He was a competent chef just being hamstrung by the delusional owners. His behavior towards Daniel was overkill though, and while it wasn't unreasonable to fire him, it was just unfortunate for all parties.

It seems like a straightforward case to win and if the son had been able to go that route right at the opening of the restaurant he would have been saved from so much pain, stress, drama and heartache. It was always in his best interest to walk away from his parents and cut them out of his life; for his own health and well being.
