any of their solo shoots even better if they worked together. Better photography through interpersonal chemistry?
I follow the fro-man, but I actually enjoy it when he goes away from the review person and goes into photographer mode. He did wonders with that old tank of a Nikon lol
@@froknowsphoto thing with noise attached, right?? lol, that old Nikon is still a great camera for that kind of work.. if you can get a battery that works.. lol I just love the shutter sound on those old cameras too... like my old Canon 1d..that thing sounds like a tank! (built like one too!)
I just ''upgraded.'' I am a ''noobie'' photographer, still learning, was using Nikons D7500 and recently sold it with both of my lenses and I bought a used 1DXll for 2,400 EUR along with the 100-400mm... The difference in my photos is absolutely huge and I didn't change the way I shoot, I only ''upgraded'' to a better camera. The amount of options, settings and just overall freedom and control that I have over my photos is not even comparable to when I was using the D7500... The difference is night and day. The ''it's not the camera, it's the photographer'' goes only as far as your camera allows - with low end gear, you will eventually hit a wall with settings/image quality, no matter how good you are but with better camera, there's no wall to hit, the sky is the limit...
I disagree, a T7i (or any crop sensor) with a fixed 50mm and manual focus is a relatively inexpensive combo and one that many people would see as "budget." However I find that photos in the snow, on an overcast day, with a professional model is cake. If they had to pose a first-time subject that was nervous, on a sunny day at noon, that would have been much harder. Overall great job though.
I wasn't dissing it at all, in fact I said that Jared had a handicap with his camera. I've shot with this camera ton and love it. Though I do like the newer m50mkii better
I have to give the vote to Jared for the more artistic framing through the railing. Bonus points for using a camera that's 18 years older than your challengers. For a real challenge use a Kodak dcs420 on the next shootout
@@monkeywizard77 no pain at all with my beloved Nikon D700 bought 2008, still the only digital camera I own next to my analogue Nikon F4s and I don`t miss anything
I think Jared one, but not by a lot. Also, I think Vanessa had the advantage with the newer gear. Next time, could you guys shoot with old entry level cameras like the t2, t3, etc.
I like seeing this version of Jared-the “Fro” facade can be a bit much-and I liked that he was involved with discussing composition instead of the usual gear talk on his channel.
Jared wins this one with overall journalistic style Vanessa's brick portrait was excellent Very entertaining content, really enjoyed banter and technical remarks
Vanessa, your first photo is bang-on tack sharp. Gorgeous framing and a beautiful image. Jared's photos, I would say won. His compositions really won me over. This is not to say that neither of you are bad, the two of you are beyond professional. It was a great video and it shows both of you had a lot of fun. That's where it really counts, is the fun factor.
I am going to cough my COVID on you. This statement is legendary and iconic I laughed so hard. I was no expecting this high level of humor from Vanessa. ❤❤👍👍
Jared single photo (First) is the Best! , but the best part is watching Jared with a Nikon wearing an Alpha (Sony) jacket :) Both are amazing photographers!
Jared for Single shot based Sharpness and focus, Vanessa for the Wedding style, album time shots. Combined I'd say both, but since Jared didn't have Live View, I'd say He gets an extra point.
I liked that Vanessa picked a Canon Rebel with the nifty fifty. Arguably the most common interchangeable lens camera you might come across in America with a super popular and inexpensive lens.
I admire vannesa for being able to pose but my style is probably more like Jared in this case because us people who can't pose have to look for great composition lol
I'm gonna go with the FRO!!!! Vanessa's is too safe, too classic magazine standard. Jared is more artistic, fun and whimsical. Plus way too much skin smoothing is Vanessa's pic. Also Jared got the highlights in the model's hair.
Both are solid... I’m going with Jared only because of the brighter expression on the model! Both were executed very very well. This was a fun video to watch!
This was good fun but I have to go with Jared that single photo was just great and been taken with such an old sensor and camera is just amazing. Thanks for putting this together Vanessa.
Vanessa hands down. More pleasing and better use of the beautiful model. Her close up and the kicking the snow full body are awesome shots. Vanessa's shots have more emotional connection and feel. Enjoyable video thank you both.
I appreciate how Jared proves, again, that it is not the equipment that matters as much as the knowledge. I have been told so many times that because I have a 16 mega pixel crop sensor camera I can not print larger than 11×14 prints. Jared has shown how good and how big (his metal prints at his home) you can print, and here he is showing what a next to nothing amount of pixels can do!! Thank you both. I learn a lot by watching both of your videos!!
Jared, that’s the first time I’ve seen you with your hair ”down”...I like it. Great job both of you! You just proved that it’s not about the gear, though modern technology sure makes the job easier! 🤗
Jared won this. Vanessas shots are nice, but they just look like standard instagram photos without standing out. But the framed shot that Jared took is unique, the smile is great and the editing is really cool. I like this video series already!
What a fun "competition!" My favorite photo overall was Vanessa's close-up portrait of the model but I preferred Jared's entries as a whole over Vanessa's. Great concept you can tweak to highlights cameras, presets, editing, posing, etc!
YOU DON’T NEED THE BEST GEAR TO BE A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER. I vote Fro, even tho there was no fro... Jared was using a 22 year old digital camera and still delivered!! Vanessa you did great too 👍🏻
This prove that any good camera can, still produce, great images. I have a Nikon D300s, and A Nikon F601,and. Nikon F60 film cameras. All 3 are blazing!! Jared surprised me, with his photo's Vanessa, by a slight edge!!📷😁
It's great to see how on next to no budget you can get great results with enough experience and technical experience thanks to both of you for doing this.
I liked both; I think the 2 photos shown side by side were the best of each. I know Jared probably wouldn’t have done it, but I’d would have liked to see him shoot with the D40, he would have had an easier time; He never would have had to think about the meter for one thing. Still fun to see those old well built brick being used.
