Hey SCRAMBLED-O great video. The food looked good also. Got an idea for you on the bread part of that. Next time add 1/8 tsp. instant dry yeast and 2 tsp. of sugar to the dry mix. Nead it in the bag and let it rise while you process /build the fire.About 30-45 minutes. It will rise in the bag a little .Make sure you leave the bag slightly open. remove and press out just like you did to shape it. Then cook as you did. It will be like pizza dough. I am a bread baker. People in camp will be begging for a piece of bread. Take care.

We made garlic-pickled-leeks last spring that we harvested from the woods in my area of Northern Michigan. They were so potent that they became a Man-Test to eat five raw. They were AWESOME in a Bloody Mary! Cheers. :)

Just consider the flatbread to be an edible plate until you add some rye flour, carraway seeds, and some salt. A little dab of olive oil as you mix it will go a long way to make it more palatable. Flavor is everything. Another great vid. The lunch looked terrific.

Great video! Maybe to add a little flavor to the flat bread take some dried herbs (rosemary, oregano, basil) and grind them in a pestal and mallet to make them into a powder then mix it with your flour and water mixer. Also add a touch of salt. Keep the videos coming.

when harvesting ramps, don't dig up all the roots. cut off just above the root portion under the ground with your knife and leave the roots in place to regrow. you don't want to wipe out the population, they take a long time to mature. (I'm probably not the only one to comment this so I'm sorry if you've already heard it!) :)

Hi Sir O! Great vid as usual. I have a camp hack for you. At my local grocery store they sell cedar grilling planks in pack of 6 for cheap. These make good cutting board / dinner plate. They weigh next to nothing and you can throw them in the fire after using. I've been doing this for the past couple of years. Works great.

Great video man, nice to see a camp cooking video again. Try adding some herbs, your favorite seasonings or your ramps to the dough to make it less boring. Frying it in some oil or butter would liven it up a fair bit too.

I used to be a baker's assistant for about two years and after that was a fill in baker. Making bread or rolls is like many things, where you have to work it for just the right amount and it will be soft. If you over work it, it will get hard and the more you over work it, the harder it will get after it is cooked or baked. When I was a baker for Mr. Donuts and later for Dunkin Donuts, we would call it First Cuts, Second Cuts and Third Cuts. The Yeast Doughnut Rings would be First and Second Cuts. The Shell donuts that are filled are also First and Second Cuts. The Apple Fritters are Third Cuts. Try it out at home, this way you will get in practice to learn the perfect amount to handle the dough. If you learn a good yeast recipe, you can make a lot of bakery items with that same recipe. Doughnuts, Cinnamon Rolls, Hawaiian type Sweet Rolls, Long Horns, Tiger Tail Twists, Apple Fritters, Sweet Bread, Monkey Bread, Sweet Hot-dog buns and more. Dry Yeast in the little packets will last a long time, will go a long way and can be done in your wilderness cabin when it is finished. Mmmmm Cinnamon Monkey bread in a cast iron pot or Dutch Oven.
