Byakuya Voice Comparison (CV: Mutsumi Tamura) | Under Night In-Birth II [SYS:Celes] 

Puberty (a decade) hit Byakuya (his voice actress) like a Wald normal.
This one is a mess so I'll apologize first. Like Nanase, Byakuya seemingly didn't have as many lines recorded as the others so his new moves in UNICLR repeated lines from his normals. UNI2 rectified this by having him keep those lines for his specials but changing up a number of his normals. That being said, Byak already was sharing lines across some of his moveset so it was pretty annoying trying to assign them to the right comparison. None of his 2B lines are similar, Byak's 66B didn't have its own line in 1, his j2C lines were basically repurposed, only one of his web procs share a line, and he had no unique line for his 214[X]~C move. FB did however give altered lines for his 214X series if done in the air so that's neat. Working across his voice did make me remember Steer Enders having certain voicelines and I remembered now that Gord's old 2C line got moved to his Steer Ender.
I don't really care about Byakuya's because he's such a non-character who has so little interaction with the rest of the cast that someone like Carmine managed to get more than him now. Hyde being the victor of UNI1 just means Byakuya and Strix were just faffing around waiting to find Zohar to approach the altar but to no obvious success. The next 3 months have them continue looking for her but the Final Night actually does have Zohar appear. Byakuya just being able to rob Zohar of potentially playable status is a mark I wasn't planning on putting against him before UNI2 but here we are. Hopefully Ogre can do something for him.
Mutsumi Tamura frequently voices young boy and boyish girl characters in her line of work so Byakuya, while being an early role, is not a new thing for her. I can actually pick her voice out a lot more now and I was pretty happy to hear her be the voice of Hermes in Stone Ocean, a role that practically fit her like a glove. But you can just HEAR how much deeper her voice has gotten and Byak sounding like an octave deeper really does take away that "this middle schooler is laughing at you" vibe he had going for him. Nothings really happened in the story for Byak to sound more aggressive with the deeper voice so I'm willing to chalk this up to the march of time than a voice direction issue.
