I have watched a lot of jugline videos, and this is by far the best. As mentioned by someone else, I appreciated the family friendly language. Headed to the dollar store now to look for noodles. Will follow this video exactly...except for the addition of some fluorescent tape or paint. Thanks for sharing.

I got to try and build us some, we are still the old coffee can jugs. Daddy has had the using for years. He would weld two coffee cans together and a nail or staple to tie your line to. Painted them black . And we use thin bank line. Yours look better and a lot easier. Thank you!

Howdy from Texas. I just watched your video last night and now I have 10 built awaiting the line, sinkers, hooks and swivels. I completed one and tried it out at the lake. It worked exactly as you said. I didn't catch any fish (probably due to the weather) but I don't see any reason why it won't. Looking forward to hauling a bunch in when the fishing gets better. What bait do you usally have the best luck with? I used some shad fishing them about 6 feet deep in about 9 feet of water. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and sharing it. It is videos like this that make life much easier.

Just finished making my first dozen floats as a gift for my big brother. I also took several pieces of about a 6 inch piece of foam, wrote the line length on it, then wrapped the line, weight, hook, and swivel onto the piece of foam. This way he can swap out line lengths as the water depth dictates. Also, cut 5 (3 inch) pieces of different colored foam and glued them together using waterproof Gorilla Glue to make one piece of 15 inch foam. Gives the float a unique color combination. Reply

@AussieMusicRocks
@AussieMusicRocks 8 лет назад
In fresh water we mainly fish for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Bass, several species of Perch, River Blackfish. Freshwater Barramundi, Murray Cod. They are the main targeted species. The Trout are an introduced species and are plentiful in most rivers, streams and lakes. The rest are Native to Australia and most people catch and release them. The biggest Murray Cod on record is just a bee's dick under 6 feet long and weighed 249 pounds.

I put yellow reflective tape on the top cap, so that I can see it at night. My experience with the rebar inside the noodle was that I was not catching as many cats because of the noise. When I took the rebar out, I started catching more cats. I also mark the length on each noodle, because I put a three hole brick on the bottom of the line. That allows me to fish the thermoclines indicated to me by the depth of the cats are on the fish finder. Add a couple of extra bonus feet to each line to prevent your float from sinking, if you miscalculate your depth.

I've been using these kinds of "jugs" here in Texas for around ten years now and they're an extremely fun and productive method of filling up the freezer with catfish! I have a few suggestions and notes if you don't mind: I found that the free floating jug line is a pain in the butt. I use 3" PVC filled with concrete as a cheap weight to keep my jugs from blowing all over the lake. Also, I use 250 lb. tarred nylon as my main line, about 20' long. I tie loops in this line and make removable stagings for my hooks. I make these out of a smaller, different color tarred line with swivels and trot line clips. The different color makes it easier to tell the difference between the staging and the main line when you get tangles. The swivel helps to prevent tangles (catfish like to spin) and the trot line clip makes the stagings removable. Using removable stagings allows you to pre-bait hooks and significantly speeds up deployment and re-baiting of your jugs. Also, when you have a fish on a jug you can remove the staging with the fish and go straight to the box, replace the staging with a freshly baited one and go on down the line. Some states require that your jugs be white. I've found that wrapping the noodle with white duct tape is the easiest fix for this as I have yet to find white pool noodles. Lastly, I've found that 7/O hooks are the perfect size. I've caught some tiny channel cats on a 7/O circle, and they will more easily handle the 50 lb. class blues and oppalusas. I used to use 5/O and I had too many broken and twisted hooks. Thanks for your video! You are spot on about the circle hooks and I like the way you use the rod stock to turn the jug into a "flagging" jug! I think I'm going to modify mine. Fish on!

Great video!! I made a handful of jugs following your design. Everything worked great, until I got them in the water. I once set, I noticed the steel bar inside would no longer side up/down. I’m thinking I did not use the right sealant, or give it enough time to dry. I took one apart and could feel the sealant inside causing resistance. Any suggestions on what type of sealant I should use on the next round?

@austinartist0608
@austinartist0608 Год назад
The smart thing to do once you put the nut on the inside of the cap over the washer? Once you have that nut all the way down and tightened you should strip the threads on the eye bolt with a pair of needle nose or something so it doesn't come back loose because if that nut ever comes off you're going to lose your fish. I guess that excess silicone will help glue it into place also.

Jug lines are jug lines lol. Don't matter if it's a milk jug or a pool noodle. What's used don't change it's application. And pool noodles often provide a more user friendly method of deployment. So he can build a bridge and get over it lol. And yes this will have a lot of requests especially from more serious fishers that fish to stock the freezer. 20 of these plus a few rods can be a real game changer. These basicly do what a bank line will but these can be deployed in the middle of the lake or Creek.

Kentucky law for anyone wondering. SPORT FISHING TROTLINES, JUGGING and SET LINES (LIMB LINES) (301 KAR 1:410; KRS 150.010) A sport fishing trotline is a line with no more than 50 single or multi-barbed baited hooks that must be at least 18 inches apart. A sport fishing trotline must be set at least three feet below the water’s surface. Jugging is fishing with a single baited line attached to any floating object. A jug line may have no more than one single or multi-barbed hook. A set line is a line with one single or multi-barbed hook. It may be attached to a tree limb, tree trunk, bank pole or other stationary object on the bank of a stream or impoundment. One person may use no more than two sport fishing trotlines or 50 jug lines or 25 set lines at any one time. Each boat may not use more than 50 jug lines, but each occupant may use two sportfishing trotlines or 25 set lines. Each sport fishing trotline, jug line or set line must be: 1) permanently labeled with the name and address of the user; 2) baited, checked and all fish removed at least once every 24 hours; 3) removed from water, bank or tree when fishing ceases. Prohibited Areas: Sport fishing trotlines, jug lines or set lines may not be used within 200 yards below any dam. Sport fishing trotlines, jug lines or set lines are not allowed in Department owned/managed lakes having less than 500 surface acres, except those located on Ballard and Boatwright WMAs. No sport fishing trotlines are allowed within 700 yards below Kentucky Dam, the area between Barkley Dam and U.S. 62 bridge, or below the following Ohio River dams from the face of the dam to the end of the outer lock wall: Smithland, Newburgh, Cannelton, Markland, Meldahl and Greenup; McAlpine downstream to the K&I railroad bridge; J.T. Meyers (Uniontown) to the end of the outer lock wall and that portion of the split channel around the southern part of Wabash Island from the fixed weir dam to the first dike.

+junebug I have a big metal cutoff saw that I use but a hacksaw or a grinder with a cutoff disk will do it too.
