This was excellent. You explained everything you did and that helped tremendously. There r some of us that have never done anything like this so, to me, this was most helpful.

Beautiful! Inspiring ladies! I am almost finished w mine! 🎉❤️
@fordguyfordguy

these ladies did a fantastic job. Video was around 10 years ago, so there are better base materials available now, plus you should always use landscape fabric below the base to keep weeds and things from growing between your stones. Instead of sand, use high performance base or HPB from your loal big box store.

no road base, no compaction. in a year or two you are going to have issues with a very unlevel walkway

What extra measures would need to be taken place when building such a walkway that will have parts at an incline?

I have a concrete patio that I'd like to cover with sandstone. Any recommendations?

So the problem with the root found, is what? Change the path because of a root? Worried it would grow up between the stones? Thanks for your video, very helpful!

Super helpful video! Thank you so much. A few questions if you don't mind: 1. if I want to plant ground cover between stones, should I fill in the crevices with dirt instead of sand? 2. What kind of sand is best? 3. If I am laying the patio outside of my house, how many degrees should I slope it away from the house, or can I keep it level?
@OklahomaGardening
@OklahomaGardening 9 лет назад
Dani Nash If you're wanting something to grow between the stones you should use dirt as sand won't provide the same nutrients to the plants. As far as building a patio and the slope I would consult someone at your local home improvement store.
@steeleslandscapesllc.thewa4902
Nice video. We use a crushed limestone base as sand is not compact able

That was my question, how do you base this in? I wanna put a path that goes behind my house but it is on a slope and gets a lot of runoff water.

Nice video. I would just request that when you interview an expert that you let them do the talking. Bob Vila is really bad about adding advice. Thanks for the video.

i used sand as a base for flagstone with nothing else. patio has been in perfect shape for over 7 years now. i used mortar for filling in between the flagstones, and this makes it more of a solid patio; individual stones do not move when you step on them. but i like the natural use of sand in between. might try that next time. however, how do you avoid getting weeds coming up?
