I've said it before but I'll say it again...... this guy doesn't get enough credit for his editing, keeps the story moving, there's lots of popular youtubers that could learn from AC.
Agree with you 100%. The amount of time that is put into his videos is amazing. Question: Is he really editing his videos or does he have someone that does that for him? My guess is he has someone that is doing all the editing so he can focus on video content.
@@ConstructionMachineryChannel He said in a "recent" video that all his editing is done by himself. That because it makes more sense. Each shot was shot for a purpose, it would took him too much work to detail everything he has in mind. Could have change since but I really doubt it. He seems to have let go a huge part of his previous activity and he doesn't release that often. It kinda make sense.
This channel has been a constant source of entertainment for me for years. I tell people all the time about it and try to explain the content to them. “It’s just a guy and his dogs living in upstate New York. He buys heavy equipment, repairs it, breaks it then repairs it again.” A week later they can’t wait to tell me how much they love the channel. Keep it up man, you’re literally breaking new ground with this content and editing style.
@@chukwuemerie Hear! Hear!! I agree!! Nor does he hardly ever reply to anyone!! Except with his one word reply. “Thanks.” That, Is all I ever seen him say to anybody. One word reply. Wait. I take that back. “Thank You.” I have seen him say that. Those 2 words. “THANK YOU!”
@@chukwuemerie it would ruin the narrative. I wish it was more organic and not funded by youtube revenue and "subscribers" Makes it more lifelike. RU-vid is a censorous cancer in many cases, hate the fact they reward some, and silence others.
I love how he raced ahead of the lowboy to get the shot of him passing it, then pulled over to get a shot of it going down the road. It's the stuff like that that keeps me coming back to this channel. The production value is so, so good.
The best part is it's just raw footage aside from cutting some out, no real fancy editing. I'm with ya though he as always just shown him doing work and for whatever reason it works for me. No fancy stuff
@@pilotazo8618 Matt's recovery is good but they definitely have some clickbait haha. A lot of words in all caps in their titles. "I do cars" is a good one or "south main auto" are another few NE USA channels about cars/ machines.
Hey Andrew...to buy a truck like that sight unseen, get it up to your property, haul one load, find a problem, fix it temporarily, figure it's maybe too much to take on and get rid of it while not losing your shirt over it...that's a WIN.
I'm sure if it's a driver for the transmission solenoid, you could send the computer to someone to repair. I mean I'm sure I could repair it if he's sure it's the driver for the #4 solenoid and what pin it connects to.
But the truck is trying to shift into 2nd and fails. If it was a safety switch the truck would not try to up shift. The ECU thinks everything is fine but somewhere the signal is just not being sent to the solenoid.
@@PvtPapa exactly, the output is lost on the ECU. I’m sure there is someplace that could fix that, but 4k for the module and I’m pretty sure that is just the price for the controller, that is not including the cost of having a CAT tech reprogram it to the truck. This is the exact reason why I hate computers, they are nothing but a shitshow! If he could take the controller out and get it apart, I would guess he could find a burned up solid state relay on the board.
That's a nice truck! Looked huge on the lowboy. Awesome to see the CAT 977 getting unloaded. Excited to get started on a Part 2 soon! She deserves the love for sure.
@@AndrewCamarata Caterpillar also offers automatic retarding control standard on the 725, 740 Ejector and 740 GC. It is moving toward automatic retarding control as standard on all of its ADTs, which means taking the lever out of the truck. The ADT understands if it is on a grade and how much payload is onboard. Based on these inputs, it selects the most appropriate gear and uses the most appropriate level of retardation. “The operator only has to take the foot off the accelerator; that will engage the automatic retarding control and standard automatic downhill-descent control provides security on grade and eliminates the guesswork in shifting and applying service brakes while descending. The operator matches the gear to the grade, backs off the throttle and lets the transmission retarder manage the descent safely, while helping reduce service brake wear, operator fatigue and maintenance costs. In tough traction conditions, the interaxle differential lock transmits 50% of available torque to the forward axle and 50% to the two rear axles, simplifying operation. In addition, it can be engaged on-the-fly while slipping for smoother navigation of tough job sites.
