Glad to see your cat helped you. One of my cats always helps me (I think he is addicted to the glue), and so makes it take twice as long. Couldn't do it without him.
Really enjoy your quality build matched by your video presentations. Much prefer this to video shorts but this is YT trying to create another monetary stream. Keep the videos coming along because you make such huge statements, both historical and political, which I can only agree with. I have missed your contribution on YT but if your mind was elsewhere over Covid, I understand. I did eventually get to see my 3 kids, just recentlly, and despite being at the coal face as Drs and a nurse in the NHS, they saw so much heartache at such a young age 24 and 23 (twins). Cheers, Mike
Thanks Mike! I'm trying to keep my full length videos going. The 15 second shorts are convenient but will never replace the full videos. There's more to come 😊. It's really kind to say such nice things about my contribution to RU-vid. Yes, COVID has been in my mind but I think it's true for most everyone. After taking the vaccines, my life seems brighter and brighter. Recently I flew in the B-29 bomber and life seems more promising for me. It's great to hear that you get to see your 3 children again (I guess you were away because fears spreading COVID) 😊. I'm assuming that you work for the NHS. I heard so many positive and brave things you done for your country and for your people! I heard a lot UK residence put you in the highest esteem! Although I am not a UK resident, I still want to say thank you for helping your people and your country!!! 👍
@@qdc748a Thank you for the acknowledgement. Throughout the pandemic front line NHS workers were constantly at risk and it comes as no surprise lives were lost. Fortunately for my family, I have been spared this and, touch wood, pray that Covid will run its course and disappear and life can return to some sort of normality. Sometimes I feel resentful of those people who, for whatever reason, decide not to have the vaccine. I wish that they can see the damage of not having a vaccine has and the long term issues people have been left with having contracted Covid. I lost my best friend to it, a healthy, sport loving participant who died suddenly when a clot from his lung travelled to his heart. He didn't stand a chance but has left behind a young family and a widow. Anyway thank you for acknowledging the work the staff of the NHS does in trying to treat those unfortunates who have succumbed to Covid -19. Cheers Mike
If you're wondering why there's a lot of variation in this kit, Airfix essentially asked South Korean model kit company "Academy" to rebox their already-existing M36 Jackson kit for European release (M36 wasn't the only kit that Airfix got the license to locally-produce, as they also licensed the M18 Hellcat kit for EU release). The actual original brand where this kit was created from (which i own) has the necessary instruction to build and differentiate the Jackson of your chosing out of the 6 options you have - either you want to build it as one of the either 3 that is WW2 version between battle of the Bulge to the 1945 version , or the other 3 Post-War ROKA Korean war / French RCBEO Indochina war version. Unfortunately, what you have construction is an M36 Jackson that was an amalgamation of not only both WW2 and Post-WW2 details, but also amalgamation of French version; most of the details checks out as WW2-period Jackson (complete with the lack of turret roof), but you instead chose the post-war M3A1 rifled gun version with Bore evacuator (which doesn't exist yet in WW2), front armor with hull MG (which was only added to all M36 Jackson that was sent to other countries like France and South Korea after WW2), and an M1919A4 pintle-mount, which is the setup that the French RBCEO mostly chose when deploying their M36 Jackson to Indochina in 1952. However the assembly process is quite helpful to say at least, as i can use this as reference and note when i start to assembly the M36 kit.
Very well done Collin! The M36 Jackson is an impressive vehicle and only recently i found out that it was kept in service in Yugoslavia until 2001. I made a video about that, it is not yet released though.
I have done the M18 hellcat from academy and one from italeri, great kits both. Looking at this one, i may need to grab another one. Great job done building this one Colin. Looking forward to see your next project. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work.
Thanks Damon!!! 😃 Although the instructions from Airfix is poor, the kit itself is really good. Also, it wasn't that expensive either. I purchased it for $38.00. Comparable kits that has a good interior cost more so this is a good value for the money. 😃
Beautiful build! You did a masterful job of painting and highlighting, and your weathering effects turned out really nice. Thanks for making the video, I think I see an M36 build in my future!
Nice model with the extra of participation of your cat, nice!!. Interesting model because remember us the facts in the Battle of Bulge, sure that saw action in the crucial battle of Bastogne. Keep smiling and go ahead!!!
You are so nice to say that!!! 😊 My cat has been hanging out with my constantly lately like glue. I don't know why? Yes, Battle of the Bulge is an important event. 😊
@@qdc748a Well, my cat, Pancho, do the same when he want receive attention or eat something extra, is his way of call your attention quickly. He was funny examinating the pieces of the model, sure had the idea of that they could be eat.
@@Feliciajudo 😃 I think Buster wants a combination of love and food. He wants my attention and also it's kind of a way to harass me for food. He loves food. I think Buster is like your cat Pancho. He was thinking about eating my model kit 😊.
@@qdc748a LOL well yes, is normal because the cats are naturally curious, always exploring..But he look cute and obedient and very fluffy. Will be interesting see your next project, maybe elements of the Battle of Bulge..Panther of Germany, Firefly of Great Britain, or maybe a Kubelwagen
Job well done! Your videos always satisfy my hunger for scale modelling, the way you paint and weathering it makes the model look alive like it was in real life. Please always update us on your next project in your #shorts I can't wait for your next project.
