@@chchwoman9960 if its hard to demonstrate by a professional then its hard to do by an amateur at home. Thats like saying a leg operation is hard to demonstrate on someone with a leg.
I had my bunions worked on by a chiropractor and it put me in sheer agony. Nothing gave me relief. I just got a bunionectomy for my right foot. But I’ll be sure to do stretches for my feet when I recover. I’ll never neglect my feet again
Thanks so much for sharing these videos! It's awful what we get told at the doctor's office. It seems that everyone wants to sell surgeries first and foremost. I'm on my second pair of CT and my feet are much more relaxed than they used to be. My toes are slowly spreading on their own again. I've been wearing 'bad' shoes with tapered toe box, toe spring and heels for so long because I just didn't know any better. It's hard to find anything else. Thank you doc for providing this service to us!
I love the concept of reversal of the bunion, what can be done about a hammertoe? Your videos give hope to many people ,no doubt. Thank you for sharing ,can I obtain the toe spacers in South Africa?
Hi Ingrid, I was wondering the same thing about hammertoe. I can manually straighten mine without pain but would love to know what I could do to get it to stay in it's original position. Have you had any success? Thanks,
Great information- It's nice to see a professional who is willing to share selfishly because he cares about seeing others take responsibility for their health. If I'm ever in Dr. McClanahan's area, I will make an appt.; however, in the meantime, I must do for myself b/c I live in rural Texas where intelligence/education and active lifestyle do not coexist.
I'd like to do this on my own foot and I'm trying to figure out how the pressure would work. Is the goal to press on the top and bottom of the foot at the same time, or are you primarily working the top or the bottom when you talk about the pressure point and tissues you are trying to release?
The guy in the video has invented something called "correct toes". You should check them out. There is also lots of information on this RU-vid account's website, or correcttoes.com
poor college kid on a budget is the deep heat cream absolutely necessary? I have a smaller bunion I belive on the side area few centimenters before nail line. Is this bunion coreeectable?
I'm 24 and I've been dealing with bunions for many years (6), don't know what happened, extremely advance State where I don't have stability on walking and standing.physical/mental pain. Working as a farmer is gets complicated. I'm waiting to have have surgery later this year.. bunions do change quality of Life

Thanks so much for posting. Does the same technique work for bunionettes as well? Also, do you recommend going barefoot/minimalist footwear? It seems like a good idea for strength and flexibility in the foot, but I know the traditional treatment for bunions is use of orthotic inserts.
Yes, just stretch the little toe outwards instead of the big toe. When I walk barefoot on carpet there is no pain almost. But in shoes on concrete there are sharp pains. I will try spacers too.
Late reply. Exercise is essential to keep the muscles of your feet strong. With just fascial release of your foot muscles there is greater chance the bunion will come back. Exercise and techniques such as these should be practiced in tandem. For synergistic effect.
Yes!. But you need to switch to wide toe box shoes (barefoot/minimalist) and wear CorrectToes imo. You should try on new shoes with the CorrectToes on to make sure they're wide enough. Even better if you can get some toe socks or anatomical socks like Plus12. My bunion was about a 20 degree angle in. Barefoot shoes stopped the pain entirely. I still have a way to go until the big toe is straight, but now after only three months of CorrectToes and stretches, the angle is more like 15 degrees and it's not pushing on my second toe. My other foot which had a very slight beginnings of a bunion now has none. The big toe and second toe have a decent gap between them when standing, and I can splay my toes so that there's half a centimetre between all the toes.
@@tineh9724 I have some Wildlings, men's Vivobarefoot, Peerko, Jenon Leather and Joe Nimble. No I don't wear them at night; the circulation in my feet is much better now so I get too hot sleeping in socks, and CorrectToes are designed to be worn while weight bearing.
Sorry to hear that you're only just now learning about it! Wish we could have been there to help earlier. Good luck with your left foot. Please reach out if you need any help.