I agree, just some broken solder joints. Seen that a hundred times before. Please like the comment above so Andrew sees it and saves a lot of money! When the transmission works again, it's well worth it.
Finally. This thing's been lurking in the background for months...... worth the wait for nearly an hour of content though. Kids in bed, phone on silent, beer in hand........... bring it on Mr C.
Cody is one helluva fit dog! He's been wide ass open, rain or shine or snow, right beside you on every off-road excursion, in every vehicle, in every video, since Levi showed him the ropes as a pup. So cool to now see him leading the younger generation, lol. Heavy equipment, the outdoors, and dogs... Love your content, Andrew.
In the olden days - pre-20th Century - when they said "We'll set the dogs loose on you if you try to run away," they weren't kidd'n. Can't outrun them.
Andrew CAN fix just about anything, I think. The question is always SHOULD you fix it. You were able to break even, and you have lots of irons in the fire so sending it to its new home is the way to go. The one truly valuable thing you really do have a limit on is your own time.
It always does my heart good to see that Andrew is still chugging along. The country as a whole might be circling the turlet with inflation through the roof but this guy is still out there taking jobs, getting work done and buying crazy-big earth-moving equipment. It’s kinda like that saying from ‘The Big Lebowski’: “The Dude abides.” Honestly, I hope Andrew never quits. At least not for a very long time.
i dont thank anyone takes the time to appreciate all the hard work you must put in Andrew just to be able to get us these diffrent camera angels of every diffrent scene and every little detail😎 you sir are the man because not just anyone average person is this damn savey and committed to branging us these cool video's and i for one apprecitae them bub so keep up the good work i love what you do..........
Sure we do! When I started watching Andrew he had 450 k subscribers! Now he has over 1million baby! God bless Trump 2024 Thank you Justice Clarence Thomas
The way the transport guy was swinging off the stack at the end had me in tears, you know he was questioning his life choices for a few minutes there..😂😂
Ive recently rebuilt an auto & it certainly wasn't a transmission fault or clutch packs. When those go it will still shift but you'll rev like you're in neutral. Id service a valve-body before i pulled a transmission out. Id clean and air-check solenoids before a valve-body, but in that truck's case id look at some of the programable features. I know its possible to set a CAT so it stays in first for site safety. Also, the little flash into 2 but doesnt shift is exactly what happens when this mode has been set.
Another great video and amazing drone views Andrew. I've heard of the American right to repair bill over here in the UK. It sounds like CAT deliberately make their ECU'S in a way that you need their service engineers to visit at ridiculous prices when a modular replacement DIY ECU swap would be the better option. I'm very surprised you've not got your own semi and lowboy like Jesse has. I'm sure it would make a quick return and pay for itself in no time. The young lady adds great camera work and knowledge to the channel so credit to her 👏 Why do we all get older but you appear to always look younger? Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your life, adventures and expertise with us the viewers Big love from the UK 🇬🇧 subscribers
The more likely case is the ECU is shared between several different configurations of truck, and you need it programmed to work correctly with that specific engine/transmission/sensor set. After all, an ECU from a Ford F150 isn't the same across all models even of the same manufacturing year. The price however is a little bit of BS - charging for mileage to the customer site, but they all do it that way.
This was one of the best videos in a long time! large equipment, trucks and moving them around and then taking a huge six wheel dump truck up a mountain to move logs... epic, shame you couldn't sort the gearbox but cant wait to see the login machine in action, from the quick glimpse it looks super clean and tidy so lets hope it gets the job done! Mountains looking beautiful with the colour in the trees and the work on the drive clearly is helping ease the access. Great video as always and cant wait for the next update!
