Shateasha Hicks was seen arguing with that man when he suddenly drove off and that’s when witnesses say Hicks left the restaurant and grabbed a gun out of her car.

Yeah, shooting 5 rounds at someone for throwing mayonnaise at you is a completely justifiable self-defense move. I'd hate to see what would happen if someone went as far as to throw a whole damn burger at her. She'd probably call in an air strike.
@@chefdsal1 I agree that his point is flawed. That's her aunt, what does he expect... auntie to throw her under the bus with a camera in her face? Seemed like a nice lady to me.
If her aunt thinks that it is self-defense to shoot at someone who has thrown mayo and has driven away from you, then the family is probably the source of the problem. There is a difference between self-defense and retaliation.
@@InternalxHD ahh... I don't think she was in fear of losing her life because of mayonnaise! It might be best to rethink your statement! It was retaliation overkill oh and by the way no pun intended.

@@Deadassbruhfrfr He assaulted her first mayonnaiseor not doesn't matter. I dont care dude. You can't convince me otherwise. I don't let customers be rude to or antagonize my employees. Baby girl should have cleaned up, took a break and clocked out. Never let a customer take you to that point. Its never worth losing a job or being in jail.
No, “baby girl” should have put on her big girl panties and politely and appropriately finished her shift. No way should you be offering her a visit to the calm down corner. For God’s sake….she is old enough to have a job, old enough to afford that car, then she is old enough to deal with a little packet of mayo!!
It's not self defense if after the altercation you walk outside. Go in your car. Grab a gun, then start shooting. That's premeditated attempted murder over mayo. She should be charged as such to prevent her from killing someone if she gets shot with a water gun. People need to stop elevating a situation because you feel butt hurt. Your life wasn't endangered, you made bad life decisions to be at Burger King. Here is another bad life decision, get it together.
Two lessons in this, self control and be nice to others. You can't let people get you so angry that you commit a crime, pick and choose your battles wisely. And you have to be careful with how you treat people because you never know how that person will respond or what that person is dealing with internally. Both are wrong and this could have easily ended up in a senseless murder and for what!? Some mayonnaise! Unless your life is threatened there's no reason to use a gun. And there's no need to be disrespectful to people.
A black male threw eggs at my head...... I could have followed him and shot him dead in "self defense" But I have a brain, and common decency Now it ends up he is in prison, and my life is great
Crime is an essential feature of Gods completeness of being. If god were to intervene in anything, it would be less than all knowing, as it can only know through experience. All things that happen are necessary as part of god.
Running out and getting your gun from your car and shooting at someone for throwing mayo on you as they drive off is not self defense. Stupidity but not self defense.

Some people don't understand the great responsibility of carrying a firearm. You can't just shoot at someone because you feel disrespected. Unless you are firing to protect your life or the life of another who is in imminent danger, you shouldn't be shooting. What this customer allegedly did was highly disrespectful. He should've dodged some hands, not bullets!
I have a suspicion that she's not a legal firearm owner. 1)Throwing mayonnaise packets doesn't cause great bodily harm or risk of death. 2) if you need to leave a situation to grab a gun to reengage you're not in fear for your life. 3) shooting at a fleeing vehicle is unjustified and dangerous This woman has no business with a gun. Shes driven by ego and vengeance. This type of behavior is unacceptable. I get it's not nice to be abused on the job. She could have told her boss. Had the man barred from returning to that location and trespassed.
She pursued him, retrieved a firearm from her vehicle, and opened fire all while the customer was driving away. She did it out of rage not self defense. Gonna be really hard to prove self-defense in court. IMO
What’s funny is that they could actually charge the thrower with shooting a missile into a dwelling because they only classify a missile as a propelled object that’s unidentified. Happened to someone I know for throwing rocks at his ex house
Yup. She's definitely going to prison. And she'll become a felon, if she already isn't one. She'll have to give up her weapon. These people just don't think of the consequences. Perpetual victims.
When someone points a gun at someone else and fires it, it *is* attempted murder. Every. Single. Time. None of this "discharging a firearm in public" BS.

