That's great! Stick with it but more importantly, TAKE YOUR TIME! Learning to pray the Divine Office is not a race or an exam... in a month or two you'll be much more comfortable with it. Good luck and God bless!
Hey Christopher, I appreciate your videos. I watched the morning prayer one just to make sure I was doing it right and surely I was shown otherwise, so I like that next time I can pray it properly. Also, I was wondering, how do we do the Office of Readings? When would we do it? I noticed there was much towards the back pages, and I got curious. Thank you.
Good morning! Office of Readings can be done (if desired) at any time of the day. I prefer to start my day with it and roll into Morning Prayer immediately after, but you can slip it in anywhere. If you look in the Ordinary section (the "skeleton"), you will see they layout of the Office. It's similar to the others: opening, then a hymn, than 3 psalms, a short verse and then two readings; the first is biblical and the second usually a topical sermon or writing. Then it closes with a prayer as well.
Hopefully you watched the entire playlist for the 4 volume set; they give you the basics that carry over to the Christian Prayer and Shorter Christian Prayer videos. If you just skipped through them and went right to the CP videos, some of the terms and workflow may be confusing.
@@VO_JayRedding it *does* seem overwhelming until you get used to it. The apps are nice to have as a backup to check yourself, or if you don't have the book with you. I personally find the incoming texts and notifications too intrusive to focus. I also like to think I'm evangelizing in some small way when I find a quiet place in public and use the book. I think it's also frowned upon in solemn settings to use the phone... I find I get less curious (and indignant) stares when I use the book to silently pray the Office of the Dead at a funeral viewing for example!