Andrew you never cease to amaze me! Love how you film, edit, and post your videos! You have such a skill at all of this stuff. You inspire me too. Can only imagine what this world would look like if we were all half as busy as you are. Puppies are great, bring such a warm side to the videos!! I keep wondering when I’m going to see you on a late night show lol. You’re so cool headed and laid back!
Andrew, If that truck has an interlocking differential lock in the tandem drive axles and it is stuck on, it will not allow the transmission to upshift into the higher ranges....just a thought...👍👍
I would think that if it were interlocked, it would be in the computer. But the computer does think it's trying to put it into 2nd gear. It lights up the 2 on the dash and then fails. So I think the computer is working and is not interlocked. The shift solenoid likely has it's own relay, maybe on the computer board, or outside the computer that could be causing issues.
Andrew I just wanted you to know you are truly an inspiration to a lot of people. Keep up the great work. I watch every video you make. They are great. Thank you.
It's seems crazy to me that you can't access the "codes" from the ECM to see what's preventing the shift into 2nd like you can with a 3rd party car scanner (likely a sensor is telling the ECM that something is wrong inside the transmission). Right-to-Repair on farm and construction equipment is a real problem. I just hope the previous owner didn't snip the "Check Engine Light" to hide the problem....
Unfortunately the way the heavy equipment and farming world have become compliant is by offering to sell their special cables that hook up to machines and offering their software at a monthly premium. 😢 makes it hard for independent guys but hey we still do it. Find a good independent guy. Or maybe pay me to come from az
Unless I'm misjudging how old this machine is it might not have a very advanced diagnostic system in it, machines were behind the curve with things like lots of sensors to tell you every problem especially before they needed a lot more electronics to meet emissions.
The right to repair bill has passed in some states I believe. John Deere is also pulling this stunt on Not letting owners repair their own equipment. Corporate greed with a dash of "How dare youism" involved.
I feel like a man for changing my pickups alternator, AC is out here hotwiring a rock truck transmission. Dude is in a class of his own. Thanks for the upload, great video, as always you crushed it.
Thanks Andrew for sharing. Learn so much from this channel and is inspirational to get moving doing stuff! Love the dog shots and so does Buddy my Golden.
Hey just want to give a "heads up" for watching Andy's channel: If you're like me, I skip all over the dang place on watching videos. Being a former coal/surface miner (ret) I like to watch a lot of dirt moving and mechanic work. So I usually look at the titles and skip to the most entertaining, for me. DON'T! You can't do that on his channel. He does so much more in these videos than the title contains. When I say that Andrew has more content than any other show, I mean it. I watch them all! Diesel Creek, Letsdig and his good friend Jesse Mueller (he's really good too!) He's prolly the best so far, in my opinion anyway. His subscribers attest to that. 1.14 M! He's a mud slinging, dirty handed, videographer who has really captured the masterful art of keeping his content entertaining at all points. One minute he's going break neck down a dirt road and the next he's figuring out which diode is bad on a plug. WTH! If this were a chick flick, you'd be crying one min and laughing the other. Bahaaaaa! He's a GoPro Pimp! Anyhoo........ I found the best process is just go to his channel and binge watch in sequence till you need a switch in subjects Lol That's my two cents! I promise, I do not know this guy. Just like his videos!
If you jump around on ACs channel he will have bought a new property, terraformed it and the seasons will have changed in like 3 min. Dude puts so much footage and progress into these uploads, he is truly one of a kind.

He looks a lot better too, bags under his eyes are gone. She probably feeding him better and certainly keeping him in bed for longer. Good to see. I'm jealous as hell haha.
Andy I cant thank you enough for all the time you put in these videos, I really live my life trough you. thinking I could live like you, the reality is far from it for multiple reasons. So every time I see a notification, I get happy. Thank you man.
I Had to comment on this because i drive those and the cat 770 haul trucks at the steel mill i work at now in texas. They are very reliable when working correctly i weigh in on the scales with 100000+ pounds with full load of slag. we extended the the beds up 4 feet so u can haul more material. Also on 2nd note they are a death trap with no working ac the air flow is trash in them with limited window movement. Maybe u can find another one in the future like i said they are a beast for their size!
