Surviving drought, salt spray, poor soils and even fire this amazing palm tree is ultimately adapted to its extreme environment. Know as the "tree of life" by indigenous peoples it provided food, shelter, building materials, twine and so much more. The palm provides and enormous number of seeds annually and feasted on by wildlife of all kinds. The tree provides habitat and hiding places for dozens of animal as well as plant species. It is no wonder it is the state tree of both Florida and South Carolina.

I’ve seen these many times when visiting Florida, but never realized how tough these trees are or how important they are for their environment. Thanks for posting this!

I love going to Florida in the winter, but it gets too hot there in the summertime. The rustling of the palm trees is a favorite sound of mine, and heart of palm is delicious! Thank you for this information!

Frank. You take me to places ive never been. I love your channel. Plus you bring nature to my level. Im sitting with my doggies cooking deer steaks on the charcoal grill watching all the birds in my back yard. Looking toward sgl 073. . I have alot of woodpeckers and all the winter birds. The morning doves and robins and my catbird are tame.they know they are safe here. If i see any baby robins on the ground this year. Beth and i are going to raise them and let them go. I tried returning 3 last year and found them dead the next day. God bless Frank. 😊

Hi Frank from Pennsylvania student Jeff. Awsome as always. I had a very good day at the youth field day. You could tell that you were in central Pennsylvania. Polite parents and polite children. Im not used to be called sir. Im getting old. I forgot to tell you about my wildlife sightings. I saw my first brown tree keeper, and a phobee. They act almost tame. I almost didnt see the tree creeper. It was on a very large rock oak. Thank you for your awsome videos. I will mail the book very soon. I hope you enjoy it. Im so proud of the Pennsylvania game commission. They were the first. And Pennsylvania is very bueatiful rugged and very much a hunting state. For the common man. Thanks to the state game lands 1.8 million acres. Not counting 2.6 million acres of state forest and almost 120,000 of national forest.i love going north to see some of the largest bull elk in north america. Right here in Pennsylvania. God bless teacher. Your the best. Pennsylvania Jeff. 😊😊
