C6 Corvette Won't Start Issues & Some Of The Fixes For Them

Hi Kevin. You are a life saver. I'm in Australia and bought a 2007 Corvette yesterday. I drove it home with no problems. Parked it and the dash went out and it was dead. I was going to take it back as no one I rang here could help me. Then I found your BCM unplug and plug back in. That fixed the problem and she's good as gold again. So again, thank you very much. Thank you for your video. It saved my butt last night. Fuel pump relay was bad. I never would have guessed the fuel pump relay would keep it from even cranking over.

hey Kevin -- just ran into another issue where my 2005 C6 Corvette wouldn't start. When we would hit the starter button, all the gauges would cycle, headlights would come on, and had power to everything. With the green light lit on the starter button, I could put my foot on the brake and shift the gear selector to P, R, N, D. The issue: one of the shifter cable ends had lost part of the bushing / grommet and was not allowing the car to work the selector lever on the transmission. So while it was giving the appearance inside the car that the shifter was working and showing that it was shifting between P, N, R, D...it wasn't doing anything. So the car was not truly in park which did not allow the car to start. Having to replace the shifter cable now. But this created the exact scenario that you were describing. Just thought you might add this to the list (probably way down on the list :) ) of things that could possibly be the culprit. Hopefully it might help someone else out who encounters these symptoms.

Thx so much for posting this. My 2005C6 has been giving me trouble starting for a number of months now. Only happens occasionally but has left me stranded a dozen times. Dealer can’t figure out as it always starts while in the shop. I’m listing these possible items for them to check.

Thank you for your video! Been having some issues with my shifter and as soon as you said it, realized that was my problem. It didn't think it was in park, so didn't wanna start.

I had worked my way through about half your list, with no luck, when I decided to pull a battery cable, let the car sit for a few minutes and reconnect it. Sure enough, it started right up. Quirky electronics in these cars, truly quirky.

Can you show me how to unclipped those bcm plugs please. Don't want to break them

I watched this. Was useful. My problem with 2011 z06 was starter was cooked. When I took it out the brass bolt was cracked off inside the starter and fell right out. Good thing because it would of been impossible to get off. New starter and it started faster than ever before.

Thanks! Mine turned out to be the ground wire by the battery. Symptom was intermittent, dark dash after hitting start. After a few seconds it would light up again. If i put a jump box on i could overcome the bad ground. Ever since cleaning the ground it starts first try every time. Thanks!

Have you thought about a wiring your dash cam to the rear view mirror (like radar detectors wire tap)? Not sure where you have your dash cam mounted. Great tips thanks.

Do you happen to know the part number for the clutch position sensor that you show? I've been dealing with an issue for a while and haven't been able to narrow it down. I get a P0807 code most of the time so I'm going to replace the 13597429 switch but can't seem to find the info on the one you show after the 10 minute mark.

Great video. I have a question about my C5 2001 corvette. My fuse box got some water due to not cleaning my otters and water got in. I remove all fuses and clean them and replace a couple that needed to be replaced I also clean the actual box for the fuses and relays put it all back together and I still can’t get my Corvette to start do you have any ideas thank you Sam

Hey Kevin I'm getting a electric cracking sound on the passenger side. Sometimes the car starts no problem and others it's black dash no start even with a jump start. Last night it failed at a gas station. Couldn't open doors, couldn't put windows up, couldn't put the car in neutral. Had it towed home and disconnected the battery because the radio wouldn't shut off. Connected the battery this morning and everything works fine car started right up. Any thoughts?

What my 05c6 does is that all lights comes on and when I press my clutch car will shut down and what I have to do is disconnect the battery a couple of times and put my key fob on the glove box, sometimes it clicks 3,4 times and it shut down, previous owner told me it could be a bypass call “ steering wheel column” and I’m thinking that could be cuz sometimes the dashboard says “steering wheel column service” but others it say “key fob not detected” so what do you think it could be?

Hi Kevin, I have a 05 base and about a month ago I ran out of fuel and the car shut off, since then it’s been a hit or a miss trying to get it to turn on. Once it’s on I can take it around the block but getting back to the house my door controls lose power, service vehicle and fuel system come on and won’t shift out of park. Once I turn it off I lose power to my dash, stereo, and tail lights. I’ve checked fuses, relays, grounding, and voltage but still nothing. I really don’t want to take it to a Chevy dealer and pay a arm and a leg. Also, my ignition light is green but just clicks when I try and crank it.

I have a C6 Corvette that forgets the FOB. I have changed the stock radio, the Theft Deterrent System, BCM, changed the batteries, the FOBs, FOB Batteries and it still forgets the FOB {FOB NOT DETECTED}. The only way it turns on is when I disconnect the battery, and on reconnect, it cranks up like a champ. Any ideas what it could be? Thank you Captain

What about after driving awhile turn off the engine and try to start it back up and it won't start? It will crank but really slow. It will not start until the starter cooled off for about an hour. Maybe I need a new starter or crank sensor. I have changed the cam sensor already and no affect. Let me know thanks.

I'm dealing with that dash event. It's been going on for a year now abd getting worse First thing I notice now is the remote is not working and new battery in it. I try to start when this event happens(it's intermitten, more often and longer to reset. I hear a single click, dash goes black but then I fI just watch and wait the dash goes crazy, light, check engine and other messages. I walk away and the next day it runs fine. What could this be? My machanic seems baffled. Thanks
