I am learning SO MUCH! Like... don't get a used Airstream and build it out. Yeah... definitely don't do that. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching YOU rebuild an Airstream.

"Now, where to begin? Maybe take a nap and get a beer... That's it." LOL That's generally my approach, as well. 😅 "Zip, zap, zoop! There is sawdust in my zapatos." Just want you to know, that I am subscribed to several DIY/builder / carpentry channels, and the reason I like yours so much is because of your goofy personality. I mean, you're incredibly talented as well- but the fun takes your work from an A to an A+. Thank you for being a bright spot in my week! 😊

I was thinking the same thing. The pex was resting on top of the metal wheel wells. Being pex it’s less likely to burst, but still not good to have frozen.

Not a good idea - you will lose editorial control, have to perform to a fixed schedule and introduce a level of drama that is not your style. Plus you will have to replace your foreman with an actor because he is under-age!

Man I work in a cabinet shop full time, and I build everything getting the door and dresser fronts, to the face frames, and cabinet assembly. Anyhow all that just to say. That's how we do drawer fronts, once they get down where the panel is so small. We do solid drawer fronts. And we do the shaker style on everything else. So you made the right choice my friend! Well at least in my opinion you made the right choice! Take it easy!

We have fairly new shaker-style cabinets in our bathroom and kitchen. In the bathroom the top drawers are smaller than the rest so they have solid drawer fronts, all of the other drawers are big enough to work with shaker style drawer fronts.

I ran into exact same issue with my kitchen drawer faces. Just made the rails narrower than the stiles on the top row of drawers. It doesn’t look the slightest bit odd. If you didn’t know, you would never notice. Just cut a half inch off the non grooved side of each rail and make a new center panel 1 inch taller. Extra inch in the middle may do the trick. Might be worth making one to see what you think? Enjoying your airstream struggle more than I thought I would. Keep ‘em coming. 👊🏻

A bit late, but I would suggest adding a tiny shelf from the front of the wheel well to the front of that cabinet. It would break the large, awkward space into two smaller, less awkward-to-use spaces (and I think the smaller space looks about right for canned goods). And for the record, the wallpaper really looks cool. It fits with the retro vibe.

Did the same thing. If you're using 1x3's for constructing shaker doors, as Jason found, it looks stupid, proportionally, when you get to drawer fronts.
@B-13-Official
@B-13-Official Год назад
You should definitely build your drawers deeper brother. Even if it means that you have to use other rails. In an Airstream you should really use every little gap. And please do a quick test on your waterlines. Keep it on brother💪 you are doing a great job. Love your Channel❤️
@kevinshaw4493
@kevinshaw4493 Год назад
Thanks for the great channel. You will need something in addition to a soft close mechanism to keep the drawers closed when moving. A push to open mechanism might help but I think you will want a latch based option. Slam latches from the boat world work the best but they need to mount further into the middle of the door/drawer face than a shaker style will allow. Magnets are a better option than the plastic RV catches. I'm assuming you will want something flush or very low profile for the tight space. Moving the oven over one bay to the right will make cooking easier and give you counter and drawer space by the door which is helpful in my van experience. It would also give access to the water heater by removal of the oven unit rather than pulling the cabinet system as a whole. Also replace the traditional p-trap with a Hepvo inline flap type to save space and simplify the connection.

Excellent series! One suggestion for a small upgrade, you might want to consider pull outs in the lower cabinets, you could even use more of the paper for the bottoms. That gets you better access to the rear of the cabinets without getting on hands and knees. Even put a notch in the rear of one for the water/drain lines. Keep it up, so much fun to watch

As always, enjoyed the video, really enjoying the build. She is a beauty. Also good to see your wife loves the wallpaper and you love her so much you support her in this! Thank you for the series! I do have a question however. Aren't you worried about moisture with all those unprotected plywood sides? Especially in the wheel well where you're running your waterlines? I can't believe you did not use a layer of your favorite epoxy on all the faces, but you never mentioned it.
