I just subscribed because it is the only way that I could show you how much I value your work and content, plus the lack of $100.00 bills to hand out is directly proportional to the amount of parts my C3 needs. I just started the process of restoration and was glad to find a real professional that knows rushing and taking shortcuts is for the disposable vehicles, not the classics. Thank you for sharing your work experience. It must be twice as difficult to do a thorough job, and make a great instructual video. Both are "Boss" in my book. ~Corey

Great vid. I am in the middle of doing a entire 4 wheel brake job, new rotors, calipers and pads. I and I just ripped off the p-brake shoes from the rears. Both top springs were bent bad. In fact I think the top spring was actually not even connected one the driver side. I have new springs on order. Going to replace the pads with new ones anyway. I will need to work the cable like you did. The adjusting wheel on the pass side was seized up. rusted. Good I took em off. The e brake has never really worked right and would stick when I would engage it. Which now I know why. More to come. thx.

What you can do is, take a baggy, tape or zip tie or wire it to the cable with the opening pointing up. Fill it with a mixture of trans fluid and some other thinner solvents. Leave overnight. It will run back down into the cable and free it and lube it. Works great for any cables that you can get to the top of, like motorcycles etc too.

One way to unseize it is to remove it and soak in a bucket of diesel fuel for a day or two. Any cable like a lawnmower cable or even chainsaw chains clean up great. Love your videos. Saving me $$

I think someone may have switched the brake shoe adjusters between left and right on this car because the original workshop manual says to tighten the brake by moving your hand "away from the floor on both the left and right side".

I just noticed that my parking brake light on the dash stays on when the brake is off. My brakes are all good and brake fluid reservoir is full. Do you think it could be a switch under the console or maybe a fuse? Let me know what you think. Thanks
@ProblemSolverGarage
@ProblemSolverGarage 2 года назад
Could be that switch under the consul That’s attached to the emergency brake lever, it either gets a ground or it doesn’t that’s how it works, so you could easily test it
@inell6
@inell6 2 года назад
@@ProblemSolverGarage It turned out to be the proportioning valve. Had a mishap and lost some brake fluid from the rear brakes. Evidently it was enough to trip the valve switch on top of the proportioning valve which cause the brake dash light to come on. Anyway got it worked out and no more dash light! Thanks.

I have a 78 vette and can't get the hood open , the cable broke going to the passenger side of the hood, the driver side released but the passenger side didn't. I've tried going thru the hole behind the latch and I couldn't release it. Don't know what to do next...Ralph

Well you're not giving me enough information but sounds like you need everything checked over. Could be seized calipers, collapsed brake hoses, seized brake pads.
