In todays video I give y’all a full updated walkthrough on the shop house, with our new mics! Let me know how the audio sounds compared to before! Then we start to weld the cross sections of the front privacy fence in, and get a roller out to complete the roads and get them all packed down evenly! I also purchase a four post lift for inside the shop that will need to paint and install, and lastly got a lot more land cleared down in the valley of the ranch!
Let me know what y’all think in the comments below, and follow along with the series by subscribing to my channel and dropping a like to show some support so I keep the videos coming thank y’all!!!
I offer diesel repair, customization, lift kits, wheels/tires & full scale builds at my shop near San Antonio, Texas! Dm me on Instagram @fordsixfo for a quote!

Recommendation - Paint the inside back wall of the house white (cover that black wall with white), and paint the underside of the flooring on the catwalk white. This will help a lot with lighting, especially when you have many vehicles inside and want to take photos, video, etc.
@fordsixfo
@fordsixfo Год назад
👀👀 I think I may do under the floors white and then on top of them black! White paint fit inside how is a for sure!

I would do the epoxy with flake in it. Make sure you go right up the concrete half walls on the sides and back. Also I would consider doing the floors prior to installing lifts and outfitting it a 100% You should put the sink in the island so you can see outside while you do dishes.

Bedrooms require a full size window that can be used for egress in the event of a fire, home invasion, etc. Regardless of building codes, if the room doesn't have a window, it won't be considered as a bedroom if you opt to sell the property in the future.

On the floor, I would discourage using black. Not saying it would defiantly look bad but It's not going to give you good light. Also if you look at most custom auto builder's shops they have light colored floors to help spot and clean messes. Black is just going to look dirty and make clean up harder. I would say look up show room shops and the like and see what they have and ask why.

@@fordsixfo Also got to thinking about it more last night. Another reason I would not want a black floor in my shop. When working on a vehicle up on a lift having the lack of reflective light from the floor would be a real issue. I have had to work underneath vehicles in my gravel driveway in low light. Even with work lights setup, the shadowing always makes visibility difficult. Not to mention trying to find a nut or bolt I dropped nearly impossible. Even under the hood, it's like looking into a pit.
@MadGunner
@MadGunner Год назад
Agreed on using a light color floor (e.g. white, light gray or equivalent), especially for light reflection. If using flakes on the floor, especially a white/gray/black random pattern, finding small items that get dropped is hard (e.g. metal screws, nuts, etc.), but dust and debris don't stand out as much. Gloss and semi-gloss floors (e.g. polished concrete, MMAs, Polyaspartics, Urethanes, or an epoxy that includes a clear top coat) will boost the overall brightness in the shop due to light reflection. Solid colors help the most to find small dropped parts.

Polish and stain the concrete, Trust me itll look better and hold up better over the years than an epoxy, especially if you use it day in and day out

I honestly was really considering this aswell I just can’t decide a color of stain and I guess I’ll throw a good sealer over the stain?

@@fordsixfo Yeah, My college's shop for Medium heavy duty truck class was massive and they just had their floors polished and sealed most economical way to do it. Look up some YT videos of companies who polish some of them can do some cool looking stuff or just basic polishing and from there the floor is already shiny and smooth a sealer is just a plus

Personally favorite of white epoxy with chips. Normal dust doesn't show up as bad as black but things like oil leaks stand out while overall increasing the brightness of the shop without needing to flood it with lights just so it doesn't look dark especially with the black walls and ceilings your talking about.

Hi , Before the plumber and electrician get busy, maybe think about adding windows in 2 of the bedrooms . Its required here in Alberta Canada to call it a bedroom. Also, wanted to ask... are you a mechanic and do you repair/build custom vehicles for living in this new shop? I heard you say you are selling the big grey truck and smaller blue truck, so I am curious what you will do with this barndominium shop part? Enjoying watching a young guy get started .

Killer video man, love it! The property and shop are coming along nicely! On the floor, I like the black base idea. I would mix at least two (preferably three) different color flakes to give it a "textured" look. Just my two cents. And as a side note, building code in Dallas requires windows in all bedrooms. Not sure about code where you are in hill country, but I would hate for you to get hit for that if it is a code requirement
