AWESOME, AS ALWAYS! I LOVE THESE LAUNCHERS! WE HAD AN OFFICER INVOLVED IN A CAR AND SUBSEQUENT FOOT CHASE IN ROCHESTER, NY ON SEPTEMBER 25. THE SUSPECT HAD JUST FIRED MULTIPLE ROUNDS IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AROUND 9:30 PM AND THEN FLED THE SCENE IN A PICKUP AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE RESPONDING OFFICER GAVE CHASE AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY AMBUSHED WHEN ROUNDING THE CORNER OF A BUILDING AND WAS BURNED BY HIS TASER IN YET ANOTHER SITUATION WHERE A TASER FAILED A LEO. IN THE SUBSEQUENT STRUGGLE FOR THE OFFICER'S SIDEARM, DESPITE HAVING SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND NUMEROUS OTHER INJURIES WHILE THE SUSPECT REPEATEDLY ASKED THE OFFICER TO SHOOT HIM, A ROUND WAS DISCHARGED INTO THE SUSPECT'S CHIN. OTHER OFFICERS RESPONDING IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER IMMEDIATELY BEGAN ADMINISTERING LIFE SAVING FIRST AID TO THE SUSPECT. BOTH THE OFFICER AND SUSPECT ARE IN SATISFACTORY CONDITION. BODY CAM VIDEO WAS RELEASED BY THE RPD WITHIN 72 HOURS, BUT NOT BEFORE THREE MEMBERS OF THE ROCHESTER CITY COUNCIL PUBLICLY CONDEMNED THE SHOOTING. THOSE THREE HAVE SINCE BEEN WIDELY CRITICIZED IN LIGHT OF THE BODY CAM FOOTAGE THAT CLEARLY SHOWS THE OFFICER'S ATTEMPS TO USE NON-LETHAL FORCE TO SUBDUE A SUSPECT THAT IS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN IN POSSESSION OF MULTIPLE FIREARMS, A LARGE, 100 GRAM STASH OF COCAINE, AND WAS WANTED ON A FELONY WARRANT. Great video, been looking for this comparison. Nice to see the XL hit 300’s. Doesn’t seem like LE is worth the upgrade but if someone was starting fresh they SHOULD absolutely get the LE instead of SD/HD if budget permits
I just naturally assumed you were editing out the random people walking in front of the targets who got hit LoL 😂 Both are great options for self defense as you showed. One hits a little harder and the other gives you more shots per CO2 cartridge. The SDXL hits with the same power as my Hi Viz model. Hope more people check out your other channel as it's a fun eclectic review of different technologies. Hope you do some more indie games soon.
Didn't know you had another channel until you mentioned it here. Got the 3D printer and generator videos in my video list now. I'm reference to this video, I was curious as to what the differences are between these two. Good stuff.
Yeah, I also hear that they are putting out a new launcher next year. Hopefully, I’ll get a preview of that in January in Shotshow and I will give you guys all the first look.
Thanks for covering the video. I have been a Bryna SD (gray) owner for at least two years. Eventually, I bought the 12gram adapter (which is pretty much converted to SDXL) and two extra 7-round magazines. My loads are jawbreaker rounds. Until when LE was launched I was thinking to upgrade but somewhat hesistant at first because I would like to see the discrepancy between the firepower and trigger pull to see if it's worth the upgrade. If Byrna offer trade-in I may consider it.
@@AlternateArmsSDI've asked them the same question and I was told they have no interest in doing something like that. Honestly they probably don't want to deal with the logistics of it as it would cost them money in the long run because they'd be selling the newer stuff at a discount once they factor in the trade-in for the older stuff.

Brand new out the box my byrna LE worked good for only two co2 cartridges after that it leaked like crazy , send it to byrna got it back now it shoots one good shot second shot soft and third hard then back to soft😭😭 for $515 it should be better

Question, I just received my SD, after firing through the first mag, I went to place it on safe and wasn’t able to do that as it was extremely tough to do so. It wasn’t until I removed the cartridge that I could place back into safe. Have you experienced this on your SD? Any insight would be much appreciated and thanks for your informative videos.
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes the mag was still in and I tried it with it out. I called byrna and the rep said this is normal due to high pressure that the safety will be hard to manipulate. But truly I didn’t feel comfortable putting any more pressure on it to change its position back to safe. Once the cartridge was released out and the mag was released, then I was able to easily put back on safe. If I fire a few rounds I should be able to put back on safe with somewhat ease correct? Lastly the byrna rep wanted me to take a video of it happening but I explained to them that I only bought a box of 10 and already wasted two just verifying that it operates or able to fire properly. So I have to go out and purchase more to waste to verify it in a video. Then I will possibly send it back once I verify with you this is not normal. I wanted the EP that eliminated more moving parts but it’s no longer available on the website.
@@Humble-Engine yeah, when they took the EP off the market, it really surprised me. Although, you can get the same basic effect by just leaving your HD/SD on fire at all times. I haven’t experienced that stiff safety though, I will give it a shot when I get back to town.
I already have 3 BYRNAs but can see me getting 2 of the LE versions. but yeah, another color. now if they could make the LE version the same size as the compact version with the same power and like 18 powerfull shots before the CO2 runs out, that would be nice. and I would like a version without the rail. it chaffs a little against me if I tuck it inot my waistband. ( loose tee shirt over it while outside smoking a cigar).

