During the 30th anniversary of Rust in Peace, West Virginia groove metal outfit BYZANTINE has paid tribute to late MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza with a cover of the MEGADETH classic "Tornado of Souls" featuring video footage and audio of what's known to be some of the final unreleased studio drum recordings Menza recorded before he passed away in 2016.

Yeah he nailed the vocals and that iconic solo. He has a good voice, love his vocals on Byzantines Justinian Code. The band as a whole are just damn good.

As if by magic, Nick's drumming just makes this song sound right... Great job on everything else too! Specially the vocals are amazing! Who ever is making up all this cool stuff here, its really nice. Nick is so badly missed, this kind of projects are so totally cool thing to get. I wish I had had the chance to meet him.... He's the very reason I picked up the sticks myself, my childhood drumming hero and one of the most kick ass mind blowing metal drummers to ever walk this planet. Long live Nick Menza!

The testament to the awesome drummer Nick was is that with his timing, feel and sound, this sounds more Megadeth than any incarnation of Megadeth to ever play this song. And I mean this with the outmost respect to all of them. Great work, the whole band!!!

This is fantastic! Byzantine is one of the most underrated metal bands. Somewhere they have a cover of Frayed Ends of Sanity by Metallica that is incredible as well. The metal world should give them their due!

Every time I come to this channel I get so pissed that 1. Mustaine did not show some humility and reform the actual " rust " lineup for the anniversary tour. 2. Nick has passed. Such a unique talent and absolutely a dude if you met him in a certain circumstance seems like a ball of fun, energy and attitude. Such a shame. Just glad to have been able to see them on the Youthanasia tour. One of the best shows I ever saw.

Fantastic just fantastic, I have often played along to this song beat for beat perfect , yet still when I've listened to the recordings I've made I don't sound like nick ,even though I'm playing what he played , drums are very very personal and the way a drummer hits the drum,the type of stick , the personal energy and enthusiasm of each drummer is different and can be heard in their playing.

Nailed it! Best version overall I heard anybody play in the last couple of years of this song. Nick Menza was such a great drummer! I was a kid when Rust in Peace came out but it absolutely blew me away, and was the best album for me for the next 5 years of my life, still top 10 of all time in my book.
