Schneider the best I think and that’s the most hi tech board I’ve seen out of that range. I’ve been using the Eaton cable interface kits saves cutting pax or any other board the size fits most 3 phase db’s

I do like the Schneider boards but I wonder why the Active AFDDs require a new set of terminals rather than using the existing Isobar P plug-on-neutral system that they use for their RCBOs, or at least the distributed neutral bar so that they can support the standard Isobar boards.

Nice board, but why? I don´t understand why you are using these unflexible boards. Here in germany and I think most of europe aswell, we are using empty (and larger) boards with rows of DIN-rail where you can put on whatever you need. Not only breakers but a lot of different things (contactors, PLCs, timers, metering, monitoring, etc.) in any order. You can then just run everything to a row of terminal blocks and tie in there rather than running wires all around the board. (basicly its a electrical cabinet but with a faceplate like in a consumer unit so that its safe to use for a layman.

Because here in the UK the IET seem to think having the same brand of consumables is the only way….. 🙄

Surely a product standard wouldn't be able to cover every configuration ?
@mrfrenzy.
@mrfrenzy. Год назад
This is exactly how we do it in Sweden aswell, it is very flexible and there is no problem mixing brands of components. I can see one advantage of the kind of busbar shown in this video - you can easily replace breakers without shutting off the main switch (sure you can do that in a DIN board aswell but not quite as safely).

Because our regs are strict in a good way sometimes and absolutely useless in others 😂 We are also very friendly to corporations that supply all the equipment. This one specifically is very rare but used in high high end installs that need built in monitoring etc.
@AGRElectrics

They do skeleton boards here some fit them but rarely. Look better and easier to fit a DB that's all one brand aswell no issue with fitting etc. 🤷

We don't tend to fit Schneider (Eaton is the go to spec for clients) but I have a refurb coming up that needs new boards, I'll be watching this series and probably contacting Schneider UK about getting hands on as these look ideal for what the client has in plan for the site.

Fun fact the old Eaton site in Doncaster had only Merlin Gerin and Brand new schneider DB's. Spoke to maintenance guy and said. " Why don't you use the switchgear you make here?" His reply. "It's shite"
@effervescence5664
@effervescence5664 Год назад
@@kjgreen3 I can believe that, the older stuff was shite and I'm still not happy with Memshield3 and the newer stuff. Their Bognor site is all their own stuff last time I popped in though. This Schneider board has me intrigued though and I've heard good things from multiple sources so far so willing to swap.

One thing that’s become such a ‘thing’ is proper torque levels in DBs. But equipment isn’t checked for torque? And how often do torque screwdrivers need calibrated? And who pays for this? The employer? Not questions for you really Mike, just for discussion as I actually don’t know!

Great boards to terminate, but however built like tin foil , always swop the bottom panel with the top as the 8 20mm cutouts are to close together for armoured cable's , drill your own , and hanging a 95mm 4 core bends and mis shapes the bottom

Only thing I don’t like about these DB’s are the covers, bit flimsy and heavy when you can’t remove the door. I much prefer the Eaton cover where the door is removable.

Problem with the "wireless" rcbo is its single pole, to go dp you need to use two ways and the neutral extension bar. Also for 3 phase feeds you now need a vigi unit which swallow up ways.
@iotelectrical
@iotelectrical Год назад
They do a 3phase RCBO now that only takes up 3 ways

The A9D17316 is not compatible with those board SEA9BPN12 boards. The busbar arrangement is officially incompatible, although I imagine it would fit.

So the UK finally has a systematized panel board with built in bus bars. I guess Siemens has had stuff like this for a while in the UK but you never see anything like it on RU-vid residential install videos. The two things that always baffle me about UK electrics (besides the lingo) are a) the tiny size of residential main panels (at least as I perceive it on RU-vid) and b) that you need to use a copper bus bar because it's not systematized. Also weird is that the bus bars you use are uninsulated along the spine. Just a bare-ass piece of copper carrying the totality of the line load, just hanging out under your breakers. No big deal.
@johnhoward2104
@johnhoward2104 Год назад
Interesting video but there was too much of the side view of the board and flybying of the components. Given it was a construction video, would've been better to have seen more closeups of the components and in aerial views of the inside of the board i.e. to see what's going on inside the board. Also, there was the dreaded wobbly camera going on. Film directors opted for this a few years ago but got complaints about it promoting sea-sickness - I agree - it's awful, so give him a slap and tell him to hold the camera still - and if he can't do it, use a tripod! Looking forward to the next video.
