I was 44 when I made my first trip to Thailand. I was in Mai Ai at a King Foundation School working with Orphans. I’m 62 now and I am so ready to retire to Thailand once my role as health care agent for two family members comes to an end. Until then, I will just visit for a couple of weeks at a time to wet my appetite with the wonderful Thai culture.

Another nice look into rural life in Thailand. Ryan, you seem old beyond your years. It took me 60 years to settle down and give up smoking and realise life is short. At your age you still have many surprises ahead of you. Entropy cannot be fought so life is a seesaw. Just enjoy the ride 😀

May I suggest that went you have a strong windstorm check the roof? If it becomes loose take the screw out and dip it into a clear silicone with adhesive if possible. Once you do this once shouldn't come loose again except for the corner of the house or outside edge. It should last the whole windy season before they need the tightening again. Rubber gaskets are better than metal washers. I installed my metal roof in Montana back in 1997. The valley gets over 47 km over the winter months. I see a possibility of a fire danger with the dry bamboo underneath the metal roof. It should be removed before it gets above 37 C.

The most fascinating part about an Earthship is the fact that you can eliminate all outside utilities. So, not only is the home constructed from earth-friendly materials, but it also uses natural resources to meet all utility needs. For the environmentally conscious person, this may seem like the smartest way to go. That's why I love your ideas as it's the same as mine too...

In the USA, Turkey fly up into the trees to roost for the night. Then, every morning they fly down into the fields and woods to forage and spend the day. If you are hunting Turkey, you have to get up before dawn, move quietly to a hidden position, sometimes at the edge of a glade or field to watch for when they come down. Then you use your Turkey call to entice one close to you. That's the process anyway. I've never gotten one. Not been a "hunter" most of my life, even young. But, I did call one in and it was very cool. A "Tom" Turkey looking for the "girl" calling him over, tail fanned out, wings puffed up, strutting through the trees looking for the girl turkey.

Always enjoy the Friday evening episodes guys. Dammit Ryan, you are purposefully annoying Damo by filming her! My Buddha man, let her cook and admit she is right 100% of the time! 555 "This is Vlog Gold these shots" 555. Damo got the vlog gold with the turkeys in the tree and Hugo with Yaai. Great idea letting the builders get some things themselves and charge to your account..saves time. Like that you buy hardware locally, less overhead may be why it is cheaper, also the wood pieces from family friends, then have it crafted for your needs. Great to see the kids playing as always. Thanks again for another slice of life here on the Life in Rural Thailand channel guys. Peace and Love Y'all PS: I tell you Hugo is a wanderer. My 1/2 Thai son wandered out twice while we slept when he was 4-5 years old! He pulled a chair over to the front door climbed up and slid open the deadbolt we had near the top got out and walked down the road... all good, he is fine 18 years later , I could tell you more, but all parents deal with different situations so no need to give specifics.....I cant watch the build anymore not knowing what the special room is for even though you gave clues, and today a new one "Earth Ship" 555

The only thing stranger than turkey's in a tree was loads of goats in a tree in Morocco. Yes looking back time does seem to slip away. The only certainty is change. You all look well and focused. I think it's possible that the decisions we make in this life deterimine our next lives. My oldest memories before 3 - 5 seem to be pre birth memories so im pretty sure reincarnation is a thing. It could be interpreted in other ways like Matrix or program but i like to think the universe has created us to experience different things. I remember when my eldest son was little i built him some monkey bars attached to his little play house. He is so strong now doing pull ups on all the door frames and the outdoor pull up bar. Start them young, keep everything light & fun ❤

Yes, wild turkeys sleep in trees at night in a natural behavior called roosting. Turkeys roost in trees to avoid predators like coyotes and foxes that are active after dark, and because they don't see well in the dark. They typically choose tall trees with branches they can use to hop up into the canopy, and open areas around the tree for landing and looking out for predators. Gulo in Nature Roosting Turkeys - Roosting is a natural behavior in wild turkeys where they fly up into trees for... Turkeys can stay in trees for several days, even losing a lot of body fat in the process, and still survive. Even turkey poults, or babies, can fly up into trees to roost with their mothers. If you don't want turkeys roosting in your trees, you can try pruning your trees and bushes to make them less appealing or installing fencing or metal poultry wire around them.

I've heard that the steel thickness from "Global" is different from the local shops (Chinese products). Now how much would that matter (if it's true) in a country that don't have hurricanes or earthquakes like Thailand because I'm not a structural engineer... but... I for one would look for quality because houses here don't last more than 15-20 years when build locally.

Loving your videos. 😇❤️👍. Your time is up??, yes that's life. But you have started young and with a little luck you will be grandparents and can relive some of the feelings that we hold dear to us. Just ask your parents in law, especially the women. To feel this love is fantastic. When my boys were born I had 6 years off work just to be there and I recommend this to everyone. Have heard you say that the power supply goes off a few times. I have an idea that may help. Looking on internet you can find how to get water out of a dam for free with the pumps that they have nowadays. Just plastic pipe and a valve. This would allow you to pump water free, (the water would just run back into the dam so you don't lose it) then you set up a small hydro electric system that is just enough to charge a battery or two. This can run indefinitely and you don't need the sun (which is not available all the time). I'm sure there would be people there who have seen or are using this water pump. Good luck from Australia. 👍❤️😇

Our cottage has windows on every wall, though I prefer little natural light and privacy as this bedroom is usually used at night. As mentioned in previous vlogs this is custom built to my lifestyle, not everyone cup of tea. 👍
