It's time to start growing the population a little more! Mod & Asset List: steamcommunity... ➤ Visit my website for my Twitter, Twitch, other channels, specs and more! My Website: jamesturner.yt
I picked this game back up this weekend and my city population blew up really fast, I honestly don't know how James is making this so relaxed! I was STRESSED at how fast everything was happening!
If you are able to use mods there is one called "realalistic population" it will make it so house have, I think, 1-5 people rather than multiple households in one house!
I am librarian and a piece of my soul left my body when you passed on building the library. Hopefully you can build it in the next part, but I am loving the series so far otherwise! 😋
That super long beach would make for a nice leisure district next to the city center. Also perhaps a national park around that fortification and around the castle on the hill over the suburbs.
There is a mod called "undo it" and "pick it" that you should consider downloading, undo basically lets to ctrl+z and undo most things you do and pick it like you pick objects that you have a place for example instead of searching for roads you can just use the tool to pick it and it will find it and let you use it works like sims eyedropper. another thing that bridge you liked maybe you could use the stretch thing you used on it to make it bigger.
But he said that the width doesn't increase the capacity, so there will still be just two lanes each way which isn't enough for a main road, and will be annoying for traffic..!
I love that you're so focused on pedestrian connectivity! ❤ Maybe you could lay a path on the beach and cover it with surface painter, to get some more activity?
Geothermal Power plants are mostly built where there is a short distance ton the mantle for heat! Usually they are located in volcanic areas, Like here in Iceland we almost only have geothermal!
@@TeruteruBozusama Yeah but the Volcanoes are not really a big deal, if you live in the city. Really only the farmers on the bottom of the maintains are in danger.
Absolutely thrilled that you're back playing cities! Been watching since gta with zeus dylan + genie or rollercoaster tycoon series (can't remember lol) and its great to see you back. Love the mellow vibe, these videos are always a highlight in my sub tab :D
Yea me too i love his cities skyline series i was checking like 2 weeks ago if he uploaded something new and now we got this brand new series i hope he keeps it up for long now
I really enjoy how slow paced and chill this series is so far. Im the type of person who likes to watch all the nitty gritty “boring” stuff like detailing and lane management, so seeing a little bit more of that in this series is nice :)
Loved it. Definitely wasn't too long, I would of been happy if it went longer personally. Hopefully you'll be able to get back on twitch soon, all the off camera stuff you do would be fun to watch live. Hope you have a good day.
In Sweden its very common to have geothermal heating in apartment buildings, its placed like right under "The rock source heat pump draws heat from bedrock and groundwater by means of a circulating liquid in a hose in a borehole."
I know you're trying to hit the population milestones, but I'd love more cul-de-sac and dead end alleys with more open space in between. So glad you're back :)
For the midrise buildings, I find its best to make a building style to apply to a district since the highrise ban isnt exactly a highrise ban, its just a ban on top level buildings.
Theres a learning curve especially with traffic and trash management as your city grows but overall its not nearly as bad as it looks. You should give it a try, you may really love it!
you can use the bridges at ground level too and it will use the pavement texture from the bridge, something to consider if you want a different looking main street or coblle pavement in an older area
Mr. Turner, a other youtuber named YUMBLtv has same great how to videos about Node Controller and Intersection Marking tool. I've learned a lot of his videos like I learned Sims from you. Anyways.. thx for the awesome videos
Glad to see you having fun with this. I love the wide path you made and the school drop off looked great. I'd suggest to add some landscaping around the new school.
29:10 Following direct curves of roads with pipes is a waste anyway, better to make 1 general connection in the direction of the roads. There is a cap on how many nodes and segments a map can have. 1:01:30 Reconnect the big and small road, you can make the transition you want easily. In Node Editor, when you were messing around with the width and stuff, actually click and drag the colored dot at the center of the segment on the road. Just drag it to the side.
With the whole problem of turning off collision, I usually just turn collision back on afterwards and move a few roads and then undo the move, in the area, to update all the props sticking through to delete themselves
I have horrific insomnia and I always use these videos to focus my mind on something pleasant and good and calming in order to ease myself into sleep 💛💛💛 I did that with the older Skylines of James’ as well. Truly does wonders for me more than any sleep sounds because this helps me when my brain won’t let me close my eyes but this never ramps up my anxiety 💛💛💛
For the pedestrian bridges, if we use them, can you split the difference a bit and dip the road down so our citizens don’t have to climb as high to cross the street
21:58 While I love what mods allow for in this game, I also hope in a sequel one day, these tools are either in the game, or the game is made in a way that you won't have cascading fails like this. Like, hopefully Colossal realizes that there's a big chunk of their longtime players that do micro-detailing and that'll change how the sequel moves ahead. Love your work as always James!
When you’re ready to do the trains, it would be cool to put the train connection into the city through the mountain maybe? That way it’s underground and doesn’t take up too much space, especially since the area has the mountains.
I just bought cities skylines a few days ago and it's so much fun. I'm also trying to take it slow and be very methodic in my placements even though it doesn't make that much of a difference in game just so my sims can walk and take public transport everywhere
All these trees remind me of Savannah, Ga in the USA. There are thick tree coverings over all the main streets. It has this really claustrophobic but yet vibrant environment
I don't remember which city of yours it was that had a ton of elevated pedestrian walkways and all, it looked so good! I'm low key hoping you'll get into that sort of thing again. Watching pedestrians walk around is so nice.
I quite liked the road markings you did into the industrial. Without the line I think it looked realistic I thought. Enjoying the little details, it was my favourite part of your other series (like the levels in dirtroit)
You should get a mod that 2 dollars twenty uses called 'Plop the growables' (I think) that lets you place buildings manually. It'll be beneficial as it will help so you don't have awkward spaces left due to zoning, or having to use trees to hide your crimes. This is a great series so far, it's looking really nice!
For the connection at 7:27, you can use node controller to set the slope manually to have it nice and appealing. Just enter node controller, click on that bridge node and set slop to manual.
I do this on console, placing fences between lots, so easy if you place it freely. Remember no mods on PS5, I have a few videos on youtube no commentary I just upload CS videos for fun. I usually place the fencing before placing the lot so much easier, lol.
Cracks me up that you take 20m for a beautiful elementary drop off…then slam the high school anywhere on a highway like “sorry school but I want to build hea.” 🤣 love the priorities FTK
If you have ever lived near basketball or tennis courts you would appreciate the trees as they cut down somewhat on the noise. Rather than having that bridge over the water, you might be better to go underground so ferries, ships could pas through easier.
It's been a while since I've watched this series as it hasn't been updated in a long time, so I'm rewatching it from the beginning and I forgot how much I love this series! Wonder if James ever continues uploading, I really hope so, but for now there's enough episodes to last me quite a while😅
Idea for the campus... make the campus in the new area on the cove place and call the campus "Campus Cove" or "Cove University"... also would love to see a trade school
Haha when you built the bridge and it went all flat and funky you can use node controller to make the node flat so the change between two road types is smoother if that makes sense!
Don't use collision off to avoid trees being removed just leave tree anarchy on always and always put in the trees last, use no collision only for putting paths into roads without destroying other networks like paths roads and fences and walls. Before building an area also helps to just remove all trees beforehand.
Heypersonally I appreciate your struggles with some of these mods. IMT and NC I haven'tbegun to use yet, but this way is more helpful in learning to use them than watching another builder blow through them fast. :-)
