No I like what you guys are doing you're inspiring me for my ideas on my truck I want a different direction different than you guys did when I get done with the videos I'll post them
How well you planned the railings! A crawling baby out in the spring sunlight will be perfectly safe because you put the re-bars close together.. All you will need when the time comes is a hinged and lockable gate at the top of the stairs. Btw I think the metal treads on the steps are excellent for snow and mud.
The front and back of sled runners needs tubes that connect both sides together. Current design will bend sled runners to right or left when striking an object in the snow. This will also help to keep wheels all aligned. Cool project!!! 😎👍✌️
I've been watching your videos for a few months now and I finally got around to this build. I've always wanted to build a set using sled tracks. You guys gave me all the missing info I needed. Hopefully I can get some built and maybe we'll see you guys while we're at our place in Northern Idaho as well ✌️
At 21:46 you're showing the track on the wrong side. At least I think as you likely built the slight upward slope to be on the front of the track. Can't wait to see these in action. We're already planning on being snowed in at our place :)
One thing I know about hifax .. metal guides + plastic + friction = lots of heat & melting of hifax. Cold snow prevents issues on snowmobiles. Not sure how yours will work out. (You're likely finding out already since I'm still playing catch up) You also may be aware there's another Casey in Oregon with a red Jeep on tracks. He did have one issue with wet snow packing up in his "wheel/sprocket" which started pushing his track away from his sprocket, but he had a good for that. His channel is Casey Ladelle (I think).
Trestle Cr. and Lunch peak here we come...ski the burn scars from this summer? Pick me up at the bottom of the road, lets go! Snow down to 2300' this Sunday...
I wonder if you get new messages from older videos? Looks like you like bacon like i like bacon, crispy. My wife used to work like you do. I am 72 and Becky is 66. Becky spends most of her time sewing, and gardening now. We ought 10 acres in Hayfork Ca worked on it for about 5 years then. Cleaned it up built a couple off grid buildings. I bought a 1959 case 1000 track loader, man that was a blast i built a couple driveways with it. Then i bought 5 acres in the Mariposa area built 7 buildings put a well in bought a round a 1974 350B case dozer it had a 6 way blade fun as heck. Now i bought 1.8 acres in Oregon and a 1937 d4 caterpiller. Keep having all the fun you are having. Love you videos
This stuff is so complex! I felt like we should be taking notes while he was giving us the explainer. Lol. It is great seeing Riley doing something he knows better than just about everyone, building Jeep stuff!
Unfortunately I now have to just check in with you guys monthly. I cannot handle the wait time between videos. So I will just have to watch as each project is completed. Thankyou you both so much.
Ur the MAN! That is so cool, nothing much borks u guys, that is a massive engineering undertaking. I started watching ur channel for ur solar bunker setup several weeks ago, and have been binging on ur stuff ever since. Big Boys need Big Toys! Keep em coming.
i noticed one of your last vids you guys said you went to cal poly, thats my hometown. if you guys ever in town id like to buy you two a beer and pick your brain about the process of buying raw land and building
I can’t believe how quick you are knocking that out! You are making a modern tucker snow cat. If it works, you need to hire out ski rides back country!
You will need to add adjuster screws and nuts to the frame of the tracks so the bolted wheels to not move on you when you are driving otherwise they will loosen up and move to the inside of the overall dimension and the track will fall off after binding and making all kinds of noise before falling off completely. Also you will need to put torsion arms on the rear tracks to keep you from rolling the tracks up on the body of the jeep and also adding support to the front tracks to stop them from hitting the body
