dkspencercusto... Showing over a 2 Joule increase in power using the same ammunition on the Byrna HD by just turning the screw on the back. Approximately seven turns clockwise or till it bottoms out. Obviously if you kill yourself doing this or void your warranty don't cry to me or sue me, lol.

Question. I may have missed it, but do you have the screw turned all the way as far as it can go? Also, I was wondering if you always keep it turned all the way up? Because I turned mine up just a little and I was wondering if it was safe to keep it turned all the way? Thanks

@@Thewolfamongus74 Yeah, I backed mine off like a quarter to an eighth of a turn from all the way but I keep mine turned up all the time I don't think it the power level that it's at it's going to hurt anything, but that's just me guessing.

It seems to be able to adjust power but it actually doesn't. It's a timing screw for when the barrel slides all the way back and the byrna fires. So it doesn't go off before the Bernal is seated all the way back. You may get very little power gain by fine tuning the timing with the screw. This is why the new models have no access to the screw. More people did more damage than good.

Do you know if the (new or old) user manuals for the Byrna pistols describe that? I'm glad this reviewer provided FPS metrics. Most Byrna reviews are qualitative...and I've only found one review that fired Byrna pepper balls against a target equipped with a few layers of clothing.

My new Byrna LE shot the first 12 rounds at 285 f/s.

@@billrundell2097 Wow, that's even worse than the last 3 I got from them. That's only 10 joules if you were using their ammo. This is way heavier ammo, and this was about the same power, you should have got way more out of an LE. I'd contact them.

Thanks for the updates 👍 But in a defensive scenario firing once every 2min at high velocity isn't going to help much. Unless the velocity can be maintained at a rapid firing rate, it's fairly pointless. However your uploads seem to indicate that the screw in the back does actually do something - like is does on the Tippmann TPX, the grandpa of CO2 pistols.

Well it's a CO2 gun so rapid-firing it with or without the screw turned up, it's not going to make any difference, cylinders going to get cold and you're going to lose power, which I'm sure you know. And realistically it's not like turning up the screw on a m17, you're gaining 20 ft per second not 120 ft per second so it's not going to impact much of anything, really

Hi all.. I had one.. checked it out thoroughly.. now honestly.. I'm just being honest.. it's only good for training.. it is actually a danger to try use as self defense..it won't stop much .. and it looks real.. so you escalated to lethal force.. on you .

On another note, I just wanted to know which way to turn the damn screw to turn it up or down I didn't have 30 minutes to go through your videos. I can't hear You talk half. The time nor you've done is hold up a paper with a bunch of notes, not telling me which side is the more powerful or less powerful one righty stronger, less? Where is it the other way around?

On these, I mix it up. I like the 9.9 gram Canada Riot balls these are little weak for them though unless you're really close. I like the 3.7 Canada Riot Balls for range. V2s are a good in between.

A lot of times I actually stagger the ammo and put riot balls at the top and progressively get lighter

TipX for me, being in CA I can't legally use pepper balls so I must rely solely on kenetic impact, and in my opinion, the Byrna just doesn't produce the power you want for that. I've got my TipX tuned to shoot 12 3.5 gram riot balls into the 400's with the last couple shots in the mid 300 fps range. This is also with a 9" barrel with a .682 Freak insert. Balls are dead on .680 so it's sized real close which is what you want. I can get up to 30 joules with it, shoots hard and is very accurate. Riot balls go right through both sides of a soup tin can like butter. . I really like this pistol and have two 12 shot mags for it.

Probably because the screw is a velocity adjustment screw that the factory put in there but does not acknowledge

And if you're asking about what method it changes the velocity I honestly would defer that question to someone who's tore one of these apart.

@@brandonsalice1890 it looks more like it's changing the length of travel of the hammer. Same end result, lol. But like if you told me you knew for a fact that it was doing the spring instead I wouldn't argue with you because it's apparent it's one of those two things and without being able to get more than one angle at it, it'd be hard to tell for a 100% sure

I think the dude who makes his own 12 gram adaptor got up to 300. Mercy Less Lethal. Sells other neat stuff.

I only got 320 once on my Byrna XL using my fx pocket chronograph but I made sure my co2 was nice and hot before I did it and it never happened again so it might have been a fluke. But I did get an average of 307 on a 8 string shot count. Like I said though I had the co2 canister in the sun then held it in my hand for a min before putting it in plus it was 100+ degrees. I did the test with the adjustment and I honestly dont know if that does anything. my numbers seem to imply that it doesn't but I'll do more testing. Co2 temp seems to be the deciding factor when it comes to higher fps.

Byrna is not designed to go high than 300fps+ the seals,bolt etc would break under high velocity stress. It shoots fine as long as it is above 250fps ...then it is good for close range in your face shots, that would blind,stop an attacker,if you shoot at the eyes etc, hopefully it will destroy the eyeball permanently. Eye for an eye...😉 For higher fps pistols buy the Tiberius/Grimburg/Pepperball FSC and Mission Tpx(TippmannTPX ) You can mod those with milsig heatcore o rings and get 380fps easily from them. Shoot a 8g grimburg jul from a fsc/mission at attackers face,head ...it will knock them out...empty mag and it becomes almost lethal...dont get caught,wear a mask and hoodie so not to be identified,run away and keep quiet and hope noone canrecognise/report you to the criminal,mafia government

I just turned it all the way clockwise and then back it off like 1/8 if that just barely a little so it's not all the way

@@DKSpencerCustomKinetics so you are afraid to turn it all the way, for some bad things might happen with the gun, that's why manufacturer does not acknowledge it, as for me I only have one HD and will keep it stock, only you and those with several guns do that for if it breaks you guys have back ups 😉

Ok here is where I stand on the Byrna it’s a cool looking gun and easy to carry. Here is where things go way down hill for the price of that gun and the power or lack of you get out of it there is much better options out there to get and carry for less lethal. You can throw that gun at someone and hurt them more than shooting them with a projectile 😆. If you are using it for strictly pepper balls I can say yes that’s exactly what it’s made for and NOTHING else. You are definitely not stopping someone in their tracks shooting a harder heavier projectile that’s for sure with those numbers. Definitely a pepper ball gun ONLY.

I will agree with that except that I feel someone that is really good with one could be effective with proper shot placement, in many cases. At least to the point of getting out of a situation. But, yeah, the people that think you can literally put someone down with a kinetic is 🤣