Very nice build. More parts than I expected. I find Academy instruction sheets sometimes unclear too, I guess Airfix adopted that. I love the sound of your clock, it’s soothing. Looking forward to the Superfortress build 😉
Thanks!!! 😃 This was a complicated kit but it was fun to build. My next kit is the Academy B-29 bomber. It's going to be challenging too. The hardest part is to paint it shinny like a mirror. I ordered Alcad paints to get the look and it should be coming soon. Once I get it, I need to practice my painting skills on other kit to get it right. Wish me luck on painting. I need it. 😊
Thank you. I used an old Paache Model H airbrush. It's old but it still works very well for my applications. I just used it applying Alclad paints for the first time and that old airbrush done the job flawlessly.
Excellent results qdc! 👍👍 Were there any fit issues, or gaps that had to be filled & sanded? 🤔 BTW, it was fun to see the kitty with the kit. Your black & white cat is cute....you did a wonderful job pre-shading him/her! 😉😁😂
Hi Derek, the instructions were poor when it comes to using other options. When I added the bow machine gun, it altered the fit of the upper hull to the lower hull. I had to use a grinder to grind some of the plastic off of the right hand side transmission area. Take a good look at the interior, you can see the grind marks that I've done. The only filling and sanding are typical areas all kits have such as the gun barrel and the two halves of the turret. But most of the alterations was from inside the tank. I hope this helps 😃. Thanks for my cat and my paint job 👍
Hi QDC.... A very nice Model kit....😁 I like the way you did your Videos a lot 👍💪 But maybe you remember at me.... Why do you make so short Videos.... 🤷♂️ You have a lot of work with this very nice Model!!! And we can see just 13 min... 🤷♂️🤷♂️ It's not worth it.... 🤦♂️🤷♂️
Hi Mike. Thanks. I've been doing the short 15 second videos just to let my audience know of my progress of this kit. Some of my audience finds it convenient to know my progress. However, it will never replace the full video presentation like this one. 😊. I normally have my videos run anywhere from 12 to 20 minutes. I found out that people's interests in my videos are about that time. Any longer, people will start losing interests. 😃 But occasionally, I will make videos longer than 20 minutes. Take care
Seeing the crispness and exceptional quality of the plastic makes one realise just how crappy Airfix's own soft plastic is. Regardless of how accurate or innovative their kits otherwise are, the poor quality of the tooling & plastic lets them down.
I agree that Airfix does have a reputation of using older technologies or re-releases of their classic kits but they are trying. I think this joint venture with Academy is the step in the right direction.
@@qdc748a yes, and I would certainly hope that they would release more kits that are made in Korea. The new kits are still nice, I got tens of them in my stash (more than any other brand), and Beaufort mk I on the way. Sometimes you just wish that it wouldn't be necessary to scrape and clean every single parts, and guess where the kit part ends and where the burrs and seam lines start.
I think the cat built the kit... you're just taking the credit!! ;) Beautiful model as always and thank you very much for another great entry for the 'All Things Airfix Group Build'.. :)
Buster has to be the most well behaved putty tat I have ever seen, sits next to the kit and doesn't even try to swipe it off the table, what a good kitty ! Excellent job on the Jackson Colin, I might even have a go at one of these Academy/Airfix M36 Jacksons myself.
Looks great as always. Curious do you ever watch other modelling channels who get really anal about their pin washes, filters and chipping, and try to incorporate that in your builds?
Thanks. I've returned to this hobby ten years ago and I gotten to a point in my hobby to just do what I like. That being said, if you suggest any videos on RU-vid I will be happy to watch it. Take care. 😃
yes came out great thare and yes the fuzzy co star a must get that treat yes good all the whay round QVC see as post new now treat that star of show LOL
Thanks. Probably not. I want to focus my attention to the Academy B-29 kit I just bought. I need to practice on painting the B-29 to look shiny like a mirror. I ordered Alcad paints to get the look. I need to practice on a separate model first. I plan to make a video on that. Wish me luck!!! 😊
Hi Qdc, i'm from Italy, many compliments for this model and these before, but what i really love is yr Cat, fantastic, like mine Baldo (white/black like yrs) and Lello Red flame like a Tiger! Give to him a big kiss for me! Hoping soon to watch a new job! Have a marvellous week and healthy life!
Thank you!!! 😃 My cat's name is Buster. I'm flattered that you think my model kit looks good. Your cat Baldo sounds like a nice cat. Yes, I will tell Buster your message for him. My next kit will be the Academy B-29 bomber. It's a challenging kit because I need to figure out a way to paint the bomber shinny like a mirror. Wish me luck. I wish you and your family safe from COVID. 😃😊
Great build David ! It looks easier than the AFV Club M-10 , It fought me all the way. Lots of warpage ! Hope all of you are doing well. Buster looks great. Have a great / safe weekend .🐱👤
Thanks!!! I love the drinking bird and my cat. Lately, my cat has been wanting to hang out with me more and more. My next kit will be the Academy B-29 bomber.
Thanks for watching! I'm on a new project. I'm trying to learn to use Alclad metal paints. I want to use it on my ultimate project of building Academy B-29 bomber. 😃
