Three things about jug fishing.....and I have jug fished for many, many years. 1) Always - Always use a circle hook. 2) Do not fish to close to the bottom like he is saying, A fish needs room to pull the bait down to set the hook. If you fish to close to the bottom your jugs become ineffective as the fish cannot set the hook on itself, and/or they may swallow the bait, then you cannot let the smaller fish go. 3) The more buoyant the float is, the stronger the hook set will be on the fish.

Let's say you're fishing a river that averages 20 feet deep in the channel, what depth do you like to set your juglines, I don't have a lot of experience with jugs, but I was always under the impression you run pretty shallow?

Made a dozen of these and they are great. They were easy to make and the ease of adjusting them helps alot as I run them from a kayak. Best tip is snelling the circle hook. Once the fish is on, it's not getting off.

Dude I’ve been following you for several years. Helped me out a lot with trapping. I’ve told myself I was gonna make these jugs for 3 years now. Finally looked this up again and gonna follow thru. Also, I loved the part when ya said “once you cl get good at tying this knot, you can leave a very minimal tag line…IF YOURE INTO THAT SORTA THING”

For some video ideas maybe try doing one on how to go about selling your furs after season and what your thoughts on the fur market are and what you think the future markets will look like. Maybe mention what species are best to try to focus on if you are wanting to make the most money doing it. Another is if you do any food plotting for deer or turkeys maybe do a vid on that.

Those jugs work great and we have been making our own designs from swim noodles for decades. We have made some changes over the years and found a cheaper solution that requires no PVC and no glue. You can buy a dozen children's wire coat hangers from Wal-Mart for around $3. We cut them on both sides of the hook twist and straighten the wire. Run the straight wire through the swim noodle and then loop and twist them into circles on each side of a giant or regular noodle. Attach your line (we use 70lb braid) directly to the loop of the coat hanger and add 30-40 yards of line per. Wrap the line around the noodle tight and stab the noodle with the hook, ready to go. I bought several of the mega noodles in 2007, and you could get them at Wal-Mart for about 1.39 a piece (now a 55 inch super noodle is $10.50), with a $.41 cent hanger and our total cost back then was around $1.05 per noodle. we use a 8 foot aluminum dock pole with a hook on the end and can grab the top loop to pull in the boat with or without a fish on. Still using them now after 13 years with no issues and none have even been damaged. Great videos, keep em coming, love seeing ideas put to work!

Where I Catfish we catch very large catfish so we use heavy weight on one end to keep them from dragging the noodle off into the woods or middle of the lake. My question is how do you do that without attaching a heavy weight on one end? What I do is take a disposable plastic cup fill with quickcrete which an 80 bag is just a few bucks. Put a shower curtain hook in it to tie to then you have a very secure weight which is hard for large catfish to drag off your noodle.
