Nice job on the video. I had a record store. I miss record stores. I made friends in record stores. CDs are convenient, but...(add all the "buts" you have ever heard and they are true.) Record floods - 1980 - had one ion a one stop I worked at. Toilet never stopped refilling at the end of the day. Boss showed up at 7 am and there was water pouring out from under the door. We had stacks of LPs in boxes all over the sales floor and they had all tipped over as the cardboard got wet. What a nightmare. My personal stash of stuff to buy was next to my desk..on the floor. I saved most of them and still have them. Sweet memories!

I go into the records stores in my area and unlike before, the staff doesn't know shit, except what they read online and the most customers have buds in their ears. I haven't heard yet one person ask when they hear what the store is playing, "Hey, who is that?"

June Records!! They just closed down in Toronto. They had a massive closing sale and ended up giving 30 or so boxes away for free, so naturally I snagged them! Filled up the entire SUV. Great shop.

This is great, I was 9 years old in 1967 and I used to visit friends in my neighborhood in Pensacola and there would be amazing music playing on LP by their parents that I did'nt hear on my little Panasonic round radio, it was Hendrix, The Allmans, Beatles, Cream, Creedence, nothing else in life brought as much Joy as music, my search for vinyl began in earnest a little later. At one time I went for the CD's and left Vinyl behind thinking they sounded so much better without the "bacon frying" (ha that's what my wife says about records), well I'm now back hard at finding great records, nothing like finding CLEAN copies of classic artists. I found you HAVE to have great gear to truely hear the fidelity, when I got my Marantz 2252 to go with my Bose speakers and Technics turntable, THAT was it, the heavens opened!

In Denver, there was a store downtown, called " Harmony Records " ; it was run by an Italian guy named Mike, which is my name too. I used to LOVE to spend Saturday afternoons with him, just listening to him talk about the 40's & the 50's. it was magic. ---------I had a fair collection, but sadly, I had to sell 2/3 of it when I moved from the Bay Area, to LA, --------That collector, was " Rowe's Rare Records " in San Jose. ----------------------I felt like Judas, selling my music--------my life . I cried when he left . ---------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o

This is such bs,young hipsters trying to bring something back from the past which died 30 years ago.I was teen in the mid 80s all the kids truly loved music and would talk about their favourite bands, wear their t-shirts,argue which bands were better, stand in line at record stores on release days it's just something you did not because it was trendy it's just how the world was back then, now I feel like the millennial hipsters are going to record stores for the trend factor first, music factor way second, and paying way to much for second hand vinyl inflating prices.

Vinyl sounds warmer and has depth. That's why the listener is drawn more towards listening to vinyl than to CD's. Cd's sound flat by comparison althogh they do have a wider dynamic range than records.....Approx 120 db compared to 70 db....Vinyl Rules!

Vinyl sounds only as good as the equipment used to play it. Invest in quality gear and then you will start to hear the true sound of vinyl. These plastic little rigs can not justify the true sound of vinyl.

It's great that younger people are getting into records and discovering their magic; however, this documentary shows what is (unfortunately) wrong with record collecting today. To wit, young hipsters who love vinyl and and have driven up the price of old records into prices that have turned true collecting into simple adversity. Common records that 15 years ago were $5 are now being sold for around $20 to $25 for relatively worn copies that in 10 years will be greatly devalued, simply because the market is not really geared towards serious collectors but rather young purchasers. As an example, the mustachioed bedroom player pulls out Toto and Supertramp (Seriously??) as the two sole representatives of his collection (an attempt at irony? Please tell me that is the reason. But I have owned both records at various points) and proceeds to play them on a crappy Pyle USB turntable. Gone is the old time knowledge of record shop owners spending years in the music industry and sharing their unbeatable knowledge. I have been to the two stores in Toronto shown in the video, and not once was I greeted when I walked in, and when I asked the clerks about a couple of fairly common older collectible records, it was obvious that they had no clue as to what I was referring. I like the stores for the new vinyl, but I didn't feel any sense of community or more than a cursory knowledge outside of newer indie bands. There was one store where I felt welcomed and the owner could help me, but for the life of me I cannot remember the name. But a neat little video to watch. Thanks.

mr. snowball u know that part you spoke about listening to pink floyd on a decent size stereo , that u said was like a religious experience ... ,that was common place for anyone who grew up in the 70s , or 60 70s , or at least thru their teenage years. not off puny little computer speakers .A much more enriching music experience . that has got to contribute to the difference in quality in the music made in the 70s and the music made since then.

I don't think that the discussion that vinyl is better than digital will help anyone. If we need arguments than not from people who play there records on cheap equipment and talk shit about digital distortion, it is obvious that they don't know what they are talking about. There is a difference, your taste should decide, try both, maybe use both and that's all. I am totally into vinyl, I don't like digital, but that is just me.
