Over the years I noticed whenever peopled talked about white rappers, Cage would be completely forgotten about. Imo, Cage is the best white rapper who who ever lived. His ability to convey multiple emotions in the same line is unrivaled. Eminem blowing up after their beef didnt really stop him, as he would go on to drop critically acclaimed albums for years after; but in the recent years its been slow. I also think leaving Necro was a mistake. But no doubt in my mind; Cage Kennylz is the best white MC who ever lived; thus far ;).
Hopefully this will hold over Cage fans.
He would come on to the scene on Pete Nice's Dust To Dust, quickly signed and dropped from Columbia in 1993-4 (same time as Nas), linking with other MC Serch put on’s like KMD; I read that it was with cage that subroc did acid, the night he died getting hit by a car. When DOOM died, his post said DOOM took him under his wing early on and now it totally makes sense because I always thought they were similar. Anyway, it wasnt until linking with Necro for the releases Radiohead and Agent Orange, did things take off for Cage. Necro would say they had problems because DJ Mighty Mi would bribe Cage away from Necro with drugs. The album never came to be, Cage would move from Mighty Mi and create a string of albums, then to El-P and do the same, and then on his own.
But now we can listen to necro and cage.
Focusing on EARLY 93-2000 era Cage (fat Cage) , and using the best Necro beats from all eras, but also mostly from that time. Created in a manic 48hr episode of not being able to sleep. Also mixed in are samples from A Clockwork Orange which the alex the worm king character is based on.
