That's how hate generates and boils to this. Slaughter of jews, genocide of Bosnians, Rwanda genocides... all have the same theme. One side feels "wrong" done to them by the other inherently due to racial and cultural practices. So, the other side enrages and act, in their psyche, in self defense, against that community, not individuals. Individuals in that community may not have done anything directly, but they are inherently considered a threat that needs to dealt with in advance. Get it?

I'm disturbed by the thought that if someone ever hurt my family, the government would protect them from me by hiding them in a prison. It would be better if we were left to our own devices. Less law to "protect us" sure, but bad people would be less likely to do us harm if they knew we were all armed and no law can prevent us from fighting back or seeking revenge.

It will never stop happening unfortunately. Suicidal people with a bone to pick will commit mass murders for as long as we keep showing their faces on TV. If we obscure the identity and motive of the killer it will make mass killing less appealing to other angry people. The issue with that is that people feel entitled to know every detail about these incidences even if they were not directly affected.

People murder people every day in the cities. In some cities like Chicago sometimes the people who do it don't even get jail time. There were a few examples I remember from last year in Chicago. There was a grown man who was a drug dealer stabbed and killed a 17 year old in cold blood for no reason and admitted to it in court. He got probation. Another example was a kid who was 18 iirc drove to the house of a 17 year old who he had a dispute with on the internet. He had his friend record him stabbing and killing the kid then they posted it online. He was only charged with possession of a knife and as for the stabbing the DA said it was "mutual combat". There are countless stories like this you can look up if you are interested, many of them come out of Chicago. Another was a big shootout recorded clearly on city cameras where a few people were shot. The police were told not to investigate and the DA once again cited "mutual combat". This example even got harsh criticism from the soft on crime mayor Lori Lightfoot. Meanwhile people are serving decades in federal prison for things like weed and tax evasion. The feds will lock someone away for murder as well but they rarely investigate and or prosecute violent criminals anymore. They seem to have different priorities now. I'm glad this shooter got served some justice, he will never see daylight again. However the criminal justice system in the U.S is almost completely broken.

It's usually because they don't think they are throwing anything of value away.

Regular people can carry a gun for their own protection and have a chance to save himself. In the unlikely chance that some guards decide to hurt him, he will be helpless to stop it.
