This is an amazing series, it was also amazing when Aman did it. You should definitely do a heartfelt shout out in the intro of the next video and just say "I'm doing a take on Aman's Habits series, but focusing on specific openings like the Caro Kann", etc..
This is so much better than the so called "chessbrah" series. I was never able to follow his rules but now that you have used the exact same name, idea, thumbnail and rules I am finally able to follow along. Don't support that "chessbrah" guy!
In the first game: at move 17 I would have been tempted to play ... Nd3+ as this forks the King and Queen forcing the King to move to either c2 or b1 which would leave a revealed check when 18... Nxf4 . Black could then either save the rook on C8 or sac it with 19... Rxc3 which looks like it is winning to me.
Nice. I liked the chessbrah series using these rules. Its great that I can see the rules applied to Caro. I wonder if you can do same with London. I bought your Chessable Caro and London courses. I just started learning London. I been familiar with Caro for a few months though. I just started playing chess in March and currently 820 rapid. Looking to break through 1000s with caro and london
Alex, I'd say your Caro videos (and London videos/course) are responsible for taking me from about 1200 to 1600 rapid in the last 5 months. Can we get a series for black against 1. d4?
I LOVE what you're doing here! I'm a bit more advanced, but the simplicity in your play makes me feel more confident in learning new openings and jumping into unfamiliar territory. It's almost like chess is, I dunno, a game? Like, you're supposed to have fun? I know, crazy talk. 😀
Master class and superior to other streamers where they show you an opening and proceed to play the game at a 2000 elo level leaving beginners and intermediates completely lost.
Great approach and demonstration! Good philosophy when losing on the clock, as you pointed out, what is important at that stage is to get the winning position. Well done!
3:59. Rook on d1 and knight on d2 constitute the Murphy Wall. White king is 'on the block', no square to move to. The first SOP is to look to the knights to checkmate. Second SOP is to look to the bishop and queen for a diagonal attack.
instructive. i would argue it doesn't matter what opening you play under expert level. If you maintain piece safety and scan for unguarded pieces you will win more often that not.
I've just reached 900 after six months starting from scratch. I had never played a single game before that. How long did it take you? I'm hoping to get to a 1000 rating. That would be so great! I'm thinking about buying Alex's Caro and London courses. Maybe Gotham's too.
@@PedroDiMaggio-dk4lbI’m 869 and it’s taken just under 2 and a half months. Apparently once you reaching a thousand it gets easier, I know a couple of people who have went to 800 and 900 to 1700 in around 6-8 months
@@AlexBanzea That's SUCH an under the radar credit. Not every person who watches a video on RU-vid opens the credits. You're truly trying to pass this off as your own.
Pointing out the brilliant tactics but playing the "safe" move anyway is an excellent teaching strategy. Love the idea for this series. If I can suggest for this series, could you show the typical variation with Bishop F5 instead of going into the Tartakower? I think most beginner players wouldn't want to go into such a sharp attacking line when attacking the Knight with the Bishop is a lot more natural (and you have a lot of other videos showcasing the Tartakower).
Cuz of your belief in the CARO-KANN ,it has got me hooked and your teaching style is fresh and unique. Please do a rating climb with caro kann and vienna openings spclly the caro. But whenevr i try the caro online,it never goes as demonstrated....i know these are good building habits but being a GM/IM sees the board in a different way which we will never get.
I absolutely love this series! It helps a lot to hear “beginner tips” from you, even though I consider myself an intermediate chess player. Makes it a lot easier to get more grip on all the theory :)
I am saying this as a huge fan, but I think Caro Kann is not a great beginner opening for black in 500-600 range. As someone who started in that range with the jobava and caro openings based on Alex's videos -- Jobava was great, but I really struggled and got suffocated with Caro.... maybe I am anomaly, but I had way more success as beginner with Kings Indian. I am now passed 1000 and have come back to Caro and it is working good now though
You did the bishop line now. Btw you are gonna to face the tal line. I still love the c5 variation. You videos helped me a lot on the caro kann. You are genius guy. I used the caro kann sucessfully in otb tournament.
Hey alex, i liked the Brah Series on building Habits too. I suggest you add new context for the future for previous mistakes made and make a mental note on how we apply our new 'knowledge'. Also would like this Series to be for both black and white pieces (personally i would hope for a Jobava Series up to 2000-2300). I really enjoy all of your Videos and i suggest you post the Videos more frequently/daily if you can to boost you Channel as it needs to have more subs than you currently do :) Edit #2: I didnt like that you didnt take the hanging Rook in the last game although ur rules state you should. Probably against the Character of the Series ;-)
This is cool, I will be playing alongside with you against a handicapped chess engine to mimic the lower rated players till you reach my blitz rating of 1500.
I just started playing chess a few months ago. I can solve puzzles as highly rated as 1800 but manage to lose games to 700 rated opponents. Is this normal?
Oof... I like you Alex and I guess you obviously read one of my comments on a Chessbrah video... You've even used the same graphic Aman used in his amazing Building Habits series. I think this is a bit close to the mark in terms of content influence (and I'm being ultra polite here). Don't support this guy
So you stole Chessbrah content and I am guessing you were ashamed enough to stop this series since a new episode still hasn't dropped, but you're not ashamed enough to take the vid down because it will get views. Gotcha
Kind of disappointed, not for the quality of the content but by how blatantly you ripped off Chessbrah's series. The graphics, the rules, the thumbnail, the caption, etc.... Wouldn't be surprised to see this video get copystruck
It would be nice if you just adapt the rules slowly while climbing the ladder (i.e. at 1000 elo sacs available and no longer forbidden). What do you think?
Super good video and new series! I have a question. I know in the advanced, your recommendation is 3. c5 for most people, particularly lower elos. Under what circumstances might you suggest one explore the main lines 3. Bf5? I realize there is more theory and some scary lines involved.
Plagiarism is the fraudulent representation of another person's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. At least change the thumbnail. Did you fly to Canada and copy Aman's homework to while you were at it.
Hey Alex, just wanted to let you know that you've been fundamental to understanding plans in the middle game. Appreciate your work! Maybe we can collab one day if you want to teach an amateur haha.
Aman just made a hit-piece on you in the introduction to his latest Sicilian Speedrun... called you "scummy" etc. I on the other hand feel that you were going to the "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery" approach, knowing your type of humor. I kinda understand that it could be seen as plagiarism, but you did give a shoutout in the description. I just hope you and Aman could've talked it in private, instead of him throwing you under the bus on live stream. I really hope you and Aman can sort this thing out. Lots of love
It wasn’t a “hit piece” per se as the video wasn’t dedicated to bashing Alex, but he did make comments that he felt the mention in the description was a bit hidden and a more vigorous shoutout was warranted
@@banzaiburger9589 he also said "I don't feel very flattered. It's about how you feel. I don't feel flattered, so i was like trying to think to myself - man why don't I feel flattered right now?". It so hurts when I recall his words. Poor Aman. We need to do something to make sure he feels flattered.
Hi Alex, great to see a building habits for black with the caro ❤. It would be too much to ask for a counterpart with white? Maybe intercalating with building habits with black…
😂😂😂 This video is hilarious. I'm looking forward to seeing my game level.🤣 By the way Alex, can you win please? (just to develop the habit of winning😉)
All of my success has come from the Karo Cann and the London System due to your videos. True enough, I am at a stalemate with my rating. However, it is only because I, for some reason, blunder my Queen a lot. I usually resign after I make that mistake but even when up in so much material, I get comfortable and blunder my Queen sometimes.
