I look at the fanhome website to see what they had and weirdly r2d2 was the only one that didn't have a option to subscribe to it, instead it just has a button to take you to the Millennium falcon. Is it sold out?
Hey Wayne!! I know I’m late to the party here, but I just started getting the Fanhome R2!! I bought a set of the screwdrivers from your Amazon link and have been using them on my R2. I saved up stages 1-4 and did them all together in about 2 days. I can’t wait for my next box to come in!! Thanks for your videos, they have been so much more helpful than the magazine instructions. I know this build will take about 2 years, so I’ll be watching your vids a lot!! Well, thanks again for your helpful and inspiring videos for this build your own R2 project. May the Force be with you…always!
Hi there Wayne! Big fan of your channel and building ET along with your videos. Just started r2d2 also and was wondering what glue you used to stick the pieces together?
Wayne, as with all your builds, it looks like this is going to be an enjoyable build to watch. Looking forward to the next video. Stay well, and we'll see you soon.
Well, since I'm a glutton (for punishment?) I've gone ahead and ordered ANOTHER of these, this time FanHome. Of course, I have all of the stages already from the DeAgostini version, and it's sitting in its various sub-stages, approx 75% complete? I had a glitch with my build space, and some disarray, so began to think I'd lost a component that you build early, then set aside for many months until installing in the dome. Anyway, with another crack at it, comparing and organizing as I go, then!! Voila, two!! Hah...surely someone might take one off my hands, then.
I just received the first pack in this build and am enjoying it so far. Of course, I blame Wayne and his Jedi Mind Tricks for causing me to break down and get it and also because I plan on rewatching this build series again as I receive each stage. Wayne, are you sure you're not really a Sith Lord in disguise? 😂
@@WorldofWayneUK Thank you for the response. There's several listed on that link. Which ones did you get? Is there an equivalent sold on Amazon? I live in the U.S.
@@outsider238 the main things you need are it needs to have a button top and be UNPROTECTED. The later is extremely important. Just Google 18650 button top unprotected in your country and you should be good.
@@WorldofWayneUK I'm sorry to keep asking so many questions. I've never seen these batteries before. Which mAh batteries do I need? Also, are these dangerous? I keep seeing things about them exploding if they're over charged. Why did they use such obscure batteries for R2-D2 instead of more common, easier to find batteries?
Thank you for your videos. I am having problems with the displays from issues 6 and 22. They do not light as described. Fanhome has sent me replacement parts but they are the same. Have you heard of this problem from anyone else?
Hi Wayne, first of all, I want to thank you for your videos on the Build R2-D2, they’ve been a great help. I’m now at pack 16 and have lots of screws still unused, so can I ask you a question? When (for example) you say a “3mm screw”, does that size mean the entire length of the screw or just the shaft/thread? Sorry to ask such a silly question. Many thanks.
Oh no I don’t have glue what’s the best glue I should get? And the what drill and I’m sorry for all the questions for the other stages what should I buy that the kit doesn’t have
Hey Wayne I just started building my R2 after gathering up all the parts for almost 2 years I'm still waiting on stages 91 through 100, but I figure I'm close enough to start on it. I could not wait for a package to put together every month, I would go crazy. Anyway, what kind of glue did you use to connect the metal parts with??
Looks like you don't have to hang onto that tiny dome hinge piece for 50+ issues this time! (I am building this in the US - yes, currently. I subscribed to De Agostini version before they pulled it off their website, so to all of those who are complaining - don't. I'm currently 7 months behind in deliveries - with a sneaking suspicion that one of these days it will just be cancelled on me)
I have a question for you, is this model any different from the diAgostini model? I have all the parts to make my R2D2 and have had to put him on hold until I moved to my new home. I’m getting ready to build him now but is he still supported by DiAgostini as they still haven’t sent me the binders they were supposed to send. I just want to make sure they haven’t upgraded the model and I should try to get the upgraded parts. I’m sure you know what I’m asking.
