I can't help but be sooo impressed wth the two of you working so hard day after day to build yr home what an extraordinary couple of young ppl you are.. have tou thought of making some mud bricks? They could be a lovely feature inside too!! And they can be constructed so you could create a recess in the wall where you cld put a vase or statue or candle. .

Fabulous, How home large is the entire house all together? Is it half and half up meaning the same sq tootage on both floors? 10 years to get it all built is very realistic. What a fantastic adventure for such as darlin* couple. Your home is very beautiful it's a are wonderful building.

To save yr backs you should put the bucket up on a stool or table to make it easier to mix the clay and straw.

oh my!!! You guys are so industrious! How about (easy for me to say!) a sort of pulley system to transport the earth the the second floor thru that nice window opening??!! More building, I understand. But may be used for a while and for other items too in your journey. 😅

Sorry! Another question: how will you finish the clay &straw walls? I thought it was simply for insulation. Amazing. I will look it up. Thank you for opening opportunities for learning. Your hard work is paying off for many. ❤❤❤

This is SO interesting to me. I would never have thought of making a wall out of clay and straw. My questions are… 1- Does it start flaking away once dry? I would think some type of adhesive or binder would be needed to hold the everything in place. 2- Are you covering the wall with any type of wood? So is it the straw and clay mixture like an insulation? I’m so intrigued to see the end result.

How do the earthen walls get finished off? Are they painted directly? Plastered first? I’ve not seen walls done this way before. It’s fascinating.
@wegrowild
@wegrowild 5 месяцев назад
Once they dry, we'll plaster them with a mix of clay, sand and lime and that layer will be around 2/3 cm thick 🤍
@bigblackdogfiberarts
@bigblackdogfiberarts 5 месяцев назад
@@wegrowild So does the plaster go directly on the walls or do you have to do a plaster and lathe sort of thing to make it stick? We had plaster and lathe walls in the house I grew up in, but there was nothing behind the lathe. I suppose I could just be patient and just keep watching til you get to that part and post a video… lol
