街乗りテスト車窓動画 暇つぶしにどうぞ Cab view of a short test drive around a city. No commentary, No music, Just the sound of the original ZIL V8 engine. Enjoy!! The project is in progress!! This awesome truck would be a perfect camper truck!!
In Europe zil 131 is widely used for logging and its unbeatable, although people who drive it don't really wanna drive it lol, its a monster but russian machinery come with the heavy price of fixing them a lot and they are a mess to drive in heavy conditions, im very surprised someone has it in the USA lol.
You can buy them for usually less than 15,000 (probably counting shipping). If you get one I would seriously recommend going to the annual trabant parade in Washington DC, I'm sure many people would love to see a beast like this
This is quite unique! How did you get it there? These truck formed the backbone of what once was a superpower. Keep it original, apart from the ignition system that is crap. Oh, rumours have it that the engine is based on a Ford V8 that they copied, don’t know if that’s true. However, it would not be impossible, they copied the two stroke Detroit Diesels too! (See YaAZ-204 and 210).
In the late 1950's ZIL's engineers copied Cadillac OHV V8 heads. The engine block itself is just as any 90 degree V8 but ZIL-130 aka 508.10 V8 is quiet unique. There's a piston sleevevs in the block. 2 displacements - 364 CID 6.0L and 427 CID 7.0L. ZIL-130, 131 (6X6) used 364 CID and URAL-375D - used 427 CID. There was a monster ZIL-135 8X8 truck that had two 427 CID V8s and 2 transmissions for each wheel-side of a truck! Talking about 2 miles per gallon! That's for the trucks. ZIL also made limousines for the higher establishment of the USSR gov. In 1959 they introduced ZIL-111 with 6.0L V8 but that ZIL V8 was slightly different. Heads was different. They grew from 6.0L to 7.7L (200 hp to 300 hp).
canadian here. I found a GAZ 53 truck in Ukraine. cheap, and looks to be in acceptable condition. not sure how I'm going to import it should I manage to buy it.
Looks like an old American technology back to home, you know land and lease with US military trucks for Soviet Union, then all of that stuff been copied and build for decades under different Soviet brands such as ZIL, GAZ etc.