I have to buy the correct toe* this summer, but for now I am wearing a splint, is it OK to put the right splint on my right foot,? ( my right foot does not have a bunion, my left foot does)
Hi Catherine, we don't have too much experience with other products, so we wouldn't be able to help unfortunately. But if you end up having questions about the Correct Toes give us a call at 503-243-2699. We'd love to help!
thanks,Doc. but, if I do this to myself, i think i will cross my leg so the foot i'm working on will be closer to me...can i use that position, instead of the one on your video? thanks. I'm a long distance runner myself, and a Physical Therapist with a bad bunion on my right foot.LOL. i can't have it operated on yet coz I do homehealth visits, and I need to drive :-)
In another video you mention it is not hereditary, yet my brother and mother both have bunions, along with myself. I’ve had it since I can remember, definitely since 5 years of age. I had surgery around that time to implant a STA-PEG (subtalar arthrorisis implant), and therefore was under the care of a podiatrist since before that time, who explained that our bunions were inherited (hence why we all had it). Mine does not cause pain and I still have full range of motion and flexibility. I also have extremely flat feet, however was quite active in running without much negative affect.
Maybe hereditary in the way that not walking or standing properly, in as much as improper foot wear, causes the bunions. I know in my case it was being on my feet all day and not having the strength in my legs to stand properly, gave me bunions. Same problem with my mom. So yes, I inherited that weakness and bad posture from my mom. And we both suffer bunions.
There won't be too much growth with the individual toes but the muscles in your foot absolutely grow with exercises just as any other muscle group does.
Hello, We do have one in the Fort Worth area. They are called Active Spine and Sport (activespineandsport.com/). We recommend them as they understand the principles of natural foot health. We hope this helps and it is within reasonable traveling distance. Let us know if you have any questions.
Weight bearing pathomechanics is at the cause of hallux abducto valgus so what the devil would screeching NON-Weight bearing ot to anything versus the fierce of an entire body weight on the joint?
I had a bad Hallux Valgus on both feet, and that at the age of only 28! I was wearing orth. insoles for 5 years and it didn't help. Finally, I decided to have both feet operated..the result is good. I'm happy to have done it!
Yes, I have a very advanced bunion and I use, I think it's called "Fantastic Feet!" and it really helps. I use it just about every day and sometimes go to sleep with it on.
Both toe like this and there is about to kiss the other toe but I never play any sport but i sprained my ankle alot,i dont wear good shoes that's probably why my other toe is kissing other toe but I got these shoes that are Fubu! I don't know is a good shoes but yo video help me thanx you
I am wondering if anyone has advice on how to manage having third toes overlapping on both feet due to bunions pushing toes over quite challenging I have to tape toes together to stop overlapping
@@solomit1 It takes time for your musculature and joints to change position and for that position to hold. Correct Toes work best when weight-bearing and active. This allows your intrinsic foot muscles to engage and strengthen.
Are the toe correctors same has toe separators. I train in martial arts in bare feet have tape my toes together to keep them aligned would you be able to train with toe correctors to keep tied aligned
@@solomit1 Correct Toes are a silicone toe spacer product. Go to www.correcttoes.com to see more. We aim for a wide toe splay, so I'm not sure that taping the toes together is really compatible with Correct Toes.
That person has no bunions! You need to show someone with advanced bunions! I had to finally have surgery on my left bunion because it was so severe due to my fallen arches and resulting severe pronation. I just ordered the Correct toes to hopefully prevent a new bunion from forming. My big toe has already started moving inward...6 months after surgery and despite wearing orthotics most of the time. I really have fallen arches.
We encourage folks to wear barefoot shaped shoes. And use the shoe liner test when shoe shopping, to ensure proper splay and enough room for your foot to be a foot!
I appreciate the anatomy and aesthetic qualities of human body very much. You don't see the doctor's face at all in the video; I appreciated very much what I did see though. Score one for genetics.
Not hereditary? lol Are you against evidence??? My Grandma and Mother have them. They walked barefoot most of their lives living in a 3rd world country.
I have them too.i was born with mine as well.all my sisters mage fun of me when I was really young.like 5 yrs old.now what 5 yr old do you know that had bunions from shoes or whatever?
Youre totally right i had perfect feet and always tried to be careful when picking shoes..... not even like that they fricking showed up.... my mom and granda had them too... so there go...😕
Just wear your most comfortable shoes that you wore with no socks for about 2 days And giveaway get rid of the shoes immediately that made you read this comment , and leave a cash app etc .
It's disheartening to see a health care professional dip their bare fingers into an unguent that one would presume is not just used on this one individual... Why is he not wearing a glove?
