I have been carrying mine for over 20 years. No complaints. Got in the 90s when a bunch flooded the US market, well over 2,000 rounds through it with no malfunctions. Change the grip to FAB Defense PM-G grips and it completely changes the character of pistol.
That's an amazing precision tool.... I think it's a beautiful gun...simple and reliable if used correctly and properly maintained... I cannot find these in California since they are illegal according to the Justice Department's list of prohibited firearms from the General public to ever own...
@Ivan Hernandez Makarov pistols were once available in California. I got mine Russian “Baikal” during the 90’s. For some reason the market dried up even before they implement the handgun roster. I think the only way to get one in California is through the used gun third party transfer. That is if anybody is willing to sell.
@@captanxaliye1811 I believe I bought it for $125. It came with two mags and cleaning rod that all fit in a nice leather holster. The gun store had twenty five of them, I wish I would have bought two of them.
I've carried one of these for years change the grips and its hands down one of the most dependable and accurate guns around. I've probably shot in excess of over 3,000 rounds and never had a jam. Love this weapon
....I bought 2 and ordered a 3rd...the are in super condition...go to classicfirearms.com and read all the reviews...read mine...almost all outstanding feedback by everyone...the ones from Classic are in super condition....love them....
This guy is the Bob Ross of the gun world. A guy who loves what he’s doing, isn’t arrogant or obnoxious, just sharing something he loves with you to make your life a little better. Fantastic video
Got mine from the same batch, back in 2016 or 2017 and it’s been absolutely wonderful. Nabbed one of those Russian mag-release grips for it too (not the FAB) and some Hornady CritDef and it’s an excellent hot-weather carry.
Quite an accurate gun. Its such a smooth operator. Gota hand it to the soviet block countries their firearms are super hearty utilitarian and this one in particular is user friendly.
Your problem is that the grip screw is a bit too tight or too long. It is a common issue. Remove the mag and clear the weapo. stick your finger in the mag well and feel for the grip screw protruding in the mag well. If it does then file the screw down until it does not protrude into the mag well and then file a small bit more. I hope this helps. Stay safe.
I love mine...from Classic Firearms as well. I had a local holster maker provide me with an OWB holster and spare mag holder and I sometimes carry mine. It’s now had about 300 rounds, mix of factory FMJ, JHP and some old surplus...no malfunctions of any sort. The trigger is much better now...and it’s a tack driver...very accurate off-hand. Nice video...here is a peek at mine. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X5H37e0fSBg.html
@@UnknownReloader Is it a 9mm?Also it seems solar to Walther ppk,in looks and weight also balance.Obviously ppk 7.65 ammo and Makarov is 9mm so bit more stopping power.Which do you prefer?I love ppk for size , power,.balance etc,bit dated design systems and low round capacity but 7/8,shots should be enough for any one. Please let me know which you like best and why.Cheers.
I bought my 1st Surplus Makarov Pistol from Sportsmansguide and my 2nd Makarov I got it from Southern Ohio Gun. I paid a little extra for the best condition both my Makarovs are Bulgarian made.
Still CC my Makarov probably more often than my Sig P238 or P220. If you have one, try the Mesko ammo from Poland. Some of the best shooting 9x18mm I've ever had. The Maki seems to be inherently accurate just by design, but paired with good ammo it becomes even more so. I can keep all 8 shots in about a 5 inch circle at 25 yds, way beyond any normal self defense range. Plus it's fairly light and compact, and I like to carry one in the chamber, hammer down, no safety. First shot DA, the rest in SA. What more do you want from your CC?
Makarov pistols are very nice. When you do get your new to you milsurp pistol one of the first things to do is replace the recoil spring and the mag springs, Wolf has both. You did mention not being able to find ammo but your name is UnKnownReloader. Just load some up. Starline makes brass in 9x18 and you can also trim down 9mm after running them through a 9x18 die. Just make sure the 9mm has been fired but not sized in a 9mm die. Works in a pinch. Hornady makes bullets and you can also get bullets from berrys......
this one looks much more accurate and comfortable, my dad was shooting with the original makarov and said it was really heavy and uncomfortable and that he couldn't hit a single target. We bulgarians know how to perfect a weapon eventrough we are a small country.
youngmauro12 no I didn't have a Sig brace to shoulder last year and I always make sure to not show constructive intent. When I have a lower (stripped or built) I put a sticky note on it that says: "for legal construction of AR15 only"
GREETINGS from BULGARIAN ARMY and LAS VEGAS Bulgarian " ARSENAL,s " Military factory ! Btw. " Makarov " is the German WEHRMACHT,s " Walter " PP 7.65.....mm !
nope, it's called spauling. Upon impact the bullet flattens and fragments. Some fragments are just bigger than others. The closest thing I had to a ricochet was once when a large fragment came back with enough force to gently land on my shirt and fall in my pocket.
Все жалуют калибр больше 9х19 и не думают о том, что защищаться они будут против Человека, а не Быка или Медведя, поэтому для самозащиты и Макарова будет достаточно!
I've been told that the Soviets preferred to have a live suspect to Interagate rather then a dead one to bury! Thus the "lighter" less potent pistol for Police.
well this kinda true and even today you can see it in post soviet country's (if we speaking about robbers/hijacker etc) but if we speaking about terrorists and some criminals with high danger level then TACTICAL NUKE INCOMING