Thank you friend Andrew for sharing another of the odysseys that you have accustomed us to. You don't always win, there are times when things don't go well, but that's what it's all about. we have to keep going. Good luck in the next one.👍👍
I have told this to dozens of people. One of my neighbor drop 1000 dollars on new batteries for equipment when I clearly told him to just buy some small solar panels and install them. For years he would jump start a lot of that stuff yet he never did install solar panels. Another neighbor has installed solar panels on anything that might sit for a day or 2 outside and has had great luck along with being able to start everything pretty darn easy.
Solar panels work great. Apart from the convenience of always having charged batteries, they pay for themselves by making the batteries last a lot longer. Just be aware that some cheap panels can discharge the battery in dark conditions. Make sure the panel has a blocking diode to prevent this.
One thing I always liked (and still do like) about Andrews videos is that he always does good at filming things, especially when he’s fixing something he will show you what needs to be fixed and show most of the process in doing so.
Andrew, your channel is what really deserves the viewers it has. Still making good content while other youtubers took quality to a very low level. Thank you for the awesome videos!
The best part IMO, was his lady friend driving the stinkin' truck like she does that every day!! AND she actually talked ON CAMERA to us! Maybe Andrew will let her name slip out one day? Love your videos as always! Thank you.
Hey Andrew I just wanted to say thank you for all the inspiration you have given me. I've been watching you video for a long time now and always looking forward to your next ones you will make. :D I've even started to start on one of my own project (electric golf cart from the 80s) only bc of the good deal I got on it and the inspiration you had on me . The really great thing about your shop Chad is that you made it deep. I’ve seen a lot of guys that build their shops and just as deep as a garage. I helped build a shop for my best mate and we designed it so that we can put in a lift and on the second bay we set it up so we can install a mezzanine. Now he’s on a budget just like you so a little bit at a time. But it’s soooo going to be worth it. Keep up with the videos. Your channel is tied with Diesel Creek. I’ve told all my mates about your channel and they think it’s awesome 😁

I always learn something in his videos. I’ll never have a need for a dump truck like that, but I got all giddy when I saw the video was posted. Thanks Andrew!
It's what I would have done. Get it done before you get stuck. I would just put the selector into first gear, go slow and enjoy the ride. For some reason I deal with too many machines without brakes.
Thanks for some very entertaining content. Someone who moves a LOT of rocks or dirt will find a use and won't mind spending the money. Seems the newer, the harder to fix. Jim Bell (Australia)
Not far from you, I was Andrew. Thought of you! A beautiful Hudson Valley long summer weekend, circa Kingston, just south of Saugerties. This was a very nice surprise to see today. I wasn't feeling well and this cheered me up. I'm sorry that didn't work out for you. Reminded me of hauling dirt and rocks when I was four years old and was all tuckered out by the end of the day! Wow that was nice to see that dog collar tracker in use. Who knew they would travel that far away from you. You went after them and Blue looked like he was ready to jump for joy to see you. As he says "Cody made me follow him". haha. I'm glad they were both safe. It just goes to show that when people let their animals out at night, they have no idea how far they go until they are at the back door wanting in again. Blue is getting bigger!
Great looking forward to seeing the Bell truck video looks like this rock is a keeper, and BTW STOP jumping off your equipment, I drove trailers for 35 years always jumping off the tractor back of trailers and loading docks until I had knee surgery on both knees, find a way to climb off don't end up like me.
These trucks have a shift unit that tells the computer what gear its in with a few solenoids on the side of the transmission where a seal goes and it fills up with fluid and fry's it out, could be worth checking out!! Love the videos!
When will you do another hill top road fixing? Last one was satisfying and relaxing. I am thanking you for your videos. You have no idea what impact it has done to my life. I'm a Army Vet w/ptsd and loved every clips you have. Thank you.
