Thanks for the video. I got onto c4fm for the first time and when i was finished I pushed the Back button. I cannot seem to get out of c4fm ?? The radio seems to be locked?? Im stuck in CQ UK room

I wish to connect my ft991a to internet via laptop/wiresx, not via a hotspot or local repeater, once connected do I have to put 991a into any special mode to stop it transmitting over the air please ? It seems a simple question but very hard to find an answer to ? Love your videos BTW

Mike, sorry, I missed the last word, there was some sort of interference? :-D Not sure how all these hot spots and that work, but I shall find out come time. Had a crap day but not going there, everything that could go wrong did! To make it worse, I heard American DXers coming in, I could just hear them on CB, so I waited and just as they were up enough to try they vanished, not to be heard of again :-(( Oh well. Using reflectors via a hotspot is not Yaesu System Fusion. Reflectors have absolutely nothing to do with Yaesu. The only reason the 2 are remotely able to be connected is down to the MMDVM software that does the work in between. Using command mode in this way can cause issues on reflector bridged Fusion networks. North West Fusion Group have a good video on why this happens

I'm going to buy the FT-991A soon but you talk about the Banana Pi hotspot and may I ask you to point me to the details this hotspot you use. Nice video by the way ;-)

Excuse my ignorance with this subject but I don't understand why we can't use the FT-991A as a direct wires x node when the 991A is connected to say a desktop W11 PC which is tied to the internet. If I had a Wires X HT, why couldn't I use the FT-991A to RX and TX a connection to wires x, without HRI-200 or hotspot, assuming the PC is installed with proper software?

So... I wouldn't need an OpenSpot if I have a Fusion repeater near me or for simplex *unless* I wanted to use that radio to access other systems like DMR or D-Star?

Why do I keep getting 'Busy Error' when I try to connect to a room while in the 'All' list? Doesn't matter if I'm on a local repeater or using my hotspot. 73's.

You have 5 c4fm repeaters within 30 to 40 km of Gloucester with a good antenna like a Ringo Ranger you should have no issues reaching them. I am in Canada and I can chat on Fusion repeaters that are up to 100 km as the crow flys. I can hit Miramichi, NB, Sussex, NB, Moncton, NB, Amherst, NS and a few more in Nova Scotia with ease! Repeaters that you should be able to use without a tower are in Hereford, 2 in Swindion, Chipenham, Banbury.

I have an FT991, not the A model, which will not connect to the hotspot, which is a Zumspot. It's receiving but that's all. Any thoughts? Your pi-star settings are the same as mine. My FT70D connects ok 73 G4AQK

I have looked and do not see how I can get fusion wire x with out a local repeater and not investing in a lot more equipment. Should be an easy way through the internet. All the repeaters appear to be in metro areas and I live in a rural area. mountains and distance in the way. Any help would be appreciated I do have a ft-991 and a computer. HELPPPP

wHY MAKE IT LOOK TOO EASY. I tried and no local repeater with fusion-wires x. How do I get on wire x or is it impossible

Mke, I am afraid, I can not reach my wirex duplex repeater. As I prepared my 991a, and pushed WireX with C4FM, it did not give the short TX but the WireX indicator is blinking with no result. Is this a setting or is it just not working when it has no connection. Txs wilfred EI5ILB

Hi Mike, Good video. I'm having trouble connecting My usb hotspot using blue DV software. All I can hear is data on My radio being tx from the hotspot. Also, the wiresx button won't connect. Any ideas ? Thank you... Garry 2e1fnp

Great video mate. I’m in the same place you are with no system fusion repeaters. Can’t afford the hotspot right now. I’d like to use this video on my channel that helps to teach ham radio to people. I will of course credit your channel and ask people to subscribe. I’ll also put a link to your channel in the description section of my video. Afternoon Mike. Random question really. Watched the stream on Sunday night with you and Calumn and the gang. Just wondered if you had preference between the Icom7300 and the Yeasu FT-991a.

sounds like the voices were a little off freq. maybe tune in a little better with the squelch. or is that the way it sounds.?.

Hopefully there's a menu option to switch off that irritating "deedley-deet" noise.

Hi Mike, I did all that you mentioned on Pi* and set 991A to C4FM but it didn't connect. I run D* successfully on this Zumspot and I'm using same frequency. Some time ago I registered (I think) with Yaesu but with a different radio. Do I need to program the 991A to accept my call-sign? Or will in need to run either/or on the Pi*. Any guidance appreciated 73 Jon
