If you keep your yeast in the freezer, it lasts almost indefinitely. You can use it directly from the freezer. I bought my last batch in bulk from Costco before 2020, and it still makes beautiful bread.

I do the same thing, and if ever in doubt, a sample can always be tested by blooming a little in a bowl with some warm water and sugar. If it's alive, it'll bubble up after a few minutes 😊

I have some close to 10 years in my freezer and it’s still good. It’s the kind in a square brick.

Just put into a mason jar or a flip top tight container. I generally just replace every 2-3 years cause I keep in freezer door. I never ever use the block amt of instant (NOT rapid rise yeast) commercial yeast in several years cause I rarely use more than 1/4-1 tsp of yeast in my bulk dough. Been baking 100% of my bread since the 70s. Sooo much natural yeast in my air and in organic flour you just do not need more unless your perhaps making a heavily enriched dough like brioche or challah.

Lol.. I was coming here to say that, because I buy my yeast in 1lb vaccume sealed bags. Once I open it it goes in the freezer double bagged. I have never had any issues no freezer burn nothing

You can always paint the 3 brackets under the shelf (against the wall) agreeable grey to blend in to the wall :)

Yes! And maybe paint the underside and edge of the shelf agreeable grey also, so it will blend in with the wall. Or take the whole thing down altogether. It looks really out of place. The rest of the bathroom looks great, though.

It looked wonderful on the wall just inside the bathroom door. Also, thinking the black piece may be too harsh unless you change your under shelf brackets to black. The goats and little bath pic would be cute where you considered putting your highland. He's sooo adorable. Your kitchen turned out fabulous as I'm sure the rest of the home will be when done. I got a bread machine at a church restore and it works great. I've made a lot of bread in it and certainly got my $10 worth out of it so far. Had it about 6 weeks now and LOVE it.

Add two cute little horizontal landscape orientation signs between the brackets on the bathroom shelf. Or use cup hooks to hang to small potted plants Maybe an Ivy or something that climbs

Love the new bathroom! I would paint the brackets on the wall the wall color so the just fade away. Maybe use the tin for the back of the cut in shelf. (How cool is that shelf!! Wish I had done that when I remodeled my bathroom!) Hope you all feel better soon!!! Hugs, Em ❤❤❤❤

I LOVE water kefir! As your grains age, they will grow in size and the fermented taste will become more pronounced. New grains produce a very sweet kefir. A little trick for your second ferment is to add 1/4 c. of juice from peaches or pears that you have canned. I have done this for years and it’s a great way to use that liquid and not have to buy juice to flavor the kefir.

I hope everyone is feeling better. You could paint the bottom of the bracket gray so it's not so noticeable. You could also hang some of your decorations on the wall when you first walk in.

I’d replace the shelf with a floating shelf, no brackets. They make different weight limits. As soon as you opened the cupboard door, I was thinking the same thing, bright, like Pioneer woman wallpaper. 💕

I keep my yeast in the freezer. I have used it many months past the use by date. It is fine. It still rises, and tastes fine.

I use past date yeast all the time, I store it in the fridge/ freezer so it last longer and as long as it isn’t too far past date I’ve never had any issues!

Here in southern WV we are 6a, so Mother's day is our last frost date. I always watch the long term weather and last year I got a 2 week jump on it. But in 2021, we had a hard frost on Mother's day. 🎉❤😂

On your shelf the brackets can be mounted on the top. Will lower the shelf for easier reach. Will have a more finished look like your after , I think. You are a tower of perseverance. BLESSINGS !!!

Jamerill, my water kefir grains preferred me to mix the hot water and sugar (and I put 1/4 tsp molasses, a raisin and a pinch of real salt) separate the grains until disolved, add the cold water and THEN pour on the kefir grains. I then did a second 24 hour ferment for a fizzy soda replacement.

Suggestion for high bathroom shelf: Corbels instead of white brackets? I’ve seen them in another You Tuber’s home (Dorsett Doorstep) in a few places and they look really good.
