A summary of what I loved about the Street-Rod and why I had to let it go. Hope this buyers Summary sheds the lime light on the XG750A and the great and not so great things it brings to the table...

Thank-you JedzMOTO, I nearly bought it. Now you have helped me changing my mind. It is a pain for me because I really love it. Now I have to start looking again. I'm considering the XSR700 or the Vulcan S. I hope I can finally make my difficult decision. Big thanks for this review, is it possible that you got a bad Street Rod serie?

I don't think it was a bad bike I got. It was just the wrong bike and it was sold to me as the right bike... I have since moved on from the XR1200 and now am on a 2018 Triumph Bonneville T120. I have had the T120 for 3 months and have 13K miles on it! That was the right bike, for me. If you want to go occasional touring I would not recommend a Street-Rod, if your over 6 foot tall I would not recommend a Street Rod, If you ride more than 100 miles at a time I would not recommend the Street-Rod. The XSR700 is a great machine. If your looking for a great entry level bike a Triumph Bonneville variant is by far the best standard motorcycle on the market. A 900cc street cup or street twin will out perform a HD street-Rod. The 2016+ 2 cylinder water cooled Bonneville engine is top notch and is the bike everyone is trying to compete with... My 2 cents. Best of luck!

I bought the XSR900 after deciding against the street rod, and I havent looked back once. It is a fantastic machine that I would recommend to anyone. I have no doubt the 700 is just as superb

You are still the RU-vid authority on this bike. I'll be looking for your XR content. Thanks for taking the time to share your XG experience. So men from that bike's Dev team needs to call you for your feed back

Appreciate your honesty regarding the bike. I test rode it I also didn't like the ergonomics of the bike and heat coming directly on to the thighs so I decided not to go for it. Happy riding anyways.

pushpinder singh heat is the main issue on this one and the crunched torque in the low rpm range , cuts throat in traffic (mumbai). But then the pricing is right and its decent fast and good looks .

I have never owned nor ridden the XG750 but when I first heard of them it drew some interest so I started looking at them for perhaps a future purchase. That is when I started noticing that there were quite a few used ones around at dealers and other "for sale" venues and I also noticed one similar characteristic with them all....they all had very low mileage. So one can only begin to wonder why that was and can only come to a conclusion that there was something very wrong with them. And now with all the reviews of them I am finding out just what those problems are. Being a flat track fan I had heard and seen the new race version of the Harley XG750 was a dog on the track and being beaten by its old school older brother the XR750 among others. I guess I should have expected the street version of the XG750 would not impress too much. And also the fact that Willie G. would rather sit around at the corporate board meeting table rolling and smoking dubes than getting the Harley Davidson motorcycles up to date nothing about "new" HD motorcycles surprises me anymore. Now I see they are coming out with a sort of dual sport adventure dirt bike sort of thing next year. I hope Harley has figured out a way to chop off at least 500 lbs from anything that might be going of road...it would be a bitch to try and upright a 1000lb. motorcycle in a mudhole. So I guess no thank you Harley Davidson...i will go check out a new Triumph...

I ended up on a Bonneville bought it 6 months ago and it has 20K miles... No regrets and it's by far better than anything that HD has right now. I only wish them the best as I wish all MC manufacturers...

Thanks for your frankness Jedz. What was it about reliability of the street rod?
@pjodysseus2746
@pjodysseus2746 6 лет назад
jeyzee691 it was a piece of dog crap. Started rusting within monthes, plastic faded and parts fell off. Can't believe HD charged $11,000+ in Canada for such low quality!
@Jedz123

Torn intake boot, electrical issues, the junction box collects water, rusting of frame, rusting of exhaust and other steel components, 02 sensor issues... Went into the service shop 2 times for the 6 months I owned it.

Jedz Moto wow. If HD were attentive they'd get in touch with you. I don't think that anyone put more miles on the street rod than you. You are virtually their quality control guy. I don't think anyone in this planet, as yet knows more about that bike than you. At least to the extent it's used in real world.

So your main problem is that a bike designed for an urban environment and shorter rides wouldn't go 2000 miles in comfort? (>O.o)>
@Jedz123
@Jedz123 6 лет назад
The problem was; I was sold by HD the facade of a standard Motorcycle that was as good as the Japanese bikes (comparison to the FZ-7 or XSR900 where implied) when in truth I didn't receive a product close to that comparison. I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on Motorcycles that weren't touring bikes but standard upright bikes as sold like the Street-Rod. I really did want to love this bike but it's not a good Motorcycle...
@TrashPanda5150

Jedz Moto Well I guess the difference between us is I knew going in that the bike I had chosen was an "urban brawler" with some midrange one -up ability. I think you let the hype train get one over on you. If you take the Street bikes for what they're meant to be, they are a great ride! expect too much and you'll be disappointed.
@Jedz123
@Jedz123 6 лет назад
msmith5150 thanks for your input! True my view may be slightly jaded but the motor and general geometry of the machine is spot on. I don't think most ride to the extremes I do on an "entry level" bike. I just would hate someone like myself to go into a dealer and ask, will this do what a Japanese bike of the same caliber do? Be told it does and than have them be disappointed.

I dont understand why people keep bringing up fz-07 when talking about this bike, besides price it has nothing in common. My buddy is looking at one of these and I just got fz-07 myself.

My prediction came true. When i spoke with you after you deleted your 3000 mile Rusting video, you were defending it. But the reliability issues were shocking and i had a feeling you would ditch it before the end of the season. I almost bought ione, but the ergos were awful, and my hunch was it was overpriced and shoddy. Disappointed with Harley..

The exhaust design sucks. The foot rests suck; too small and narrow. The Tank shape is weird; flat and wide. It sucks. Though if your raise it it looks, “Not too bad”. And the way the front brake lines just dangle off the forks looks unfinished and not very safe. What’s up with this company? One of the biggest in the World and it keeps coming up with poorly designed Motorcycles. If you want to sell bikes try getting the design right. When I look at the Street 500 & 750 I think to myself, “That doesn’t look right”. At least this, XG750A, looks almost normal. What was up with the Fork Angle on the other two, ffs? Apart from the Sportsters this is your only foray into Cafe/Sports-type bikes and you struggled with it. Amazing. Whoever is Signing Off on these designs needs to be demoted to...and be doing something different.
