The "Lock Miter" router bit was a generic brand from Amazon.
THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO.
I'm building nightstands! Aka bedside tables. I built the bed last year in my woodshop but never got around to finishing the nightstands. I am using maple wood to match the bed I built. This is part 2 in the series where I assemble the boxes for the cabinets. Enjoy!

Standard Disclaimer: Putting your soft, squishy fingers near powerful sharp spinning things is dangerous. I've been doing this for a while and I know what I'm doing but even I'm not invincible. I take a lot of safety precautions based on my level of experience and not all of them are shown on camera. Don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. If it makes you nervous you're probably doing it wrong. Don't do anything stupid. Reapply sunscreen often and floss before bed. Is anyone actually still reading this?

Your videos have an incredibly modern aesthetic with the beats throughout the video as well as the incredibly clean work space and methodical procedure. I can't believe you're under 10k subscribers right now and am so glad to have found your channel!

Dillon Murray Thats a huge compliment and people like you who appreciate what I’m doing are the only reason I keep doing it! Thank you!

Nice Video as I have come to expect. I appreciate your showing the amount of work that it takes to get the joints setup and the "learning experience" of the beveled cut. It helps someone as green to this as I am to see the time and effort needed.

Nice job and waiting for the rest of it. Sometimes, like your 15 degree angle, seemingly good plans go astray. An old(er) woodworker once told me that "most of being a good woodworker is being able to hide your mistakes and learn from them". You're well on your way.

Those lock niters are interesting, Blake. I don’t see a lot of people use them. Good video!

I'm finding out why a lot of people don't use them. They are good for paint grade stuff like box beams (I made some for my ceiling a year ago and it was awesome) but not so great for hardwoods and fine woodworking.

Loving the content as well as the tunes. I too am a firefighter, Miami, and will be moving to a new home shortly where I will have my first garage. I have a plenty of tools but not necessarily woodworking tools. Hope to have a similar shop like yours one day. I definitely enjoyed your last shop update where you mentioned this being a hobby and not making it a job. I look forward to future videos and ideas. Thank you

I love/hate the lock miter. I did all our kitchen's drawers and pull out shelves with this joint. Like you pointed out in the video, it takes a while to dial it in for production (hate). But once it's set up, I was feeding the wood through like a hot knife through butter (love). Then came the glue ups(!) and getting the joint to close was work but once the joint came together, they were square (love/hate). Cool vids. I like the pace and the level of work you are doing. Thanks for sharing.

Blake- heres a tip Go to your local auto parts store and buy the clear rubber door protectors. They fit perfect on the edge of the clamps to protect it from the glue dropping. Great video

Nice work. I like the lock miter... I have never seen that but it makes complete sense.

Silas Marner thanks! I probably would not use it for hardwoods or fine furniture again though.

Hay, I'm comment #3. Third time's a charm. Nice project. Also, that miter lock bit seems to be more trouble than it's worth.

Hazem Bata I totally agree with you. I wanted to try it but actually started to regret my decision about half way through. It’s great for low precision miters... for example I used it to make a box beam out of pine and it worked great with the softer paint-grade wood. I won’t ever use it on fine furniture again.

Great work! I always learn a ton on your vids. The Incra equipment is always amazing to look at.#Goals. I'll share one thing that has helped me a lot of late with glue application: the little gasoline brushes from Harbor Freight. Pack of 50 is about $3, so cost is nominal. I see you were using a paint brush to get the glue inside those routed grooves. Gasoline brush holds more glue, yet has similar precision. so does a faster job. Keep it up!

Dan Taylor thanks for the tip! Wish I had a Harbor Freight closer, maybe I’ll look for them online.

Thanks! Just watch out, the gasoline brushes are cheap, and they tend to "shed" a hair or two sometimes when used to apply glue. No real issue, but I know (and respect) how meticulous you are!

Loving your videos Blake. Keep it up. Very envious of your full and well organised router but drawer! :) One suggestion. The pocket holes at the end are facing the front of the case. If you had cut the dado in same panel as the pocket holes, the holes would have faced backwards and not be as visible? Or are you planning to plug them? Cheers.
@weberwoodshop

Andrew Delane thank you! I’m not really worried about the holes since the drawers will always hide them.

Thumbs down for showing those that watch to learn that they don’t need safety glasses. Do firemen enter a burning house without safety gear?
