Why did you chose the Hitachi over other brands for the battery powered nail guns?

The clutter that piles up from left over pieces is not worth the cost savings.

Ron I have an opportunity to buy a Kapex 120 EB that is in really good shape. In your opinion is it worth it to hold out and purchase the updated model Kapex 120 REB…? Thank you in advance.

I have the 120 EB and don't know what the REB offers. I need to look into it. If the EB is in good shape and the price is right, you will be satisfied with it.

Thank you Ron! Yes i think @ $850 the price is right. I am on episode #33 of your video playlist now. I have almost all of your plans and excited to get started… I am going to adapt your system to my one car garage shop first, then the trailer for our Boy Scout Troop and last my shed. I am going to try to document my before and after. I’ll send the videos to you when I’m done if you are interested. I wish I had found your setup years ago.. Thanks again! @@TheSmartWoodshop

I look forward to your videos. If you can film 4K horizontally and extra footage. Even walking around and talking about each part. I can cut the audio and use them for transitions in the main video. @@ecmo2007

Thanks so much for all of your videos Ron, especially putting your organization principles into practice. My one concern is that I may have watched too much of you because I find myself narrating and commenting in my Ron voice on my efforts to organize my shop! Should I be worried?

The lithium ion batteries nowadays are more than powerful enough for most situations especially the flexvolt and higher voltage batteries from makers. Cordless is the future. However corded tools still have their place for heavy work that you might not want to put a cordless through. I.e. Worm drives and corded sawzalls for demo,

Yes, batteries have arrived. I have even switched to battery Sawalls since the 28 volt Milwaukee. I am not interested in battery stationary equipment like Mitersaws and Tablesaws.

I can see how having the chargers mounted in the trailer would be convenient in the summer. Do you have temperature related issues in winter if the trailer is not in a heated garage?

What a great workshop! Great inspiration of those (like myself) to keep everything organized. As much as I like to copy similar, I have to stick to a midsize van. That is proving to be a challenge of getting everything in there organized yet everything in reach without going through stuff. Many examples you gave will be implemented but on a smaller scale. As much as I like cordless, I just cannot get myself to purchase the Festool track saw, I feel that batteries aren’t there yet as far as quality. An example is the Fein Supercuts batteries, within 6 months both failed, I got 2 replacements at no charge from Fein but now after a year one already failed and purchased a new one $150 each !!!! What happened? Made in China .....

Not so with Festool. The batteries are time-tested and work. I have never had a Festool battery fail or even slow down. My Milwaukee batteries have also been going for a very long time and I have yet to replace one. I do have two Bosch batteries that are not holding a good charge anymore, but I have had them in use for over 10 years. My production with the cordless track saw is well worth any battery issues if they come up in the future. Festool is made in Germany and a few tools in other parts of Europe not China, but "Made in China" hasn't been a bad thing for a very long time. Many of the best products are now made in China. They have a very skilled workforce and the most modern manufacturing facilities on earth. A lot of cheap knockoff stuff comes from China, but we all know when we are trying to save money and buy the cheap stuff, it is cheap for a reason.😎🤙

Ron Paulk: thanks for that reply, I do own a lot of Festool tools and love all of them and I do recognize that if a product is made in Germany it comes with the price and quality you’d expect... Fein is German too and the Supercut oscillating saw ( Festool Vecturo ) is not made by Festool but Fein, with the label and colors that looks made by Festool.... Anyway, I have had issues with Batteries with Fein, and Hilti cordless drills that makes me wary about getting cordless drills “Made in Germany” that do fail. I’m just saying that Battery technology isn’t there yet even tough high-end companies produce them ( look at the Apple debacle with their battery issues with customers) Tool very likely close to perfection batteries not yet I’m afraid but if companies would stand behind their batteries for a longer period then that would make me feel more comfortable purchasing at once, especially through your Amazon store 😉 Thank you for your great videos and reviews (fellow contractor and binge watcher) J

You talked about Battery Powered Festools. Your track saw is that corded or battery? If batter powered which model? I just ordered the corded one via your link to amazon but now I am thinking I'll return it for the battery powered one depending on your review.

Hi Matt, no question I prefer the battery saw. I haven't used my corded TS55 since I picked up the battery saw. I may even put my corded saw on CL. I have the Festool TSC 55REB Li XL 561718 Cordless Circular Saw. You can also find it in my Amazon Store. www.paulkhomes.com/ron-s-store.html

Perfect - already processing the return and going cordless.

Something you should talk about in one of your video. Though it might not be good for you. Amazon like big box stores doesn't always have the best price. For example the cordless saw in the link says Bare-Tool. Which to me means its without batteries, charger, track and etc. However its listed for 695.00. Festool is one of those companies that controls there prices. I called up Eastside saw and the bare-tool is $495.00. My point is Big box or places like Amazon are not always the best price and if you can get it for the same or better at a local store - I say support the local.
@TheSmartWoodshop
@TheSmartWoodshop 6 лет назад
The price is the same everywhere as Festool controls the pricing. You should read more carefully before making an incorrect statement like this one. Bare tool in this case means "No Track." If you look at the link it says, " Please note the TSC XL Package does not include a Festool Guide Rail, for optimum performance the TSC should be used with a Festool Guide Rail. The TSC XL Package includes TSC 55, 48 tooth blade, 2X 18 volt 5.2 Ah Batteries, 2X TCL 3 Charger, Dust Bag, Splinter guard, SYS 5."

Yes I should be more careful. But my point still stands. Don't just assume the best prices are on Amazon. To address the Festool Price Control. Though it might be true they control it. I purchase from Amazon item#491498 for $128.97. The list price is $136.00 in the Festool catalog. So in this case it was a better price on Amazon. Could be how I purchased it that caused the lower price - I have a business account with Amazon so the prices are a little better then others. There are many variables these days in how products are sold, packaged and etc. So to your point I should be more careful before I just make an incorrect statement.

Dam Ron,... at 3 minutes your fishing around for a clear spot on the bench to assemble that small shelf. Like almost all jobs, as you get closer to the end, a full court press leaves the clean and straightening up for the very end. Turns out your like the rest of us after all! Great work Ron, and thanks for all your very time consuming video work. Its appreciated.

Haha! That was when I had everything out and was building art. Notice that my main workbench was clear. I was using the old, big bench to organize for the trailer.