Exactly. That man shouldn't have done that to the employee, but the employee also shouldn't have lost her control to freaking shoot him. As much as i cannot stand immature rude costumers, that doesn't mean i have right to freaking shoot them. Yes, rude costumers are annoying, immature, and dumb but geez... to freaking shoot them?? It's so wrong. I feel bad for the employee because she didn't deserved to be mistreated, and it got worse for her once her action has gotten her in huge trouble. As for the costumer, i also hope he recovers, but i also hope that he learned his lesson to never mistreat a employee ever again.
How is she defending herself when he had left the drive-thru? Then she went to her car and grabbed her gun. Over mayonnaise. I think people are finding every excuse just to use their weapon.

If you choose to throw something at someone, don't expect people to throw something of equal value back. Some things being tossed your way hurt a lot more.
Defending herself? She went to her car to get a gun after the incident and shot at a fleeing car. How is that defending yourself? That aunt just put the whole family to shame because it's no longer what's wrong with that woman, it's what's wrong with that family!

.... you can't shoot at someone for throwing mayonnaise at you, but police can shoot you for simply moving towards them, prollem is, the amount of inconsistency that takes place in the meantime...but the fact that she left and got a weapon takes away the self defense anyway...
@Flower7 you cannot attempt to shoot someone because they threw a mayonnaise packet you. If you don’t understand then you will probably end up in prison too. “Self-defense law requires the response to match the level of the threat in question. In other words, a person can only employ as much force as required to remove the threat. If the threat involves deadly force, the person defending themselves can use deadly force to counteract the threat.” We are not using street code here.
I understand that people have breaking points, but if all it takes is someone throwing a condiment on you to jump straight to committing to killing them, you have to reevaluate whose actually the lesser of two evils.
@AstreA Yes I fully agree. From my own experience though: I have a record with domestic back when I had anger issues. After therapy and psychology visits, I found out that I had big amounts of trauma buried deep inside. It took the right triggers for it all to come out. In that state- you feel as if you have nothing left to lose, completely disregarding what you do have. So you get self destructive in order to reinforce your idea of “justice”. It’s a very irrational state of mind, so there’s no way to make sense of it.
You never know what people are going through. That’s why nowadays I do not even look people way. You be surprised who is a ticking time bomb. Treat other people they way you want to be treated. One big issue is how older family don't hold her accountable for her actions. That's systemic. We can't coddle people to this level and not expect such behavior. It is never questioned only dismissed as someone elses fault.
They didn't say the police didn't have a warrant. If the police have a warrant then they can legally search your house and if you refuse to allow that to happen you definitely can be arrested.

Grandmas/ family elders like this are a big reason the generations coming up now are so morally bankrupt! Granny, she could have simply washed the mayo off, taken a few minutes to calm down and simply continue with her freedom…I mean her day. Teach self control and stop being so easily offended.
I don’t believe my family members are in the wrong ever either. But the matter of fact is she was no danger she had no reason to shoot and over mayonnaise has to be one of the stupidest things in the world.
One things for sure, that jerk won't be throwing things at people in public ever again. People are way too comfortable being assholes to strangers who can kill them in a blink of an eye. I get scared if I accidentally bump into someone on the street, because there are some real psychos out there with a chip on their shoulder looking for any opportunity to fight. As for her however, talk about an overreaction. Her life is basically ruined now because of a lack of self control.
Whenever I find myself in a situation where tempers are elevated, I always remind myself of everything that I have to lose and the people that love me.
The "customer's always right" mentally has honestly got to go. So tired of hearing stories of customers being blatantly rude, disrespectful, and getting physical with employees because they feel entitled. I don't approve of the actions she took, using a firearm, but both were in the wrong regardless. So sick of hearing about this stuff. I feel awful for all fast food or restaurant employees because omfg.
That quote is actually a slogan created by Harry G Selfridge, it is not a law nor is it a rule when doing business. The customer is right until they become bratty, entitled and down right ready to assault an employee; whether it's with a brick or with a few packets of mayonnaise, the customer is wrong for his part in this situation as well.
Whenever I hear people say 'the customer is always right', I tell them about when I used to work in a book store. A woman came to return a book and get a refund. Customers had to fill out a small form for refunds, and on it, list the reason they were returning the item. The customer wrote "I'm done reading it." The customer is NOT always right. In fact, most of the time you wonder how they found their way out of their own house that morning!
When too much pride gets in the way of intelligent thought. This was not self defense, it was retaliation for being humiliated. There is a huge difference.

