agreed. me personally i love the tucked in look, and think the fender flares look good! i usually like colormatched, but honestly the flat black doesnt look too bad. truck just needs a good paint correction and shes good to go
I love this truck. I got my dad’s when he passed and am really enjoying the videos on it. Im definitely getting this for pop’s truck!! It looks so good!
Sorry for your loss, my friend. I put one of these in my '04 Yukon (camper truck) and it truly looks great. It really sets the comfy mood, but still maintains the classy aspect. Classpect? lol
Ive changed mine out 2 times now. With origanal. 2004 silverado Z71 5.3 429000 miles still origanal eng and trany. Still everyday construction truck. Love this truck.
Man I watched all these videos when you initially uploaded them, but now I have an 05 Chevy and I’ve been rewatching for stuff I wanna do. Very helpful, thanks man
I repair instrument clusters for a living and I wish youtube had photo comments because I wanna show off the cluster I built for my truck because I'm overly proud of myself for how cool it looks and the fact I was able to retrofit an 06 cluster on a 02 truck and have everything work. Another tip to anyone that might see this comment, if you want to add the steering wheel controls to your truck you can enable them in any instrument cluster with programming the cluster. Can use GM sps, tis2000 or my personal favorite IPC hammer which is free provided you got a j2534 device. just have to switch to the next number of the calibration ID to get the correct options with wheel controls. Then you can install the wheel controls using the same wiring as factory and the cluster DIC will work. If you want DIC and don't want to install wheel controls you can also put some type of momentary switch between the cluster pins for the steering wheel controls (B4-B7) and ground will work just the same.
I kind of like the old school gauges, but when I sent mine off to have it rebuilt (new bulbs, steppers), I did have them add the trans temp gauge to it and I love to have that information there. Looks really nice!
Looks very nice. I'm happy with my stock gauges on my 2003 Sierra because when I bought it the previous owner had red leds already installed which reminds of the color Pontiac had on their cars and it looks awesome at night.
Pontiac is always special in my heart. I do red in all my dashes, also, just because of them. My grand prix gxp was my favorite car ever. I still have a gto but I'm giving it to my son
I think the 03-07s had the best looking dash/interior in trucks before stuff went digital and touchscreen radios. But my favorite modern truck interior is deffenatly 14-18 gm truck
Great mod. I opted for just updated my bulbs to led hyper white. Which looks blueish. Also I have a denali so it already had the trans temp. I went the cheap way. However if I ever had the extra cash would definitely get this.
Don’t know if you noticed but when you hit the hazards the tire monitor light came on. It does look good. I know you were saying 99-07 and then corrected to 2003+ so Im guessing it won’t work for my 01… you should put a caddy steering wheel in next!
little easter egg 03-07 gm actually put a name on your dash bezel and thats the name of the truck my 2006 suburban has faith on the bezel so its name is faith should see if yours has it!
it’s so strange cause i used to have a black 07 classic. same interior. i did all the same mods you’ve been doing. like exact. i just had different wheels.
I should have added that I have a 2002 and you mentioned in your video that the cluster would work on '99 to '06 I believe. I would love to make the swap but don't want to spend $500 if it doesn't.
Great idea for a great look! I looked up the website and and now I must get the stock SS cluster for my 2005 Silverado base model regular cab. I am looking for all the OEM stuff I can find to get it away from the look of the farm truck it used to be. It was my grandpa’s truck, now it’s mine. I want to give the truck an as new, but more expensive and still stock look, as possible. I’m doing it on a budget though. My truck is just about to reach 110,000 miles. Thanks again for the inspiration! Edit: I took the plunge and ordered a custom SS cluster, blue LEDs and red pointers with black centers. Can’t wait to get it! They are able to transfer the engine hours information also, but not the trip odometer. It was very easy to order and less expensive than sending my original somewhere to be fixed. Mine was only $300. It’ll give me the SS dash look in a base model (used to be farm) truck. The order form asks for the mileage and VIN. The buyer must promise the mileage number to be as true as possible. I gave them my exact mileage and engine hours. I double and triple checked the VIN when I typed it in. It must be exactly right. I’m looking forward to my new gauge cluster for sure! Edit 2: I installed the cluster I wanted and it blew me away how much difference it made! Especially at night with the custom blue LEDs! I felt like I had a brand new truck. This video is the perfect example of how to remove the old and install a new cluster. It does take a few minutes of gentle pulling while squeezing to remove the plug-in from your old cluster.
Hey, so what if your LED light that tells the mileage and trip is burnt out…how would one know the mileage when sending this into the link you provided on this video for the upgrade?
I did the Z71 dash cluster swap for my old 2016 Silverado single cab work truck. It was pretty fucking dope except for the fact that I didn’t get it programmed.
Very cool! My next mod for sure, Thanks for the video. What bed cover is that? I’ve been thinking about getting one and I love that flush look. Let me know if you read this. Thanks again
Mmy 05 silverado milage and trip shows 0. But it shows how much fuel its using and used. They are asking for my milage to program it in. How do I get the milage when it's not showing on the odometer?
Are you sure this works???? I contacted the company you put in your link and they emailed me back and said that the cluster would not work but in your video it appears to work. I'm kinda confused!!
I don't own one of these trucks so... I take it that it's dim-able right? It looked very bright at night. Too bright for me. Lots of extra lights shining in your face that the OEM one didn't have.
put some method wheels or kmc or fuels on this truck 17in it would look sick well that would be my style lol i got the same truck but its metallic silver i will never sell it. Z71 gonna give it to my son probably. maybe....
