This is all media driven. Speak to the journalists that want to hear about the game, the players successes, leave the Gossip Mongers to grope for 2nd hand interviews and viewers or readers.
Part of the problem is people who watch the NBA and see these kinds of fouls dealt with and heavy fines and suspensions handed out. In the WNBA it doesn't happen-is this bad refereeing or bad management? I did expect Caitlin to get hurt playing Taurassi/Griner but they didn't catch her-didn't stop her team-mates getting some bad fouls. It appears to run through certain teams, maybe because the manager was that type of player. Chicago Sky coach for example.
@samcalven12 why would you, it's not your paycheck or job. W players need to generate more interest in the game to increase revenue from ticket sales, merchandise, and ultimately more sponsorship dollars to the players. It may be the players "calling in life" but to the NBA they are just in a welfare league, supported by team owners.
I must say I'm actually a fan of both CC and AR (though without a doubt - I watch WNBA because of CC). I think the rivalry is good for the league and brings more eyes to the TV. But certainly, CC is the deal and it's not close!!