I was thinking about getting a byrna for home defense just to have something as opposed to nothing. For the extra hundred dollars do you think it's worth it to get the Le is there a significant amount of power differential between the two in your opinion? Thx
@@magiccorner2019 Greetings! OK, the direct answer is yes there is a substantial difference between the HD and the LE in terms of power but they are both very solid launchers. I just got my Byrna LE today. I am getting 10 shots per co2 cartridge. Way under what Byrna advertises. 4 co2 cartridges including the ones that came with it and all the same. 10 shots and out. Sent Byrna an email asking what is wrong with it. Waiting on a reply.

Yes I have and I have emailed them about 50 times since meeting them in person at shotshow. It seems they are reluctant to send out launchers for reviews though. Check to see if the valve block could be removed if possible on the sd or hd to see if their coud be an increase in power like the snowpeak.... if possible..
Thinking about picking one of these up tomorrow either the SD or the Le was wondering If it does leak with the chemical balls if you leave them in the chamber? And is the Ellie the same where you can pierce the CO2 cartridge while on safety? Thanks in advance

I've been following yoru channel mostly due to non modded weapons, but I've since pulled the plug and bought a HDP 50 and a VALKEN CQMF for 199$ on sale from 350$ so i said screw it, less customizable than the M17 but its gonna be JUST as customizable soon when more people buy it... as for the HDP some guy already achieved 100 joules with a sniper looking rifle build, for a pistol he turned in into a damn 2-3 feet sniper rifle lol! I gotta atleast get 40-60Joules and ill be happy, because that all I need and I don't need a sUPER FAT GUN......... and as for the VALKEN woooooo now I got 4 43 markers, 1 50 marker , 1 semi and full auto 68 marker god DAMN
Yeah, a lot of people trying to get a little extreme with the over modifications :) I think that’s human nature. The only issue I have is that making a nonlethal launcher lethal defeats the entire purpose. Also, it only takes one idiot to kill somebody with one of these and we are on a rocket ship to regulation.
"Since they are actually punctured, until you need them, temperature is not such a major issue" I appears as though you have not trouble charging and carrying it charged from a loss of gas stand point. I own a G-L-O-C-K and have been a little concerned about developing two separate handling routines on very similar "launchers" for emergency use. The extra trigger pull being my biggest hang up. Being able to precharge brings the routines down to near identical. Until now I have been liking the launchers where you slap the but of the launcher to charge. Since the LE is aimed at law enforcement thus keeping it orange they should make it black under a new code. HR for hot rod.
It does take a little more training to develop the muscle memory to charge then fire. However, it's easier than it looks, and it goes very quickly. Fortunately, you don't HAVE to use that method and could just leave it on fire sacrificing 550 of the first shots power.

@@kurt9994 Thanks Brother! Yeah, that particular charging mechanism is present on all of the SaltSupply, Tippmann, and savers. I would love to see Umarex, adopt some type of that in the future.

Can you give an update to the LTL Bravo? i noticed you didn't include it in the "its not a firearm vid" :) and some of the testing results were inconclusive. im really interested in the Bravo but I read some less than favorable reviews on it. :) thanks for all that you do here :)
Thanks very much for this video as it was extremely informative. Can you recommend a good holster to use with the LE or are the standard holsters that Byrna provides good enough?
Ironically, the only one I've had to use up to this date in a live situation was the Walther PPQ. (and it performed perfectly) However, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to use either one.

Oh you know it! I got an email from a Umarex marketing guy the other day (I dont think he knew about the channel) asking me if If like to test some products on the channel (I almost fell out of my chair) :) Also, I JUST emailed Byrna about the mission... We shall see!
Does the LE still have that annoying sharp edge at the bottom of the mag where it extends past the bottom of the handle? I've scratched myself pretty good on that, and filed it smooth but it's still a protrusion.
I haven't heard of any issues BUT I have experienced jams when using particularly "sticky" rubber rounds. When using solids, rubber/steel, or pepperballs though I haven't had any to date.
Just shot capacity. The LE is internally different which gives it the amount of power it has. The LE is a beast out of the box. Either one is a great option though.@@hoanghuynh8160
Brother, it’s like you were reading my mine :) I sent an email to Byrna on Monday about the getting a mission 4 for the show. They are very responsive so we shall see.
They do GREAT in heat. Since they are actually punctured, until you need them, temperature is not such a major issue. If you have one that stays constantly pressurized, going from hot to cold repeatedly will cause the seals to swell and contract and lose pressure.
Living in Arizona, I can tell you they fire great in the desert heat, even in 115° to 120° temps here(the vapor plume is impressive at 120°). Of course you're gonna need to dry the barrel after you're done practicing 😊
No offense dude but you’re kind of being ridiculous. I’ve seen videos where people shot people with the LE just to demonstrate the how much force the kinetic rounds have, and I’ll buy them selves without any of the pepper spray or anything else you don’t want to get shot with one of those things I mean I think that’s like 400 foot pounds I mean feet per second rather
In a well rounded self-defense scenario you want to have all types of options to know all capabilities of your launchers. You also have to take an account different weather conditions. Clothing will affect impact of kinetic rounds, but will not affect pepperballs nearly as much. This is a game of options, brother.
