Thanks for watching and supporting this new channel! Loads more videos in my Simplifying Productivity playlist creating various tools in Notion that link to this video. I also make videos on minimalism and lifestyle stuff like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HqpwIHzXS74.html
Couldn’t agree more: I try to get a nice balance on the channel so it’s useful to everyone - but learning to make your own always better! Thanks for watching - please help spread the word 🙌
Thanks for saying so. :) I’ve started filming a new set for building various second brain elements with all the new features recently - so more build vids to come
I think now they work both ways yes - I believe there are two versions / or at least that used to be the case - but should just work both ways: the way I did it just made it easier to title and be sure it worked. :)
Hey mate, thank you for your videos, the production value is off the roof. I love how all these ideas can apply to any creative and freelance job/lifestyle. I'm a game and software developer trying to go freelance and it was hard at first to figure out what the best ways to manage everything, document everything and actually do the work were, but since I discovered Notion and healthy productivity/personal growth stuff here I feel like many doubts are just flying away and that I'm in control of my future. Thank you again, very inspiring! Will build this system now and see how it integrates with my current Notion setup. Have you considered having Notebooks as lil DBs of notes instead of doing it with tags? I mean having a "Related To: Notebook" with a DB link to it instead. I'm evaluating the implications of it right now, it might be a more complex and overall worse solution tho.
Hi Victor - thanks for sharing all this - great to read! That's good to hear: I'm really keen for it to all be relatable to any kind of creative life: I'm planning to do some interviews in the future with people from different creative fields who are particularly prolific and productive to gather good advice. Could be cool. Yes totally considered the multiple database version for notebooks - Thomas Frank did something similar to that so check out his video on Notes in Notion. However - i believe this version is better as they are then all searchable in one database, and can then be linked to my projects database and content creation database. You might enjoy my vid on a full system tour of how it all fits together here too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-szTZdEQsiys.html All the best with your system! Simon :)
I like your notions videos you know your stuff; however, it's super hard to follow along because your editing style makes it hard to follow the cursor on the screen and see what you're doing. I will admit this is my first time watching your video and trying to actually follow along so maybe it will get easier over time, but the jump cuts be coming at the wrong time and some of those speed up clips. All the same you know your stuff when it comes to notion.
Me too, he moves fast! But you could always try slowing down the video using RU-vid speed controls: Settings (cog at bottom right of video screen) > Playback speed > select your speed 😉
It’s probably this very old one you are looking for: it’s the basics to the task manager: How to Manage Your Time Better: context is everything. Build this Notion productivity system with me ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tpdD6pCHsEU.html
Looks like a great Note taking system I want to switch from Onenote but I dont know if notion can be my only driver or I need another for taking quick Notes
Hi Mikel - yeah tricky choice! I've found making a quick notes system at the top of my Notion pages means I can use it for quick notes on the go on phone or desktop etc. But depends how you want to use it. Sometimes there is no substitute in my life for for the words 'hey siri, new note" ! Thanks for supporting the channel :)
I have been looking forward to this video. It didn't disappoint. I have also just finished reading the Greg Mckeown book you highlighted in a previous video. If you know how to code recurring tasks in Notion, that would be a great help. Other videos on RU-vid don't help. Keep up the great content.
Thanks Lee, great to have such engaged followers commenting - what this is all about! Yeah, love essentialism - more in the next vid on that. I know there is a way to do recurring tasks in Notion - just need to work it out! Will look into it. :)
I have this code but it doesn't appear to work, I had to remove the prop as that doesn't for sure is there something I'm missing: dateBetween ("Today"),("Created"),("Weeks")
@BetterCreating How would you approach the following? I have multiple notes. All notes have their own tags. Per note I want to show if there are similar notes with one or more tags that are the same. This doesn't seem to work from within a template. You can add a list to each note separately and filter on the tags you want but I want to automate this so that when I open a note I can immediately see if there are related notes in de database. Thanks.