I'd say they both do. You shouldn't throw things at people and you DEFINITELY shouldn't shoot at people. But let's not overlook the fact that throwing something at someone is the sign of an entitled brat.

I personally do not know what is going through people's heads that give them the desire to physically attack an employee over a grievance with the business, or bad customer service. Most employees have absolutely no control over what pissed you off about the business, and if an employee gives you bad customer service, you can leave a bad review, and/or complain to management, and if management can't make things right, you can take your business elsewhere. If you feel the desire to attack an employee, you are probably suffering from a mental illness, and either need help, or you need to be locked away. That being said, physical retaliation will hurt yourself way worse than the attacker. It's one thing to defend yourself, but the employee in this case walked out of the restraunt, and fired shots at the fleeing car. That is not self defense. Now, she would likely loose her job, spend years in jail, and no one would want to hire her any time soon. Had she just got the cars license plate, and pressed charges, she could have ruined the customers life, and maby even got some money out of it, but she traded it for about 10 seconds of a satisfied ego.
Especially when everyone is so short handed these days. It can all be fixe.. no need to attack the employees. They could be over worked or new. People need to take a breath and calm down. It's not the end of the world if you didn't get pickels on your burger.
@@Omegafoxx77 since the customer threw mayo at the employee, my assumption is the customer asked for no mayo, and got mayo anyway. You could give it to someone else (assuming you didnt bite into it), or worst case, you throw it away.
The irony is she could've called the cops and had him arrested for simple assault. I am a restaurant manager and yep we've had crazy folks toss food at us. Every time I just call the police and they get themselves arrested. I've watched someone leave in cuffs for tossing a handful of sugars. It's just a misdemeanor for simple assault but it sends a message to them alright. I have thought about how I would potentially put someone down if they ever came across my counter at me or grabbed one of my underage associates but man when I think about it I always imagine someone SCREAMING death threats, THROWING FISTS, PULLING KNIVES on me or my workers...not tossing a mayo packet. People are nuts.
My late husband was a McDonald's general manager, and he once had to grab a 17 year old female employee and pull her back in the drive thru window because the "customer" decided he wanted to kidnap and rape her! She's alive thanks to my husband, unfortunately back in the early 90's the cameras were not as clear as they are these days. He's been dead 6 years, and he predicted the self service kiosk, the stores having less cashiers because of it and the "fight for $10/hr" and increasing food costs. He predicted all of it, what he didn't see coming was the pandemic, and some restaurants so desperate for help in the kitchen that they offer a $1000 sign on bonus or retention bonus 😳. Once a customer refused to pull up in the drive thru line because they had a large order and were blocking other cars. One person only wanted coffee, but the other car insisted on not pulling up and blocking the drive thru! Robert reached in the register, tried to refund the money since the woman insisted on blocking the drive thru, she refused the refund, and said he WILL serve her the food, and she doesn't care about the person behind her only wanting coffee! He threw her refund into her window since she refused to take it in her hand. He the told her to leave, she was no longer welcomed there and was trespassing! She still refused to leave, by then, the drive thru had cars wrapped around the building all because she ordered $78 worth of food in the drive thru instead of pulling forward and someone would bring it to her, or just coming inside in the first place! Police were called, she was issued a notice if she returned, the police will arrest her for trespassing. He had to give food and discounts to the other cars that were wrapped around the building because of her.
If you really think the police would go arrest a mayo thrower, they would prob laugh at the complaint. She shouldve just threw something back, not bullets a drink or something

Having worked retail for years, I get her frustration. The majority of customers are fine. But you get some real entitled jerks who have this viewpoint that you, the lowly retail worker, fast food worker, or waiter are beneath them. That you are there to serve them, and everything should be perfect without you making any mistakes and every coupon/sale (either real or imagined) should work. However, you have to be able to control yourself as the worker. If the guy pulled a gun on her, I would be fine with her shooting him since that was real self-defense (edit: assuming she was near her gun; she wasn't really near her gun when the mayo was thrown). Mayonnaise though? No. What he allegedly did was disgusting and degrading to her. It did not warrant her to pull a gun (allegedly). And to what end? Now, she's being charged, she definitely lost her job, and she is in for a rough time. She let her emotions get the best of her. You have to shrug off the jerks.
