Very atmospheric, partly due to the weather. This serves to show that the industry has made some progress in twenty years, although motorised Setrights, and "Service" as a destination were past their time even then. I can claim to have driven every type of contemporary bus in this film, including the unlovely Dodge S56. Thanks for posting it.
I was in boarding school near Ipswich (Kesgrave Hall, now closed) at the time this was shot. That white minibus you can see in the distance at 0:44 might have been our school bus -- an old Sherpa van. Those buses bring back memories (not that I used them much; I only went to town once on the bus). I didn't notice at the time that the green local buses were Atlanteans, similar to those on the country buses at home (south London). Funny how much Atlanteans differ from one operator to another. Those here have very plain fronts compared to the LC version.
@@BristolRE Some elements of the appearance are the same as in LC though. The rear is more or less the same, as is the top front; just not the bit under the driver's window, which is flat unlike on the LC Atlanteans.
@@BristolRE perhaps it would bring back passengers remember the old buses back when they were young it would be nice to have to have a colourful transport system again in London instead of red
@@VICTOR-pf9eg Basically all the old operators were sucked into Arriva, so if it weren't TfL red it'd be Arriva turquoise. Though I do miss the post-NBC liveries as well, even though they were already owned by a handful of companies (Cowie, British Bus, Drawlane and a few others) which merged to form Arriva or were bought out by First.
I saw my only football match there back in 1991 or thereabouts. Ipswich Town v Oxford, Ipswich won 1/0 in the last couple of minutes after a really tedious game.
