In the UK we dissected a bull's eye for biology, which would have been in the early 1980s. I don't think school biology classes dissect anything nowadays.

@@Michael75579 in the late 90s/early 00's our teacher dissected a heart at the front of a class (can't remember what animal), but we weren't allowed to do anything. We were also top set, so only the brainy kids got to see it lol

You know, now that you say that, I can recall cow’s eyes being dissected as well. Memory is a tricky beastie.

I was Class of 1986 & we definitely did dissections of bullfrogs. In fact, I’m pretty sure we even did it in the 9th grade (which, for me, was technically Jr. High. We did grades 7, 8 & 9 as Junior High & 10, 11 & 12 as High School).

No, If you want to learn to drive, you have to pay for drivers lessons. Or sometimes someone's mum or dad might teach them how to drive. I don't know if thats still as common as it was in the 80s & 90s. But I think it would be weird and unnecessary to have free drivers ed at school in the UK. We are not NEARLY as reliant on cars as in the US. If you live in a big city, we have fantastic public transport systems - and terrible traffic jams ( and pollution!), so the public transport gets you around quicker and easier usually. In towns/small towns things are a lot closer to each other than in American towns, in walking distance and things are built for pedestrians. I have learnt about how in the US there are often no sidewalks in places, or safe place to cross because everything is built for car use. We also have a great train network for getting about the country. ( Though way more expensive than in all other European countries). Although cars can be very useful, if you have a family with young kids, or for some types of job, they are not even as necessary as they used to be - for example you can get all your supermarket shopping delivered. So only really essential in the UK if you live in the countryside, with very little public transport. There people are more reliant on cars like in the US. But we need to get away from car use, and more to bikes and public transport. So it seems a waste of public money to spend it on teaching kids to drive. I live in London btw, have done for 24 years. And until very recently I didn't know any friends in London who drive. The two I know now is both so they can drive their bands around to gigs around the country.