Chances are you will finish this before I finish mine, been waiting for pack 24 from modelspace since sept last year, getting fed up of excuses now and starting to feel I will never receive it, so frustrated.
Covid etc, warehouse changes, then I had a payment taken two months ago, didn't arrive, so rang them after two weeks to be told that 220 pack came in but they needed 224 and I was one of the 4 that didn't get one.
Absolutely nothing except the flair I put on it. No.seriously it's the same model but when I filmed it first time I had 1 camera and not.much experience. I didn't do the build justice so I am glad I get to rectify that.
@@WorldofWayneUK i did the R2 build as a full kit and its quite the piece. Would love a companion C3PO to go with it. But im building the enterprise d with you now. Highly disappointed that no accelerated kits were made available to US customers. You will be done far before we get all the parts.
Hy Wayne. Will the app on your smartphone for the last R2D2 compatible with the new R2D2? The imagination that you can controll both at the same time will be fun. :D
Going to enjoy watching these! Hope to build one myself. Slightly off-topic, what are the organizers you’re using at the back of your desk? They look very useful. Thanks!
So just received my first kit. So my question is Would it be better to start building the R2D2 when at least 50% of the kits have been sent. Or it doesn’t matter?
Nice to see you building this again Wayne, I'm curious to see if he's been improved at all 🙂 Just wish I could afford him again but Ironman is taking all my pitiful cash 😥
@@WorldofWayneUK Technically, from a certain point of view, he never did own a droid, they were borrowed from the Republic, and R2-D2 was owned by Padme! Also still waiting for pack one, called Fanhome yesterday as my oreder shows as cancelled as they do not recognise my address. On the phone they are saying it has been sent out, but still have seen no money taken, so I do not think they quite know what they are talking about yet!
So you know any other companies that make/sell the r2d2? I've tried through them and got screwed over from the 1st click and before i read all the bad reviews. I'd love to get an r series and convert it into an r4 home entertainment system and a T800 and some other kits as well, but not through fanhome never again.
Well i took the plunge and ordered the r2d2 build from fanhome now that it ships to the us it was this or the enterprise my 4 and six year old picked this they will be supervising me when i build lol
I am building a workshop in the spare room could you know this model I’m wondering could you show me a plan are you done your plan you’re out your wshop
Wayne, if you don't know what to do with the extra R2-D2 after you finish building this one I have a suggestion: repaint and mod one of them to become BT-1 (dr. Aphra's evil and psychotic astromech droid).
Dear Wayne, I loved the Dune themed background music and especially loved the Jedi outfit! Any chance of letting us know where your purchased the outfit from?
Hi Wayne! Excelent video as always! To see you dressed as a Jedi.... nice touch! I have a question! That build is going to be available in Mexico? Or is only for the UK? I already have one R2 from Deagostini..... but I love astromech droids! And I would love to build a second one and customize it! Do you have any more information?
Great videos, I have watched the first few more than once. I'm really hoping I don't make a mistake that can't be easily fixed. Does superglue work on the Metal? I'm using Krazy Glue should I get something else? Thanks for all your hard work.
Would you happen to know if they will be offering this build from the US like the Ghostbusters build your own Ecto-1? BTW, great background, wardrobe and all.
Just to ask do you think we will get the guess the screw game in the fanhome version of the build? 🤞🤞 As that was the bain 😠😡 of the deagostini version. Almost forgot to ask have you deleted your original R2D2 videos as some people might be using them for there own build guide's? Nice start to this release. Stay safe all.
@@WorldofWayneUK no worries, i looked into it and cant afford it just yet. it would be about 70 to 80 usd per month. tough times for the next 5 or so months then i am good
To Wayne Please can you send me a picture of your bench work bench and start to do all this as the first I’m doing a thing like this can you send me a picture of it please thank you very much Kevin Ventre
Hi Wayne, Rob here, I tried to order R2D2 through your link, but I'm having trouble with the payment, when I place my order It only charged me 5p, via my PayPal account, and then it blocked me, I contacted Fanhome and I'm Still waiting to hear from them, do you have any idea why it did that,?
