That's brilliant! I built the Greenshank at around the same time. Mine was stich-and-tape. I wrapped some rope around the boom where it crosses the mast which has helped prevent damage in that area. I think I need to put a small window in my sail though because I have to keep lifting it with my hand when I'm sailing to see into the blind spot. I also put rowlocks on mine and she rows beautifully. And I built a short 'blanking plug' to put into the dagger board case for when I use the outboard. This stops the water from sloshing up the daggerboard housing and soaking me! I had to put two strips of wood onto the transom either side of the rudder pintles to sit the outboard onto otherwise the outboard motor bracket would foul the pintle. She's a great little boat and very easy to build. I'd recommend it to anyone with even the most basic skills.
A great little boat, skilfully built through your hard work and determination. I hope you enjoy many happy hours sailing her. I wish you fair winds and calm seas.keep safe and thank you for sharing.
hello, I want to build a small sailboat with a technique similar to yours. I have a question for you. While constructing the body, you used many thin wooden laths. did you use epoxy resin to glue these wooden snaps together?
@@terabon8863 My first project was a sea kayak. and I have successfully completed it. Now it's time to build a sailboat like you did. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2XnlFNzP2z8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iDFDmKamUMs.html
Thank you for your comment. I had sailing experience, but no woodworking experience. I chose the strip blanking method because it is difficult to obtain marine plywood in Japan. My original plan was to make an 11ft dinghy, but I made this boat for my own practice.
@@terabon8863 Superb! I love sailing since I was a kid. I still do not know how to sail, but I am going to start lessons soon. To buy a brand new boat is super expensive, that's why I am intending to build one for me by myself. I also do not have any experience in building boats. But I will construct one boat for sure. How long did it take to finalize the boat construction. Was it difficult for you?
@@sofytegmail I think that sailing experience is necessary to make a sailing boat. My boat has added air tanks and sail floats that were not in the original design. These are based on my sailing experience. It took me two years to build my boat.Even though I had no experience in woodworking, I chose the difficult strip blanking method, which gave me a lot of time to think about it. I've made a lot of mistakes, but I'm glad I made my own boat. I expect you to start sailing and making your own boat.
@@terabon8863 Thank you for yours encouraging words. Did you have to buy many expensive tools? And about winter? Did you stop your boat construction when it was cold?
@@sofytegmail I don't have expensive power tools. All I have is an electric screwdriver, an electric circular saw, an electric saw, an electric router, and an electric sander. I made the table for the table saw myself. I also made the router table myself. In winter, I use winter hardeners, but the epoxy still doesn't harden below 10 ° C. I worked while checking the temperature in winter.
I have a question, what is the height of the boat, was it true to the original plan? the plan is specified at 45 cm, it looks a little higher on a boat built for you.
Hello, I have one more question for you. What is the wood type of the wooden strips that you made the body of and what is the thickness of these strips? thanks
@@terabon8863 hello, I have built a similar boat. You can check out the video on my channel. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-282llwoiyjY.html