Is there a web clipper - or a way to throw an e-mail into a note. I get a lot of projects to bid on via e-mail and have trouble tracking all those e-mails, bid info, etc. Thanks!
Notion does have a web clipper - I’ve tried it in gmail and it will only clip a link to an email and turn that into a note - but there maybe a way to do it so it populates the note. You could clip the email, as a url and then paste the text into the note so you have a link to the email and then a summary of it in your notes. Give that a try maybe? :)
Which video did you create the task list and dashboard? This video was great! I originally used Thomas Franks notebook, but I feel that this makes it better to organize the notebooks and notes.
So great to hear it’s working for you. Nice one - please spread the word! 😊 Here’s the video to make the task and project system: How to Manage Your Time Better: context is everything. Build this Notion productivity system with me: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tpdD6pCHsEU.html
Hey Man! What is the difference between the knowledge hub and notes page? Because if we were persay reading an article, wouldn't we take notes under it instead of using this page?
It’s all the same database - but it’s an option to sort your stuff. I did it as notebooks are for my ideas and meeting notes / personally generated stuff, knowledge bank is for links, references etc I find and the. Make notes on them within it. Cheers. Keep it simple and what ever works best for you :)
Really interesting ideas and very functional system! Thanks for the coding! I'm putting your system into practice with some customization and it works well in my creative work too! Have you thought of a way to create a quick note from the iPhone in a Smart and fast way?
Hello there - sorry to hear that! This is quite an old video now - I recommend watching my Notion From Scratch Series where i believe we’ve significantly improved the visuals and clarity of the tutorials. Notion has also changed a fair bit since this video so menus may look different. Thanks :)
@@BetterCreating Thank you for your quick response !! That's super, having a problem and receiving in such a short time an answer. Thank you again and I'm go through your latest tutorials to see and learn more 🙂
Ah; sorry - I must have missed I changed it when making it and not noted it in the video. Can’t always get it 100% perfect. They will still work: but yes: both are best as Select.
This was really helpful - the template button with filtered database views inside is exactly what I needed for my system. Great to have this hands-on walk-through, thank you.
Brilliant set up. Thank you for sharing the steps to create this. The lack of easy quick capture had me still using Keep, but this method might do the trick!
I am so frustrated. Tried many times and absolutely no success in getting this set up. Followed you step by step and when it’s time to duplicate the notebooks it duplicates inside the template and not in priority notes. Not sure what I’m missing or not doing right..Removing it for now. may try again but, for now too frustrated.everything linked up except the notebooks....
Hi Julio, sorry to hear you are having trouble. Hard to know what’s wrong from a comment but here are a few thoughts: If you are duplicating from a notebook to make a priority view you will need to drag the duplicated copy over to where you want the priority view. Alternatively it could be easier to just do /create linked database of your ‘notes’ where you want to create the priority view and filter it to only show notes labelled priority. If your notebook template isn’t linked to your main ‘notes’ database, make sure you have created the right ‘notes’ database inside that template so it is linked (/create linked database function again). Good luck!
@@BetterCreating Thank you for the encouragement. Got up this morning determined to make this work, we did it!!! Now just need to add budget/finance planner and a journal.
Nice!! Good work! I’m about to start playing around with a few new elements for my system this week: plus still grappling with how to solve recurring tasks. But we’ll see! Thanks for watching
This is a great video summing up wonderfully all the different things you can do within Notion in one useful example. It really cleared some things up for me. Thanks a lot!
@@BetterCreating Now that you are asking ;o) Personally, I would very much like to know more on how to organize projects, pages and databases in the sidebar. Just in case you are looking for an idea... Anyway, I do appreciate any input!
Thanks - wow - this is old now! pretty sure I reference that I’ve learnt from Thomas, Kye, Ali Abdaal etc in previous videos about what I was building back then. Thanks for watching :)
Around 14:09 things went a little too fast, and the procedure seems to have changed. It took me a long time and a lot of fast forwarding and rewinding to figure this part out.
