Come along on the 2nd installment of the Permanent winter camp build.
I have my dog, Tripper with me, we snowshoe in to camp to check on the tent.
I was away and we got about 2 feet of heavy snow, so I needed to check that the camp was ok.
I build the exterior wall, build a floor and cook bacon and eggs on the woodstove and share it with my dog

I found myself watching a video by "Wild Woman Bushcraft" several weeks back, and enjoyed it. Her videos brought me back to my camping days in my youth and as a boy scout. Then in my search, RU-vid offered Joe Robinet. Since then, this old man has grown in his enjoyment of watching this young man's videos. Joe's enthusiasm, character, wittiness, and sincere realness, has offered me enjoyment in following him in his journey. Thanks Joe..

Oh Joe:))))))))..... To watch you is to love you...and smile, chuckle and shake my head:) Don’t know if you have a Grammy, but I’ve adopted you in my heart. You saved my mental health when I started watching you several years back because I became insomniac and somehow in the dark hours of sleeplessness I found you on RU-vid and followed you in all your baby steps to get where you are. Even now am watching you cook eggs and bacon in that cast iron your precious wife cured for you. She did a great job and so did you on your tent! I have to ask though.... what happens when the melt starts? Won’t you be in a pool of water?

Great video Joe. It's tough but be patient with Tripper. We lost our lab to cancer in December and now have about 2 months in on our new puppy. They are a handful but that's just them finding who they are with you. Great guy, great family, great vids. Keep em coming man

Tie trippers toy to a tree, it will keep him busy and out of your way while you work, I did that with my shepherd and it works great with a hyper dog. 👍

I live in Florida but grew up in upstate NY so I know winter camping. No bugs, camp fires are more fun, warm food just taste better. You and Tripper are living the good life.

I've seen you cold camp many times, sometimes in -25, and you even seem to enjoy it. I respect and admire that. To volunteer-ly face an ordeal to, IDK, meet the challenge? To overcome the adversity? Achieve a status of a great survivor, that you have. But it's nice to see that you're also normal XD, you can enjoy the coziness of a nice hot-tent. And Tripper, who lucked out and got a great owner, and you got a great family member, one beautiful happy pup. Good luck.:D

There are literally hundreds of survival/bushcraft channels on RU-vid these days,but Mr.Big Joe Robinet and Shawn james are by far the best. No other channel can you pull a joe.or be a peasant and still come out looking like a king. Joe your channel is AWESOME. best wishes from North Wales 🍺

Dogs will be dogs and you certainly do not abuse your dogs. It takes s long time to teach s young dog to calm down and not demand attention all the time. I'm an advocate and a foster of dogs and you Joe are a good furbaby dad.

Tripper is still young. I enjoy his fierce growls and playful attitude. He is very attentive and constantly learning. He is a great outdoorsman much like yourself. I have an inkling you feel he is not patient but Tripper is so much more patient than you are with him. He is a great dog for the right person and will make a great outdoorsmen as great as you are. Be patient, be kind, and keep up the teachable moments with rewards. Love your vids, mostly with Tripper in them lol, keep them coming!

Great videos and you can't expect not to have mold in a tent that's buried in snow and stays wet. That's part of bush crafting being wet. Tripper is a character, I love his facial expressions and whines. Keep up the great work.

Owell, I have a little rat terrier because of rats and all I can offer is that a puppy is a puppy and we were almost two years in before she settled down. It was tough but her life expectancy is at least 15 years so worth it. Plus, she's adorable.

I noticed you were struggling to keep your egg sandwich together. A silly trick I learned was to take an 18" square of parchment paper, wrap your sandwich up deli style, use your knife to cut it after forming the sandwich with your hands to make the sandwich take a solid form. It is silly since you are not taking your sandwich "to go" but does a lot in having your sandwich take form and not falling on the ground!

Whatever happened to that camp you were making for you and your little girl in your front yard so you would be close to home?
