The Mann’s are some stand up guys. Really helped you get started. Can’t go wrong with the old 4020, affordable, big enough for most tasks, reliable as a hammer, plus the utility of the loader. That was a smart choice. Best of luck on your first growing season!!
The 4020 Diesel has a six-cylinder engine tested at 84 drawbar and 91 PTO horsepower. The 4020 is significant for its great popularity; over 184,000 units were built. It was the most popular tractor of its time.
nothing beats, friendly, helpful, caring, selfless, giving neighbors that will do anything to help fellow farmers that are new and help them get started, this goes for anything really. I have noticed the americans and canadians have a real strong bond with fellow farmers and stay united as one and band together to help out when needed!
Love the fact that you’re farming with old school equipment!! The hydraulic cylinder on the disc is on backwards. The moving arm (Ram) should be attached to the axle and the base of the cylinder (that hoses are attached to) should be connected to the frame. You can swap the hoses around on the cylinder to make it work. Then the hose shouldn’t be too short.
Hey Spencer, just stumbled onto your channel! Great to see young folks starting out on a farm. I've got a daughter and son-in-law that live up in Charles City and have always admired the Iowa farm land. Hope it goes well! Looking forward to more videos along the way.😊
Congrats on buying a farm! Good to see your dad helping out. Must have had a full recovery ❤️🩹 Farming is becoming a family business, good luck to you all!! 🤠
I absolutely love your voice over. And I love you shoutout Josie we love you. Oh Spencer how are you gonna transport your corn and beans if grant has the trucks 👀 And yes share the loan stuff I’m curious
I’m digging this channel and I just found it keep the small farming content up there are lots of younger guys like myself wanting to get into this sort of stuff and having someone to learn with on the way would be nice
The beginning farmer loan process would be awesome, you hear about them but never find out how to get started or what ducks you need to have in order as well, get it done so can hopefully get started on my, we appreciate it brother, and God bless your near farmland in Jesus name
Very glad to see your enthusiasm of getting into farming, but I would be looking at purchasing something like a 4640 for your second tractor rather than a 4020. Not bashing on you at all and am happy to see the togetherness of the Mann family, but you really need to look at upsizing your horse power for future gain.
You might want to wear some ear muffs if you value your hearing. Nice purchase though, I bet that old girl appreciated the TLC you have given it. I hope it treats you good as well.
Yeah I was struggling to get it into 8th gear. Eventually I figured out how to shift it constantly its just worn out and probably needs rebuilt. Slower was better pulling the disk as it swayed a lot and the front end is super loose from having the loader on for years.
@@spencerhilbert right ya range changes on those transmissions are bit harder .. without a heavy load starting off in 6th works well for roading As for the disc just use a chain and load binder between draw bolt and one outside corner trails nice then 😁 happy farming!
My 1966 4020 is a piece of crap. It barely turns over with both brand new batteries and jumped with a power pack and a pickup truck. When it does start, only runs for five minutes with black smoke then dies and I can’t get it started until I recharge the batteries. I’ve replaced everything on the fuel system, injectors, pre pump, filters, fresh fuel, blew all the lines, bled the whole thing. Only thing left is the injector pump, which I don’t know how to check. And it has a hell of a knock when it runs.
