Using 3 tab asphalt shingles to shingle the roof of the chicken coop at the off the grid homestead. We will be installing a "t shape drip edge" on the eave and gable end, using a felt paper underlayment and using the 3 tab shingles to do the entire roof. We will be making starter strip and ridge cap shingles from our 3 tab shingles as well. In the next episode we will be installing insulation ad vapor barrier, and it wont be long before we get the hens moved out!
17-year-old finishes high school and moves to live alone with his dog in the Canadian Wilderness. I had no real interest in pursuing a specific career path, and the stress and pressure of deciding what I was going to do was driving me crazy. I then realized that there was nothing stopping me from pursuing my dream life living off the grid in a self-reliant lifestyle. I headed to the north woods and began building a small cabin/tiny house. I plan to power the entire homestead with renewable energy, specifically solar power. As for water supply, I plan on a rainwater collection system in the summer months, and will retrieve water from the lake in the winter. The off the grid cabin will be heated with a wood stove that I will also use to cook on. Outdoor living in so incredibly peaceful as you are so in touch with nature. Eating natural foods and wild game provided from the land and simple, responsible living is good for the soul. I have chickens that will soon be producing eggs as a constant food source, and living next to a remote lake I also have northern pike as a constant food source. In the future I will be planting a garden and growing organic food! Join me and my dog, Cougar as we live off the land in the remote North. We are working on building an off the grid homestead to develop a life free from social and economic stress. The entire progression and development of the off the grid homestead will be featured on the channel. We will also feature content on bush craft, survival, outdoor living, primitive technology, outdoor cooking, fishing, hunting, and trapping as well. Thank you for watching Traplines and Inlines!

Hey guys, thanks for watching! At about 2:15 you can see I accidentally ripped the tar paper when I put in the nail. I was not concerned about it because it was so small and the Drip edge went over top of it, and I also did not have the resources to replace the sheet. Please keep in mind that I am not a roofer by any means, just trying to show how I do my little roofing projects. Cheers!

This is my ideal how to video. Dude runs out of nails while on the roof. He eyeballs everything and still the roof looks fine, It serves it purpose and he got his point through. I watched this video and did my roof the exact same way no fancy shit and it turned out great. We need more of these fuck it how to videos instead of always getting the extravagant perfect how to vids. You’re the definition of a hardworking intuitive man keep up the good work.

There’s my favorite Canadian voice! I just got a new coop with cedar shake siding and a cupola, that has a chicken weathervane on top. It took an entire summer to build, but it’s really cool and the chickens love it!

Thank you! This video helped me install my very first roof on a chicken coop! I had so much anxiety about attempting it so I searched RU-vid and couldn't find a video that truly explained and showed each step (which was what I needed) - until I came across this video and it was so helpful! Thanks again and stay safe out there!

Thanks for uploading videos, really enjoy the content you post. I'm no pro builder either so I can relate to the simplicity of the old school tools. I am building a garage off grid 26x32 with 14 foot walls. Doing everything by the seat of my pants with just hand tools. You are a help to me I have roofed sheds and my old house but learned a few tips watching your videos. Thanks ... Steve from northern Wisconsin. 👍

so i found your channel because i was searching the proper way to start a roof shingle.. i built a 22 inch x 10 inch birdhouse!!..not my first! last one was 16 years ago!..pretty cool 6 compartment birdhouse..they are living large! anyways i have enjoyed all your build videos and the cute chickens running around and your dog...i have not had a dog in 4 years lost him to cancer a very loyal golden retriever..i have only trapped using a live trap and have no interest in any other form of trapping or hunting for myself anyways but i am curious on when your interest started on trapping... is it a way of life there..is it done for population control..solely sport...would like to know your story..maybe a good subject while sipping on the o bush coffee one day!! i had to trap because i noticed our sofit bent away one day a couple years ago..so i bought a larger live trap and caught a raccoon ..evicted him right a way!..but it happened once again this time i had heard something in the attic and then heard crying baby something or others..we have a split level home and my son was working in the garage when i heard all this and i had also seen a coon leaving our property ...so we hurried and our son retrieved 6 babies into a box and left them on the ground level in the box and the mother came back to get her babies one by one..she at first went back to the attic area of the roof and looked puzzled ..she couldnt get back in any longer.. while she was away our son built a quick wedge of wood which kept her out...so i have had to use the trap at least a good handful of times..caught a opossum..couple coons. couple skunk..released at a nearby reserve ...i feed the birds, and squirrels hang around too because of the food!..which no doubt attracts the other critters! .the birdhouse hung peacefully until the last year or so when the squirrels chewed a huge hole in it to have their own babies..same size and style birdhouse i just built...two times they had babies in there...so it was time to build a new one and thats how i found your channel!! building the roof!...your humor is so funny and entertaining..really have enjoyed the builds but can you believe i have not seen one of the trapping videos...i like animals so i dont have the heart to watch skinning and such! thanks for the entertaining videos and hope to hear your story of how trapping started for you!!
