An idea for a video would be to go to a local 3-D club and do a shoot. Here in the Midwest, 3-D clubs are getting killed off with low participation numbers. It would be cool to showcase a club and shoot to help draw new shooters. Just an idea. Great video Tim!

Absolutely agree. I'm from Ontario Canada and luckily our numbers are actually doing well. Covid was a big hit, but last year had some pretty good numbers and it seems like there's even more tournaments in the works for this coming season. For all the hunters out there that do not shoot local shoots.... do it. There is no better way to learn to shoot under pressure than shooting in a competitive environment. You will feel the nerves of shooting with new people, shooting for your best score, beating your buddy.... its the best practice you can get bar none and the people you meet are awesome. If you have been thinking about doing one, just go.... if you like archery, you will enjoy it guaranteed.

Tim will hit 100k. Tim's content is always great and he has the ability teach and entertain at the same time. Having a full pro shop at your finger tips and the support of Josh Jones is huge . Couple that with the hard work he is willing to put forth and his expertise in film making, makes a recipe for success. It is already one of my favorite channels on RU-vid!

You and many other RU-vidrs really helped get me into archery and hunting during the back half of 2023. I bought my first bow, shot as much as possible, and went out hunting this Saturday, the second to last day of the season… but my very FIRST time hunting. Killed my first doe and couldn’t hardly believe it. Keep grinding in 2024, Tim. Hope this year is a year of growth for you!

I know it would be a lot of work, but hear me out. We all register with you for a shootout for so many weeks. 20 yards one week , 20,30 40 the next. Followed by a 20 and a 40,30,20 the following weeks. We submit a score kinda of like a faux league. It's all a honesty based but we all have fun, compare where we are and where we end up. We all shoot at our local shops weekly. It would force us to go out weekly or more. Get the reps in now and maybe if it works out figure out a summer 3D challenge. We can all grow together and maybe find shooting buddies in our local area that we didn't know existed.

Stoked to see you doing some of your own building of the bow! I am curious why your back bar is so kicked out? Your Hoyt was that way too, grip pressure, Torquage of the bow, release/face pressure? Just curious but might be a cool video idea shoot a bunch of different stabilizer set ups and see and feel the difference… keep up the good work!
@mczuy1

I’m not Tim but I run a similar setup, the whole idea is to have the bow level itself. So if you draw back with your eyes closed and anchor in the bubble in your sight should be level so you don’t have to use your wrist to manipulate the angle of the bow, thereby lowering the chances that you will torque it on the release.

Hey Tim there is a drive screw on the front of bow where the grip is to move that grip in and out. It wasnt designed to pull out then tighten. Loosen the two side set screws then turn the drive screw until you get the desired grip position then tighten the set screws back . Friendly tip 🙂

Shot the core ss, core sr, Lift 33 and apha x 33 yesterday and left with the Lift. It was down to the core ss and the lift...both nice draw cycles and both held well. Something about the lightweight feel of the mathews is what put me over the edge. I know everyone is different and feel is hugely subjective. Glad I took you and MFJJ's advice and shot several different ones before making a decision.

My perspective on arrow clocking . . . Like Josh said, it takes so little effort for even a tiny improvement then it's worth it. To those who say "even the pros can't notice a difference so it won't affect you." In all aspects of archery: perfect bow tune, perfect nock fit, balanced arrow, foc, optimal spine strength, broad head balance, broad head weight, spine alignment, nock tuned, consistent fletchings, perfect form, string pressure bow balance, etc. etc. If everything is perfect (as pros strive for) then a small change really won't make a difference. But for amateurs especially, who rarely ever have their form perfect let alone everything else, it makes a more noticeable difference. When 19 out of 20 things are perfect it doesn't matter. But when someone with bad form is in windy conditions, nerves through the roof, arrow setup off the shelf, their tune is close enough by Jimbo at Bass Pro and their fletchings are contacting their jacket sleeve, with at twisted D-loop that is set too tight to their nock, it matters on what you can improve.

Ez-glide for the rest cord, back up o-ring sitting on the rebound dampner. O-ring breaks or rots, no need to take it apart. Slide new O-ring on Ez-glide. No spring, Super ez to adjust. The whole reason I like that set up is no allen key needed and super fast
@trtjr22
@trtjr22 5 месяцев назад
I’d really like to see a video where you test different arrow speeds against each other. Not all of us have the most advanced efficient bow. I hear people talk about different arrow weights but that might not apply to me as well if my bow is slower than the newest whizzbang bow. So if I have a slower bow should I drop the arrow weight to reach some minimum speed threshold or up the weight to have maximum penetration?

I’m not sure if the trend is moving towards less bow builds. But I hope that never happens. I love seeing the bow builds and will watch all you can put out there. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s random customers. I love the bow builds. I would’ve like to seen the first step in how you got your nocking points tho. I feel as tho that’s a vital step. However for the sake of time I’m sure that’s why it wasn’t included. I heard Josh throw in there about “that’s why you start on the bottom one first” I’d like to know why
@Matt-jl8xf
@Matt-jl8xf 5 месяцев назад
On a dual cam binary bow... which is most modern bows, the nocking point should be very close to dead center of the string. Measure it, nock and arrow and you will see the berger hole is right there. Theres a few ways you can get your nock point. Level the bow in a vise and run your arrow through the berger hole. Some people run it dead center, others run the arrow through the top half of the berger hole. Either is okay. I do my nock points by measuring dead center on the string, clip in a nock, and then I tend to put the center of my nock somewhere between 1/32nd and 1/16th high of dead center. This usually gets me just a touch above center of the berger.... But tuning will dictate exactly where the rest ends up. It does not matter if you tie in the upper or lower point first, as long as they are in the right spots and you leave a bit of room for nock pinch, which is usually about one strand of serving of extra room. I like to do 3-4 rows of alternating half hitches on the lower and 2 rows on the upper. Some people make them equal. Some people only tie in a lower.... some don't even tie in a nock point and just use the d-loop... which is not ideal in my own opinion. I want an upper and lower nock point. More consistent and helps with nock pinch. Hope this helps a bit. There is no gold standard. If you went and measured all the top pros bows, you would see variance, most likely from dead center, to nock high.... Tuning is the crucial part.

Unless I missed it, do you not have to check cam sync on these new bowtechs? Asking as I am still shooting an old school 82nd Airborne and on those old binary cams getting the cams synced by adding/removing cable twists is super important. Having said that, those older binary cam bowtechs, all you have to work with for tune is cam sync, moving the rest or nock height. We'll I guess tiller also, if you want to go there.

I am interested in having a bow built exactly like this one you just did but with a 30” draw and Optifade Elevated II camo. Would Josh build and ship to Michigan?

Tim do you find the cables factory on the bowtechs have issues like a lot of other people say, with very little use? Or are you able to get couple seasons out of them without cables and serving issues
