i know everyone likes to jump in the comments and explain why the Anointed One was written out, but i really like what it does for Spikes rep to intro him like this and have him kill this important vampire on a whim. it does a lot for the characterization of Spike, regardless of the behind the scenes reasons for it.

The title of this episode is referring to the movie Die Hard as it aimed to do a kind of "Die Hard at the school". And as it was already mentioned in other comments, yu can learn in the DVD comment that they wrote off The Annointed one cause coming nto S2, they realized that haing a kid vampire is not such a good idea cause kid have a tendancy to grow, whereas vampire, as dead things, are supposed to never age. Anyway, an excellent episode. My favorite moment is Willow and Cordy in closet "Ask for some aspirin".

You might want to look into having one or two people moderate the comments, that way someone can read them before you do & delete any blatant information that might spoil you. I’m sure people would be happy to do it if you ask. That or you could always just not read comments until you’re finished with the series. Sadly, a couple reactors in the past decided to do that, because they kept getting spoiled.

The annoying one was a pi t sized vampire, so being forced into the daylight burned him alive. The fans never really cared for him and they never really built his character. I think they killed him of in the way they did as they didn't want someone actually stabbing a kid with a steak, even if he was a vampire. Plus, it adds a little cred to Spike as a big bad that he's so willing to nonchalantly kill off the annointed one despite how all other vampires appear to revere him and is in a child's body.

I like your comment about how the music sounds like the end of a movie. Starting with season 2, they hired Christophe Beck, who will eventually go on to score movies and some big projects (notably: Frozen, Antman, and now WandaVision and Hawkeye).

Ah, the episode where I started hating Angel. Guy is over 2 centuries old, and after his underage girlfriend used her friend to make him jealous, Angel risked a 16 year old boy's life by using him as bait against his will. If Spike had taken a bite out of Xander or killed him, there would be no coming back from that. You don't hand your allies over to the enemy for any reason. Jerk. The best part is probably the Annoying One's death.

the dusting effects cost money so the more they can do off camera, the more money they can save since the budget wasn’t that high for this show. Spike was supposed to only be in a few episodes, but since he was so popular, they had to keep him around. Joss Whedon didn’t like that an evil character became popular and resented the actor that played spike - James Marsters. At least according to James Marsters.

Pretend you’ve seen what he has & there have been no future episodes & you don’t know anything more than he does. Talking about show characters & how long they stay, or their development all constitutes spoilers.

One of the most iconic scenes in the whole show when Spike ( one of the greatest characters in The Buffyverse ) rolls into town and drives right over the Sunnydale sign. Interesting that you thought he looked like Billy Idol, Spike was based on an English punk rocker. Spike was only supposed to be in a couple of episodes, but James Marsters was so impressive, he became a firm fan favourite and added to the richness of the show.
